Great communication from all team members with super fast response and updates along the process. Without them we wouldn't have gotten the case resolved.

Equivo keeps trying to get my review removed

Equivo keeps trying to get my review removed because it doesn’t want you to know the truth.
Equivo had to pay me compensation because it breached its own rules and the law. Despite this being pointed out multiple times over many months, causing considerable stress, Equivo refused to investigate or review until threatened with legal action.
Equivo’s failures included attempting to take me to court (case thrown out by judge) and endlessly threatening me.
Equivo can continue to try to whitewash its reviews but I will continue to provide my honest experience of this company. This is provided for the use of clients and those Equivo pursues on their behalf.

Over promised or under delivered-You decide.

We took Small Claims Court action to recover an unpaid funeral-related debt of approximately £1,500. The claim was not defended and judgment was entered in our favour. The debtor received a County Court Judgment. We did not receive our money.

We were then advised to transfer the judgment to the High Court and instructed Equivo. Its enforcement officers were presented as having greater powers and more effective methods of recovering the money than County Court bailiffs. Check out the Equivo website. It is certainly impressive.

We paid the required fee and expected the lawful judgment of the court to be enforced. We were led to believe that vehicles could be removed or that goods to the value of the debt could be taken if payment was not made.

Equivo issued a Notice of Enforcement by post and email. Despite being given Equivo’s bank details no payment was ever made. An income and expenditure form was also sent but was never returned.

Equivo was subsequently provided with redacted, medical information which it considered sufficiently credible to classify the debtor as extremely vulnerable.

An enforcement officer attended the address but could not gain access. A calling card was left. Equivo then say they received an angry telephone call followed by a lengthy complaint. We were not advised about this at the time.

The complaint caused enforcement to be paused while Equivo responded to the various allegations.

The debtor then entered the statutory Breathing Space scheme. Equivo was legally required to suspend enforcement until that protection ended three months later.

Once the Breathing Space had expired an officer is reported to have returned twice. Calling cards were left. There was no response.

Equivo then informed me that it was no longer appropriate to continue attending or contacting the debtor because further attempts might be regarded as harassment.

So despite:

• a legally valid debt
• a County Court Judgment in our favour
• the judgment being transferred for High Court enforcement ( Equivo)
• notices being served
• several enforcement visits
• the debtor repeatedly discussing a payment proposal, Equivo was unable to act in any meaningful way.

Equivo was also unable to establish the authenticity or validity of the medical information presented by the debtor. We were told that this was because of data protection restrictions. This meant that the evidence could not be independently verified.

It appears that Equivo is effectively impotent to do anything other than knock on a door and ask for money. I could have done that.

Equivo appear to have no more cards to play and I am left wondering whether they ever really had any to start with.

I have now given up. I am disappointed, disillusioned and need to close this toxic chapter.

This is the extraordinary position in which we have been left. The court acted lawfully. Our claim was legitimate. Equivo’s High Court enforcement process was lawful. We followed every procedure we were advised to follow.

Yet the person who owes the money and whose failure to pay created this entire situation appears to walk away completely scot-free.

Meanwhile we have spent additional money and considerable time pursuing a judgment that has proved worthless in practical terms. The process has achieved nothing other than creating further costs for us.

I appreciate that enforcement companies such as Equivo must comply with the law and must take genuine and properly established vulnerability into account.

Communication has been very poor, I’ve called for updates considerably more than they have called me, then today a single, clearly last minute rush to provide an emailed, detailed ‘report’ once I started to raise my voice appeared. ….Bear in mind this has been with Equivo for months. It is my belief that the company appears to promise considerably more than it is ultimately capable of delivering, certainly in this case.

Any business considering paying to transfer a judgment for High Court enforcement in the expectation of a better result should understand this. Obtaining a judgment and instructing High Court enforcement officers like Equivo does not necessarily mean that the debt will be recovered. It does not even guarantee that any meaningful enforcement will ultimately take place.

I am not criticising individuals I have dealt with as they have been consistently polite. My concern lies with the expectations created by the process itself. I am simply setting out the facts.

So read this very carefully and make up your own mind about whether you should throw good money after bad with a company that effectively can promise nothing. You decide.

I made a personal enquiry to Equivo…

I made a personal enquiry to Equivo about a request to recover an outstanding debt.

I spoke to a very kind and supportive lady Alison, who was extremely helpful, kind and offered a great deal of legal support around my enquiry. Despite not actually being able to continue with recovering the debt, and/or obtain any business from my enquiry, she was very informative about what could or couldn't be done. She was invaluable in offering the correct help to me.

It's nice to know there are employees and companies out there who really care and also go over and above in helping the public, when they're lost in debt recovery procedures and issues. Thank you.

Arrogant and Unprofessional

They came to push out our neighbour and they ruined all common spaces around while moving them out: all stairs have been scratched and the main entrance too. I pointed to that and they have been aggressive, arrogant and unkind to me.

Exceptional team

I had an exceptionally positive experience dealing with the team at Equivo on a complicated case. Throughout the entire process, they were professional, understanding, responsive and incredibly efficient.

What impressed me most was not only their competence, but also the level of support and reassurance they provided during what was, at times, a very stressful situation. I genuinely cannot recommend them highly enough.

In all honesty, I only wish I had discovered Equivo at the very beginning of the process, as I believe everything would have been resolved far more quickly and smoothly from the outset.

A truly premium service delivered by fantastic people who clearly care about what they do and the clients they are helping.

Debt recovery from a difficult customer

We were really happy with the communication, throughout our experience with Equivo, totally stress free! We were notified at every stage of the process and when they were visiting the defendant company.
All information from the Enforcement Officer was relayed to us. The attention to detail was really appreciated. Even though the series of actions was a long process, their professionalism was first class.

Communication leaves a lot to be desired

When I first found this company I felt cautiously optimistic. Their website appeared professional and the reviews at the time were reassuring.

However, after raising an enforcement case a year ago, I’ve found that their communication leaves a lot to be desired.

The initial steps were handled well - I received a phone call and an email from the Transfer Up team explaining the process, and I followed their process. Seven months later, I received an invoice requesting payment for High Court and Compliance Fees, which were higher than what had originally been outlined. But by that time, the terms and conditions on their website had changed.

Throughout the process, I repeatedly highlighted how elusive the defendant was and provided detailed information to support the investigation. Despite this, I found myself having to chase for updates every 3–6 weeks over a five‑month period. Not once has anyone proactively contacted me with an update since the very beginning.

Sadly, this is not the first time I have experienced a company operating this way. Use at your discretion.

I had a difficult case that had been ongoing for months with no resolution. Equivo took over the enforcement and handled everything professionally and efficiently. They issued the writ, carried out enforcement, and recovered the full amount owed to me. Communication was excellent, and their team went above and beyond to help. I highly recommend their services.
