Excellent Service

I paid extra to have my Canon 700D delivered on a specific date. SLRHut did not let me down. I am extremely pleased with my purchase which was a lot cheaper and I had more items for my money than I would have had if I had used other internet sites. Many thanks. Great service

Poor customer service unable to get right battery charger for Canon G7X

KEEP AWAY! I will NEVER buy anything from SLR HUT or recommend anyone! It's been a month I've purchased a Canon G7X Camera from them. I read mostly positive reviews online about the company and office was UK based so I thought that's great, I didn't want an oversea company in case they sold me fake items. To my surprise I received the camera from the USA! I thought never mind. The camera seemed fine except I was sent all European leads. The battery charger was a two pin and and I had a travel charger to attach into the sockets.

I called the SLR and spoke to an adviser Patrick ext 329 saying I'm unhappy and want to return my item. I didn't see the point paying £349.99 for camera and having European charger when I live in the UK. Patrick assured me it was an error from there end and they will post a UK canon charger with a plug lead. He was really helpful and provided me extension number If I had any further problems to contact him.

I received my package with few extra goodies screen cloth, case, travel adapter, Memory card etc. I was sent the UK cord lead for the charger which I requested but not the battery adapter to go with it.

So I emailed customer service; thanking them with a picture of what was sent to me and requested a battery adapter to be sent.

Their response; Kyle.C from customer service:

"Shanaz,
This will connect into the s**t adapter we have sent you. go straight into the EYES

Sincerely,
Kyle C.
Customer Service Department"

I was surprised by the response and again insisted to send the adapter which they missed out. We exchanged few emails and all Kyle.C did was trying to convince me to use the charger as it was full working condition and he didn't think anything was wrong with it. Only later he gave me options either to buy the charger separate or return original charger and they would post out a UK battery charger. Which he should have done initially!!

I then called Patrick on the extension that was provided to me, explained what was emailed to me he genuinely sounded surprised.
I told him I was happy to post the original charger long as I got a UK one, he told me there was no need. Another package will be sent out to me. He assured me It will be right adapter on this occasion.

A week later I received my package and all I got was a white travel adapter again!!! No battery adapter. I called several times over 3 days but rang but went to the automated machines. I reluctantly emailed customer service and KYLE.C replied again saying we do not stock UK canon charger and I will have to use what was given. The same Kyle.C previously said either I purchase a new charger or return existing one to receive a new one and now they don't stock it completely!! I asked why are you being so difficult and keep changing the information, I again repeat I am willing to post charger, it would cost me under a £10. I rather pay that £59 for a charger in the UK!!! Since then I've had no response and nor can I get through on the phone.

So after all that I'm still stuck with a canon G7X without UK battery charger but have the lead. If I was to sell this in the future it will be difficult without UK accessories and I would get less money for it. My overall experience has been far from a great one to return back, any future buyers will be put off. My advise is to stick to a reputable company, pay bit extra and save yourself the hassle of being played around with. A company who's information is universal throughout and doesn't change with advisors.

My first order

I am very happy with my first order, I received a call offering additional item before the order was processed, not pushy, I declined and my order was despatched. The tracking service provided by DHL was brilliant.
I have since placed a second order with SLRHut, when placing my order, I mentioned in the comments that there was a slight issue with the packaging, I received a call the following day from Joseph to discuss the issue, they were keen to know about my issue and ensure that they can put safeguards in place to ensure that they provided a better service to all their customers. I cannot fault their service at the moment, and if my second order goes as smooth as the first they will get top marks from me. Oh, and they added a small gift to my second order for my inconvenience. Great service so far.

Nikon D5500 Body & Nikon 18 - 200 zoom

I placed the order via the internet on Tues 3/11/2015 total cost was £710 for the D5500 & 18-200mm zoom package, the package included some useful and some not so useful ancillaries. By return of email I was asked to ring them to expedite the order (bit of a sales ploy asked if I wanted a second battery etc) declined the offer and stuck with £710 deal and was happy for the free delivery. Started getting emails from Slrhut stating order received, then despatched. Then kept in loop by DHL telling me delivery brought foreward now going to be Fri 6/11/2015 instead of Mon 9/11/2015.
Received package all good, can't fault the service, Excellent.

Appalling company – suspect product

The worst company I have ever dealt with. Purchased a Pentax K3 body from them in January not realising they were based in the states ( co,uk ? that is suspect for a start!) Camera went wrong in July. Contacted SLRhut was told I would need to pay for shipping to get it to the states for inspection. I was adamantly refused a refund or replacement. Eventually they agreed to arrange collection – that did not go as smoothly as promised which should have been a warning. I was promised an expected repair turnaround of 4-6 weeks. They had my camera over 3 months and each time I contacted them by email or phone I was fobbed off with excuses. They clearly have no supplier service level agreements in place, no customer service training, no interest in the customer and are only interested in selling. In addition to emails I must have spoken to at least four different agents including an alleged manager. Some would promise anything to get me off the phone: others were discourteous to the point of rudeness.
Finally I resorted to the credit card company for dispute resolution and surprise, surprise after the credit card company sent them a legal letter, my camera has suddenly been returned. No accompanying repair note, nothing to indicate what if anything has been done just a standard note thanking me for my purchase (really?) and a promise of a free gift of a micro fiber cleaning cloth to add insult to injury.
Whether the camera will now function correctly remains to be seen but no matter how tempting their prices might appear I would advise anyone to look elsewhere. This company has nothing going for them. Certainly not happy with the products they sell and their customer service is crass beyond belief.

