Great value

I just want to say that i just bought a pair of glasses from best4specs.com and i saved myself a fortune. This has got to be the future for buying glasses online?

useless

I tried to use Best 4 SPecs to purchase a replacement pair of frames (without lenses) after I accidentaly broke my own pair. I have very bad eyesight and was desperate for the glasses to arrive quickly so i could fit the lenses in the new frames. Meanwhile I was forced to wear a very old pair, not nearly good enough prescription wise.
I therefore called Best4Specs before placing my order and spoke to David who assured me the frames would be ordered immediately and that he would personally call me and keep me updated if there was any waiting time for the frames.
I placed the order online, and had to use Google check-out to pay for the frames. At the time this was a little annoying as I had to open an account with google check-out and there was a problem with the submitting of the card details but this has really got nothing to do with Best4specs.
A couple of days after finally having been able to place the order with Google check-out I received an email from Google saying they had seized trading with Besst4Specs and my card had not been charged. I was very keen for the order not to be delayed so I called Best4specs and I spoke with David again who promised to investigate and call me back (which never happened) My bank, howeever, had put the money for the sale 'on hold' and told me that unless the company I had purchased from or Google checkout contacted them to void the sale, they would have to freeze the money for 27 days. From this point on I repeatledly called BEst4Specs and left a number of messages as noone ever answered the phone. I also sent a few emails asking what was going on with my purchase. I needed to know if Best4specs had cancelled my order and if they could ensure my bank was told, so the funds would be released back to me and make it possible for me to buy the frames elsewhere. I was desperate for the frames so initially I contacted them also to see if there was an alternative way of paying. I have, in over a months time, heard nothing back from Best4Specs. My order is still pending on their website, I have had no cancellation confirmation, no returning of any calls or emails. My bank has now finally returned the funds to my account so I can now buy the frames elsewhere, but it's been a long wait. I'm just happy that BEst4Specs used a third party for payments so I was not charged.
I buy stuff online all the time and never before have I had an unsuccessful sale, but more to the point, never before has a company constantly managed to fail to return calls and emails, or even answer the phones. Not a very professional way of conducting business, in my point of view.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

I ordered a set of fames on the 13/10/09, and today is the 17/11/09. I have had to contact the Trading Standards board for advice just to try to and get a refund on my order. They told me to send a letter (recorded delivery) and give them 14 days to reply. It's currently been 10 working days since they got the letter and I have still not got my refund yet, fingers crossed for the remaining 4 days !

During late October and early Nov I emailed best4specs over 50 times and rang them everyday for 2 weeks to try and speak to a customer service rep. No one ever answered the phone or replied to me. I got a phone call after I sent a recorded delivery letter requesting a refund, they told me that their phone system had been down for the last 3 weeks....yeah right... and that the frames where in Harrogate and could not be delivered due to the postal strike which only lasted 3 days lol... yeah right !!

PLEASE...DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE. It is a prime example of bad e-commerce. Stay away from them, I went down to my local Specsaver and got the same frames within 3 days for the same price. I can now see clearly having to go without glasses for 3 weeks !

Thanks

Reply from Best4specs

An order for a product was received on the 13th October 2009 from Mr Wilcock. The order was processed as per usual at our order processing centre in Leicestershire.

The product colour that had been ordered was not in stock, and so it was ordered directly from the manufacturer in Italy. Mr Wilcock was contacted on the 23rd October by telephone to inform him of a delay in the arrival of the product. This was accepted and understood by Mr Wilcock. He did not request any kind of refund at this stage.

Mr Wilcock then e-mailed us on 4th November 2009. We managed to speak to him on the 6th November, and his product had now arrived from Italy. However, Mr Wilcock decided to cancel his order, as he said that had been to Specsavers to get a pair of glasses. Hence, he was subsequently refunded his monies in full.

At Best4Specs.com, we take our customer service very seriously, and keep our customers informed of the progress of their order at all times. Mr Wilcock DID NOT e-mail us 50 times as he has suggested. This is untrue. The usual telephone number was not in operation due to an enforced switchover to a VOIP system caused by a hardware failure. The order processing centre was therefore, for a period, handling all orders and queries like many online businesses do - via e-mail. We feel we have responded to Mr Wilcock in a reasonable time frame on every occasion, and are sorry that he feels that he received poor service. However, we do not accept that our customer service was poor.

Mr Wilcock also says that he purchased the same frame from Specsavers at the same price. Again, this is untrue. We know this because Specsavers never have and never will be able to sell HUGO BOSS branded frames. Therefore, he could not possibly have bought the same product from Specsavers. Again, Mr Wicock's comments in this respect are a gross distortion of the truth, as are Mr Wilcock's other comments relating to his apparent inability to communicate with us.

Finally, many many businesses experienced severe delays by a postal service strike in October- even if it was only a few days long. This, in conjunction with the product coming from Europe, are the reasons for the initial delay. However, Mr Wilcock was informed of this. It is therefore grossly incorrect and unfair that Mr Wilcock should make comments that portray us as being poor e-commerce retailers. We have 100s of satisfied customers who are able to buy top quality products at superb prices and save a lot of money compared to high street opticians.

Very cheap glasses

I've been wearing glasses for over 20 years and one of the things that I always dreaded was getting a new eye prescription every couple of years and then having to go out and spend a fortune on new glasses. I've spent a fortune at Dolland & Aitchison over the years. every time i had an eye test i would get a special offer - a free pair of this or a half price pair of that - but i would always come away spending £300 or more.

A friend told my about how she'd bought a pair of glasses on the internet from Glasses Direct - I think they only cost about £20. So I thought i would have a search on Google and see what I found. I particularly wanted a pair of Gucci glasses and came across best4specs who appeared to have the best prices.

I placed an order and 2 weeks later i got my glasses delivered in the post. I had to go into my local opticians to get the glasses fitted by they were happy to do this for free.

This was a great experience but only because I found the glasses i wanted in Vision Express and tried them on beforehand. then i searched on the internet and got the best price. I got a great service from best4specs - definitely worth a try

Cheap glasses

I had never bought glasses on the internet before but found Best4specs on the internet. I couldn't believe the prices compared with the last pair i bought from Vision Express.

I placed the order over the phone and they were really helpful. My new glasses arrived about 2 weeks later and i'm really delighted with them. I've saved myself a lot of money.

Ordered 4 weeks ago and still was getting rubbish excuses like missed the post 2 days ago.

I ordered my glasses 4 weeks ago, said they will be 7-10 working days and after 14 working days i started chasing them up, i got excuses like they were on their way from italy, they should receive them tomorrow, a few days later i phoned again and same excuse, then a few days later i phoned again and this time i got yes they have arrived and the lens should be made and fitted today and be posted out today via next day delivery, so heres me getting happy that i will finally get my new glasses and guess what no delivery the next day. no delivery the day after aswell. so i ring them up and i get an excuse they missed the post, so what did they miss the post 3 days running?, at the end i got pissed off and cancelled my order. why should i pay a company to give me such an absolute rubbish service, they did not even phone me once to give me an update, the only thing they did was phone me back because they when to check on the progress of the order after i kept bugging them. avoid best4specs.com like a plague and find another similar company on the web. theres loads and the competition is high. specs4less.com = < 1*.
