Just wanted to drop you a line to say how wonderful I think this pen is. I really am massively impressed
Top quality products and outstanding service
My wife bought an Italix Sterling Imperium V fountain pen with a medium italic nib from Mr Pen as a Christmas present for me last year. I was so happy with the gift, not only was it beautiful to look at but it was a joy to write with. Unfortunately, I managed to snap the plastic carrier tube by carrying the pen in my very full coat packet. I contacted Mr Pen and explained my dilemma and they asked me to post the pen back to them, which I did. The following day, I received my repaired pen back in the post, I can not express my gratitude to Mr pen for such excellent customer service and to top it all there was no charge. If you are thinking of buying a quality pen and want top quality products and the best customer service possible then there is only one place to go ... Mr Pen!

Hello from Louisville, Kentucky -
I just received my order from 13 May and I am over the moon after inking up the Churchman's Prescriptor for the first time. Within a minute, this fountain pen proved itself to be a perfect match for my hand. I have purchased and collected scores of fountain pens in my 70 years. I have been fully employed as a writer for more than 50 years. In all honesty, I have never been so impressed by a writing instrument.
The weight, the finish, the balance, the smoothness of the nib on paper – every aspect of The Churchman's Prescriptor matches my preferences as if it were made to order. As a left handed writer, I selected the medium non italic nib this time. I recently purchased The Parson's Essential with a right-footed italic that took some getting used to, so I ordered a medium non italic for it as well.
Many thanks for the obvious attention to detail and workmanship. I feel sure I will be giving away many of the fine pens I have acquired over the years. I wouldn't want them to find themselves unemployed now that I have discovered something better.
By the way, I will add this to my list of reasons to love Britain – Pashley Cycles, Brompton folding bikes, Newcastle Ale, The Beatles, and Monty Python's Flying Circus. Have I forgotten anything? Oh, of course, William Shakespeare!
The Parson's Essential - more than good enough for this Bishop
Outstanding pen, outstanding service, outstanding value.
My first fountain pen bought in the late 1960s was an Osmiroid with and italic nib. It brought greater character and definition to my handwriting but could get scratchy and ink flow was sometimes problematic. This was partly attributable to the way I held the pen which exacerbated the tendency of italic nibs to dig into the paper. Over the next few decades, besides more Osmiroids, I bought good quality Parker and Shaeffer pens with italic nibs but always with the same problem. Writing lengthy letters, notes and essays would kill my shoulder, perhaps as the slight resistance bacame cumulatively painful. With the advent of computer keyboards, I gradually stopped using my fountain pens, accepting the less distinctive stroke produced by ballpoint.
I've not used a fountain pen for two decades now yet rather missed the handwriting it produced. As I'm now writing a more personal document, I wondered if I could find a decent italic pen, the old ones being stored I know not where. Some research and, increasingly, Mr Pen seemed worth a try.
The Parson's Essential pen, even with an italic nib, positively glides in comparison with my last generation pens. My penned handwriting may not be supercallagraphicexpialidocious but it's handwriting that I like and feels more like 'me'. I'll save up and buy a couple more pens with different nibs from Mr Pen before this jewel of a company closes at the end of the year.
My experience of their service is stellar: prompt, courteous, responsive.
Why aren't there more companies with the same high standards of product, innovation and service as Peter Ford's Mr Pen?
Kind regards,
Jonathan Bishop

March 6, 2020 My letter to Mr. Pen
March 6, 2020
Dear Mr. Ford and Staff,
I'm writing to let you know how great my Churchman's Prescriptor pen writes. With the broad italic nib it waltzes across the page without a skip or a miss. I appreciate the quality, heft, and all-around feel of such a fine writing instrument.
I've paired it with ESSRI and have spent the last few hours at my desk trying it out. I am so pleased.
In addition, I ordered the pen last Friday and received it on Thursday! Very fast shipping that most vendors in the States can't match.
Rest assured the next time I need a quality pen that is built to last
several lifetimes I will happily call on Mr. Pen to fulfill my desires.
Thanks Mr. Ford, and all the best to you and your staff for a job well-done.
This is my second time buying from…
This is my second time buying from MrPen. It is a wonderful company, with very very high quality items. Really the place to go if one is looking for a good fountain pen. I have been using my first one intensively for years, and now its time to buy some more. As a side note I mention, as constructive criticism, that they have an incredibly convoluted way of calculating final prices, but please do not be discouraged. Its just an antiquated webshop. They are very trustworthy and serious and all the numbers are correct.
All the best, and till I buy again.