A very prompt service when they have stock

I ordered a Canon EOS 1DX which I was told was in stock and paid for a 2-3 working day delivery. When the third day arrived with no delivery, I rang the company and asked about the delay. Many apologies were made and re-assurances given and I was told that I would have the camera by the following Tuesday. A check on their website on the Monday showed that the camera had at that point not yet left their premises and a further phone call said that deliveries were expected that afternoon and that shipment would then take place. I took this advice with a pinch of salt but upon checking the next morning saw that it had left New York en route to me and at 0949 hrs on the Wednesday morning it was duly delivered.
If only they had had the item in stock as initially indicated then they would have met my requirements. The camera as supplied was spot on and at an unbeatable price so I am not making too much of an issue of the matter.

Good experience

I ordered a Pentax K-3 at a great price, ordered 12th October, delivery on 15th October was so swift it caught me on the hop, if couriers were trained in the use of doorbells I would have had the camera in my hot sticky paw that day, but redelivery sorted that. Very efficient service and the camera is great. Would use SLR Hut again. A bit of hard copy info. on what is covered with the extended warranty would be good.

Definitely worth considering

These guys are cut-price box-shifters, but in my experience (just one order so far) they're OK. They'll make sure you phone them if they haven't phoned you first, to try to sell you more stuff. It's a bit annoying, but they weren't pushy, and a £100 price cut on a £500 camera is worth the minor hassle. Once my order had been "approved", they voluntarily upgraded it to fast shipping, and it arrived, in good condition, in about 3 days. Can't complain at that.

excellent prompt service for canon 6d

just bought a canon 6d of this firm . a little bit dubious to start with because the price is so good .. no need to be . yes I got an email asking me to contact them and yes they try to sell you some extras or upgrade , well of course they do its a sales company after all .I did in fact upgrade a little for a very good price , The camera arrived just two days later from New York with fully tracked delivery , absolutely flawless service throughout ,would definitely use again .. just note this is a USA company not UK so not to sure about warranties but remember the 6d is £300 cheaper it is up to you ,, but the company is absolutely fine IMO

INCOMPETENT AND DODGY

I ordered a camera through SLR Hut, under the condition that that it must arrive by the end of the week (which was promised to me in an email). After going to the trouble of explaining how important it was that it arrive in time, and paying 40quid extra for express delivery... what happened? They forgot to dispatch it to DHL. 36 hours after ordering, DHL still had not received it. I alerted this to the SLR Hut team, who were oblivious and clueless as to what had happened. After speaking with a supervisor and making it clear that I wanted a refund, as the camera arriving after Friday is useless to me, he said as far as he knew it was sent days ago... but if hadn't been sent, it wouldn't, and I would get a refund (and he gave me his word on this). What happened? hours after that promise I received an email from DHL saying that the camera had finally been dispatched from the SLR Hut in New Jersey. Now, it's Friday, the camera is waiting in New York about to be sent to London, with an arrival time of Tuesday. I'm leaving the country and now I don't know what the hell I'm going to do with this camera, or how the hell to go about a refund. What I will say is that my experience with SLR Hut has been one of incompetence and dodgy behaviour. If yr a potential customer reading this take it as a warning...

Shambles of a company - Liars, Untrustworthy, DO NOT DEAL WITH - UPDATED!!!!!

Ordered a Tokina 11-16 2.8 from them. When the lens arrived there was something rattling inside and the lens was dead. I had got home from work at 10pm that night and so was unable to contact them straight away due to them being shut.
At 1pm the next day I finally got through to them as they didn't open until US morning time. I spoke to a person on the phone and explained what the problem was. At first he tried to say there was nothing wrong with the lens and the noise I was hearing was the OS motor focusing (obviously not as it was coming up with a error when connected to the camera) I explained to him that I wasn't daft and knew when something was not right.
He then said I would have to return it to them in London at my own cost. I told him that I would not be paying for the return cost as this was not my fault. At which point he then went on to say that if I did not return the item to NEW YORK (notice this was london 2 minutes ago) then I would not be getting a refund. The call ended on a bad note and straight after I put the phone down to them I was on the phone to my my credit card company (Luckily I had paid through this way) They advise me that it was their responsibility to pick up the item from myself if it was faulty when arrived. They then took the claim on for me and I had numerous dialogue with my credit card company over thing SLR hut were proclaiming to have done or would do.
I ended up sending the lens back to SLRhut at their cost (a courier picked it up, as opposed to them firstly saying there was no way they could do this) I took pictures of the lens before I sent it back to show that it was in unused brand new (but faulty) condition. I also took pictures of the packaging I sent it in.
2 weeks later my credit card company contacted me and informed me that SLR hut admitted the lens was damaged but this was caused by usage by myself!! Luckily I sent the pictures off to my credit card company and they agreed with me that i was the innocent party and returned my money. I was still a little aggrieved that the credit card company had to swallow up the money that was lost and not SLRHut. In theory although I got my money back they for all there cheating lies and swindling did not lose anything either.

