We had a great experience on the Rotterdam. It is a beautiful ship. The staff, food, and entertainment were fantastic. All of our excursions went flawlessly. We would definitely cruise with Holland America again.
The staff was excellent, friendly, smiling, could not do enough for you. Unfortunately on this cruise there were quite a number of people coughing and sick. By day 2 the cruise stopped all self serve in the buffet. It spread quickly though as people would not mask up to protect others. By day 3 I caught it and was sick the rest of the cruise. Had to go to medical to get checked and receive medication. There were people quarantined that we knew of. As a result I could not go to the gym, pool, or any evening shows. When we did leave our room, my wife and I wore masks but no one seemed to care if others got sick as they coughed there way through the ship. Fortunately they had a great room service menu. The one thing the cruise line could have done was hand out masks and encourage use if you are coughing. I know they don’t like to admit people get sick on cruises but they could do a whole lot more to stop the spread.