One of the best experience ever
I’ve just received my first order from Mr Pen, a Churchman’s prescriptor with a medium italic nib. And I really had to tell the world how remarkable I think the pen is ! It seems to be built for a lifetime, it exhales quality, and most important : the writing experience is one of the best I’ve ever experienced (proof, if it had to be made, that price doesn’t make everything). The medium italic nib is exactly what I needed : smooth, not too « moody", with beautiful results in terms of line variation. And the customer service is outstanding : my engraved pen was dispatched the DAY I ordered it !
Outstanding Customer Service
I hope succinct review will have more impact than a detailed one. As well as the vast and varied selection of quality pens, nibs and related products; and the company's own brand "Italix", this company's greatest selling point has to be the consistency of Mr Ford's customer service, . By consistent I mean, before purchase, after purchase and spanning over many years (bought my first pen circa 2013). His excellent individual attention and the patience he has when helping customers is second to none, giving him an unequaled reputation among pen sellers.
If you have made your choice of pen but are unsure about online purchases, have no doubts. I am very confident Mr Ford will assist you in a personalised way until you are completely satisfied.
Parson's Essential Three
I ordered a trio of Parson's Essential fountain pens from Mr. Ford: one with a medium nib, one with a medium cursive nib, and one with a medium italic nib.
The pens arrived within the timeframe that Mr. Ford stated. After using the pens for over a month, I believe that these pens probably represent one of the best deals that one can get anywhere. Fit and finish is very good. All the nibs performed as expected. The fact that one has over 20 nib grinds to choose from is a far cry from what most mainstream fountain pen manufacturers offer. Being able to chat with Mr. Ford himself is definitely a plus because he can give you sound advice when it comes to which nib grind to choose.
Overall, I am satisfied with the pens that I received and with the way my transaction was handled. Highly recommended.
Mr Pen Italic Captains Commission
Dear Peter
Thank you for taking the time on Wednesday to guide me through the nib options.
I purchased the pen, Captains Commission, at 16.45 on Wednesday evening and it arrived on Friday morning, I could not believe how quick your service was.
The nib I decided to chose was the Broad Cursive, it is unbelievably smooth there is no feed back at all, know matter what paper I used.
I saw the pen on Peter Browns you tube page, this directed me to your web page.
The pen looks even better in real life than I dose on you tube.
This is definitely my go to pen, because of the weight When I clip it to my shirt I know that it will not fall off and the quality of the thread means that it won’t unscrew, unlike my Conklin.
The Burgundy colouring is first class, it has an iridescent glow and the markings on the cap are a work of art on there own.
Every thing about this pen is first class, the colour, style, weight, smoothness of the nib, the length of the barrel. I could go on and on and on, but I think you get the idea!!!!.
I will have to look at some other nibs, just so that I can buy the black version and then possibly the Imperium State or possibly the Blue one.
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,
Mark Gillespie.