If this review puts at least one person off dealing with them then it will have done its job to stop some other poor person being ripped off by these con artists!

I still have all emails and dialogue from them and the credit card company so if any proof is needed I could post it right up here!

No one should ever deal with them!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Damo

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

OK, So further to me posting this review on here SLRHut contacted me via email and blatantly offered me a bribe to remove the feed back left on them of which I will paste the text and replies that were sent to each other. As a fair reflection I will post my replies to them so the dialogue can be seen as I was willing to give them a chance to sort out their awful service!

Well we dont want to end on bad terms and want to offer you a store credit for £100 on anything you like no questions asked. Good for one full year.

For whats it worth we know we could have and should have handled this better, and we are making strides to offer better customer service and this is the first step.

You can buy anything you like. We want to try and make it up to you any way we can.

Anything you want/need or something that you're interested in, email me right here on this thread and i will hook you up.

All I ask is that you adjust your feedback online.

You dont have to remove it completely, because that would be unfair to you. Adjust it to however you see fit. 5 stars would be amazing, but again I know that asking too much.

######Reply 3

Hi

I would willing to adjust it with a follow up after it at how you have offered a compensatory offer and that as you have stated trying to improve you customer service.

That would only be after the compensatory offer had been offered and received.

May I add that this could also now been seen as a bribe. As in your first email it was "no questions asked". To which you've now just "asked" for me to change my feedback.

The monetary value is insignificant to me and is not a deal breaker in me amending my feedback but as you have said you would not like to end on bad terms I am willing to hear your offer and a safisfactory outcome. After all my reputation is not the one at stake.

Regards
Damian

No questions asked meaning anything you may want in the store.

Or that it could be applied to a larger purchase and in turn you would get £100 off that purchase. Just as a possible incentive to do business with us in the future. I personally am here to insure that you don't have a bad taste in your mouth after all is said and done.

So if you wanted an Apple product or a Bose product, you can apply it to anything - no questions asked.

Sorry I didnt make that clear in the email.

My main concern is your overall happiness, and I will do anything to make you happy.

Almost anything

######Reply 4

Hi

After consideration would accept the item below as a compensatory gift for the sum you have offered. On receipt of the item and it being in satisfactory condition (ie - not faulty on arrival) I will revise my feedback to add the resolution and the offer of goodwill you made to resolve a bad situation that you created. This would also be reflected in the grading awarded regarding the whole sale from start to now.

I believe you would still have my details for the item to be delivered.

As stated before I view this as a token gift and the monetary value is insignificant to me. Just a shame that to get a more positive outcome it has taken a truthful review and more than a year in time for it to happen.

I await your response

Hi

I gave you my terms and you have blatantly dismiss that. Basically you are bribing me to adjust my review. As stated I will not be adjusting the reviews that are there but adding a follow up of what is happening right now.

If that is not a satisfactory outcome for you then

A) you are only interested in protecting your own reputation and nothing to do with a goodwill gesture on my behalf.

B) I will not enter into any more dialogue with you should you continue on this direction

Outcome.......

To this day I have received no further emails from SLRHut and nor do I wish to have any further contact with them. They have shown themselves to be even worse and only looking after their own reputation so they can mislead more people into buying goods off them!!

Again and still I have all emails and correspondence as proof of the dealings I had with them and will keep it to prove my experience is a truthful one!

PS trust pilot stated that I had to remove the senders email addresses from my review so I have done that

Incident but dealt with

I ordered an Nikon Df from SLR hut there was an incident with my visa card and payment was rejected. It took a week or so to resolve the issue but that was done satisfactorily. It is true they ask you to phone and try to sell you add ons like batteries and lenses but they just ask about 3 items then bid you a good day. OK it's an "american thing" but just a minor inconvenience. Camera arrived and is just what I wanted at hundreds of pounds cheaper than the high street ... Not sure how well the warranty will work but thankfully Nikon seldom brake ...

Liars, frausters and unable to provide a simple UK VAT invoice

Well the problem is that they have no company registered in UK, ask for an invoice with theirs details (like the law is requesting) and they will fail to provide you with one. Therefore please be aware of:
-with no invoice you will not be able to deduct your purchase on your company expense (professional buyers be aware)
-no warranty (except their warranty if they want to cover you or to reply to the email)
-you can not buy insurance for your product (professional buyers be aware)
-do I have to mention that they are not paying any taxes in UK ? that's the smallest issue with them, really
-customer service is very bad, when they don't have an answer they will just forget to reply. simple as that
-their sales people will lie you over the phone about their products ("the battery was tested and approved by Sony", later you will check with Sony and find out that it's a lie if not even a fraud.); obviously after purchase they will not admit & solve the fraud.

If all the above is not bothering you and you are looking just for the smallest price and you do not care about warranty and all then go for it. For sure you will regret later but it was your decision, remember that.

MY advice is STAY AWAY !!!!
