Such a fantastic, engaging party, led by Kate, for my 11 year old daughter and 9 friends. Everyone had a wonderful time and produced some fantastic pop art inspired artwork.

Restarting art in my 50s
Coming back to art in my 50s having done very little at school and a 10 week course in my 20s, it is helpful to go somewhere that provides all the materials and has a structured programme initially. I have been coming for a couple of years now and I think Lydia at Wimbledon Central is really helpful in pushing you on a bit further with each piece and in providing advice when you ask.

Experienced teachers
Experienced teachers. Very understanding and sensitive to pupils needs and abilities.
It's also good that we don't have to bring our own equipment. Lovely sociable atmosphere but also friendly silences while we all concentrate.

8-year old's birthday party at art-K
We had my 8-year old's birthday party at art-K Wimbledon last weekend. She and her friends had a great time to work on a joint art project together (that nicely comes together at the end and the birthday girl gets to keep it) as well as individual pieces of their own. Our party leader Dan (based in the Reigate branch) was great to work with the girls and lead them in an age appropriate way.

Children learn great variety of…
Children learn great variety of artistic techniques at art k. It’s great how they develop and work on projects over weeks. I highly recommend art k. It teaches art but also discipline. I’m very impressed and our girls really like their art teacher Ragini in Wimbledon.

Disappointed
I did not want to leave a bad public review at first and wrote privately to the teacher. Unfortunately there was no response or reaction from Art-K, hence I decided to actually share our less positive experience publicly.
My son (now 9 y.o.) started at Art-K Wimbledon central nearly 2 academic years ago (Oct 2021). We enrolled him because he was showing a lot of interest and aptitude for drawing. At first he was very engaged in and enjoyed the classes. As time went on he took longer and longer to produce any artwork in classes and what he was producing was frankly not at the level on an 8 year old. I think it all went really downhill from about January 2023. At this point he never even reaches for the paper and pencils/brushes at home to draw, he lost all interest.
He did not mind going to classes but I don’t think he was engaged and teachers did not seem to care. Lately he also started telling us that he does not want to go anymore, so we will now be discontinuing the classes. I know and teachers knew that he has some SEN and communication issues that were not helping. But this being a small class environment I thought something could have been done differently to engage and challenge him.

I want to emphasize that our team, including myself and my assistant, has put in sincere efforts to personalize the Art-K projects to suit your child preferences and skill level. We recognize his exceptional creativity and imagination, and we have always aimed to encourage and motivate him to flourish artistically. Witnessing his ability to visualize stories and transform them into remarkable artwork has been an inspiration to us.
Despite our efforts, we understand that sometimes a student's interests and aspirations can evolve over time. As much as we would have loved to continue working with him, we respect his decision to pursue other interests or academic pursuits. We sincerely wish him the best on his academic and life journey.
Please convey our heartfelt appreciation to your child for being a part of our Art class. He has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on us with his extraordinary talent and dedication. Should he ever decide to return to our classes in the future, we would be more than happy to welcome him back with open arms.