A terrific find
I discovered Mr Pen about 6 weeks ago after viewing reviews on YouTube. (I would recommend SBRE Brown's reviews if you are at all interested in these pens) and have purchased 4 pens in pretty short order. Clearly I am VERY impressed.
I have 2 Churchman's Prescriptor and 2 Parson's Essential, each in a different nib. The build of both models is exceptional: thick lacquer over a substantial brass base creating depth of colour and wonderfully reflective surfaces.
The first pen, a CP extra broad cursive, writes with such smoothness and richness of line that I could have been using a pen at twice the price. The two following are Parson's, which have a similar build quality and the advantage of attractive colour options, which the CP currently does not. These write well, but are not quite in the same class as the juicy quality the nib on the CP displayed, not such reliable, though good, starters. However, they are attractive, have a fairly traditional visual appeal, and you get a lot of good quality pen for your money.
Apart from build quality, these pens have two other outstanding qualities: a range of nibs which is, I believe, incomparable, and customer service which is both efficient and unfailingly helpful and polite. Peter Ford offers good advice which is without any sense of a sales pitch.
Re nibs: I bought a second CP with a broad right foot non italic oblique nib, a complete punt on my part prompted by seeing impressive writing samples. Straight from the box, I felt as though this was a nib I should have been using for the last 40 years (I used to teach, and marking ......) The nib is, for my style of writing, absolute perfection, like wearing a bespoke suit, and I'd bet a good deal on the proposition that anyone who uses fountain pens could find a nib amongst the 18 or so on offer that would fit them perfectly.
I have a couple of Pelikan's, Twsbi's and Waterman Expert II pens. Each writes nicely. Each carries a price tag higher than the Churchman's. In fact I could have bought ALL the pen's I have purchased from Mr Pen and still had a lot of change from the price of the Pelikan M600.
My 2 Churchman's are my first choice pens and I use them every day: they are as all good tools should be - they do the job, are comfortable to use, though weighty, are themselves well made and beautiful, important aspects of the whole process of writing!
Wonderfully smooth nib - good on ya Peter
Wonderfully smooth nib, made available in a wide variety of grinds at an economic price. My Churchman's Prescriptor Fountain pen feels and writes as smoothly as a pen ten times the price. A quality product backed up by great customer service and prompt overseas delivery.I intend on being a repeat customer.
Mr Pen is the best pen retailer I have…
Mr Pen is the best pen retailer I have ever dealt with my two recent purchases have both been delivered in less than 15 hours. the Italix pens which can only be obtained from Mr Pen are superb quality and have a choice of 15 nibs which I understand are German made but individually ground by Mr Pen. The personal customer service is second to none If I could I would give an extra 5 stars HIGHLY RECOMMENDED,
Very impressive product god to see…
Very impressive product god to see there is still plenty of people using pens and not just tablets and pcs
Scratchiest Nib of them All
The pen is build very nicely, but the nib is scratchy out of the box. Very disappointed as I expected better service. Every time I write with it, the scratchiness actually raised goosebumps on my arm. Tried to return the nib but Mr Pen took a long time answering the email and was very defensive. I can't be bothered with returning the nib or dealing with him.

Wonderful Pens!
I just received a Parson's Essential today with medium italic nib. I ordered the pen after purchasing a Churchman's Prescriptor through Massdrop. Previously I had never heard of Mr. Pen nor the Italix brand. I am now an avowed fan!
These two pens are excellent writers, well designed and reassuringly well-built and weighty in the hand. I have a growing collection of fountain pens, with mostly French, German, American, Japanese and Chinese pens. But I have a strong feeling that my two Italix pens will remain among my favourite daily writers for many years, outranking pens costing far, far more. Keep up the good work, Mr. Ford (aka Mr. Pen).
The Parson's Essential, Best value of money pen
The pen quality is great for its price and feels just right in my hand. The have many selection, I choose italic fine left foot oblique. It's my first time to write with oblique nib but the pen writes well.
Definitely will buy another one in the future with different nib and color.
Sterling service
Last week, I ordered a Captain's Commission fountain pen and a nib unit for Parson's Essential from Mr. Pen. The order has been placed late at night - and on the next morning, I received a shipping notification. In only five days, the package arrived to the post office in Ramat Gan, Israel. And what a package! A stunning pen in an elegant presentation box, and an equally great nib unit for my older Italix pen. Both are great writers, solidly built and impeccably finished. Much recommended!
