Very disappointed my son went in for a adhd and autism assessment came back and speech delay. He got scared and masked not surprised a 6 year old shouldn’t be in a room on his own with strangers who has special needs! I appealed which then they took the speech and language delay off but still came back as no to autism and adhd
Yet everyone can see it including me because 2 of us in the house already have it. School saying Autism . Just very disappointed don’t care about the diagnoses it’s more so he can understand why he is the way he is. And as he grows get the support he needs.
I am going private and wish I had not picked evolve and gone with owls like my daughter .

We were first contacted by Evolve Psychology in April 2024 confirming receipt of our son’s NHS referral. We completed all requested paperwork promptly, but then had to chase them just to confirm that they had received it. That confirmation did not come until June 2024, when we were advised that the waiting list was 24 months.
An account was finally created in December 2025, and our son’s first assessment was in January 2026. Unfortunately, the appointments were then handled incorrectly, which meant we had to wait again for a further appointment in February 2026.
Since that point, we have chased several times for an outcome, only to be told that they needed more time. We are now 5 months on from the initial assessment and still have no clear outcome, no proper update, and no confidence that this is being handled appropriately.
Communication has been shockingly poor throughout and at times completely absent. For a service dealing with children and families who are already under pressure, this is simply not good enough. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Evolve Psychology to anyone seeking an assessment.

Evolve psychology services are absolutely brilliant! We used the rights to choose option to help our son with getting his autism diagnosis. The team where amazing and really understood our son and what he was going through. Sally Pitts and leese bourton thank you for all your help and support on our son's journey, he is now able to understand himself and who he is as an individual.
I will definitely recommend evolve psychology services to those who seek help and understanding.

I cannot recommend Evolve enough! From start to finish. I was bracing myself for a long, drawn out ordeal, but they kept me updated.
What really stood out to me, though, was the exceptional support. It’s so rare these days to interact with a team that genuinely cares. They didn't just pass me through a generic system they actually listened to everything we said and For the first time in a long time, I felt completely heard and understood by a support team.

The staff are all lovely but the whole system needs a shake up
I first applied for an assessment in 2024. My child was assessed late 2025 and it’s now May 26 and I still don’t have a written report, it’s been 10 weeks now since we received the verbal diagnosis.
It’s not the kind of service I expected I’d receive unfortunately.

I had a very positive experience with Evolve psychology clinic during my daughter’s ADHD assessment. From the beginning, the team was professional, patient, and very attentive to detail. They took the time to listen carefully to both my concerns and my daughter’s experiences, which made us feel truly understood and supported.
The whole process was handled with care and sensitivity. They explained everything clearly and made sure we were comfortable at every stage. I especially appreciated how thorough they were, nothing felt rushed, and every detail was considered.
Their communication was excellent, and they were always respectful and kind. This made a big difference for us as a family.
I would highly recommend this clinic to any parent looking for a comprehensive and thoughtful assessment for their child.
Thank you for your support and professionalism.

Not at all impressed. Initial referral via Right to Choose for an adult autism assessment was straightforward enough. I chose Evolve because of the detailed information on their website combined with the fact the had an office a few miles away in Newcastle for on-site assessments.
The referral was sent to them at the beginning of December 2025 and I received the forms to fill out toward the end of December which were completed, returned and on their system by the beginning of January. So far, so good.
They did have a query regarding the forms, and I was a little concerned that after replying to their email, they felt the need to ask the same question again and if I was absolutely sure. Since my answer was quite clear, I couldn't decide if it was excessive diligence or if they thought I was a bit dim.
I then heard nothing more until earlier this month (April) with an appointment for an online assessment using Microsoft Teams.
Since they do both online and in person assessments, I had assumed I would be asked which I wanted, but apparently not.
I emailed to request an in person appointment and explained that I didn't have any webcam or microphone equipment that would be required for an online video call. Their response was to ask if I couldn't get someone more technical to help me set it up.
Not exactly suggesting they read emails properly.
I emailed back and again explained that it wasn't that I wasn't technical enough, I didn't HAVE the required equipment. I even went to the bother of explaining that I had a webcam at one point and found I was so uncomfortable being on camera that I didn't use it and once it was obsolete never replaced it.
Their response? Couldn't I borrow the equipment from someone?
For an entity that appears to be predominantly dealing with Autism and ADHD, so two groups of people very likely to have issues that need to be worked around, they weren't in the least accommodating. In fact they would have been hard pressed to be any less helpful.
I asked about getting an in person appointment at the local location a few miles away. Answer, no they aren't doing them there, I'd have to travel nearly 100 miles away to Harrogate as they were only doing assessments there.
I did point out that the website still reports them as available both to private and right to choose patients. Checking the website today (2 weeks later) that still hasn't been changed.
Since online was out and I can't travel that far I asked them to just cancel the appointment as it wasn't going to be an option and I would have to get a normal NHS referral and just wait a few years. They were very quick to confirm the cancellation and stated they would inform my GP.
Three days later they contacted the GP to tell them I had been discharged from the service because I had failed to complete and return the required forms.
Whilst I have no idea what Evolve are like at psychology, their communication is poor and efficiency and attention to detail are abysmal. It also seems the information on their website is outdated and can't be relied upon.

Evolve have always had great communication when needed and have found the assessment period fairly straightforward but thorough, any questions answered and really lovely people who carried out various parts of the assessment with my son and myself. We waited abiut 2 years from joining the waiting list but that was the average wait time so to be expected when using right to chose.

Very fast and helpful in getting help for my son. 13 years later and someone actually listened to us. Right to choose helped to be seen faster. My son was on a 5 year waiting list with the neurodevopmental team.

Attended an ADHD assessment with my 13yr old son at the Harrogate branch.
First off, absolutely beautiful setting!
I went through ‘Right To Choose’ which had an almost 2 year wait time, but I was kept updated as to where we were in the process. They also liased well with school to gather as much information as possible.
It was a 2 part assessment and both therapists were brilliant. So patient and accommodating, knew when and how to get him to engage but also when to hold back when they could see my son was struggling. Been told to expect their report in a few weeks after his case has been discussed.
Would absolutely recommend Evolve for anyone seeking a professional, thourough and comprehensive Neurological assessment .

I went through the right to choose option through my Doctors. I had to wait a long time for the appointment. But I believe it’s a lot quicker than the NHS. I was waiting two yeas prior on the NHS. I think once I did right to choose, I waited around 9 month.
There were forms to fill in, but they were useful.
Then I had two follow Zoom appointments. Each to assess different things. Both were with different people. Both ladies were knowledgeable and understanding. Also very professional and explained things well.
To get my diagnosis at 52 yea old is a massive relief. My life struggles now make so much sense!
Would recommend highly.

I went with evolve through RTC for an autism assessment for my 7 year old. They were amazing from start to finish. Very professional, very thorough and very understanding! I was convinced we wouldn't get a diagnosis because my child is a very high masker, but they were able to see through that and picked up on things in school that I wouldn't have ever thought of! Such an amazing place and a fantastic service. Eternally grateful for the thoroughness of their assessment.

I have arrived at Evolve Exeter with my 14 year old for a combined AutismADHD Assessment, it is in an office block and my daughter has been taken in but parents cannot attend as they have no waiting space, we are also not allowed to leave the building so I am sat in an office block reception with 5 seats for 2 hours. It feels awful to watch an anxious child be led away and I would like to be on hand, introduced to assessment staff, or even on the same floor. I don’t even know the name or role of the person that has taken her up. So my initial reaction is disappointment.

From start to finished I felt listened to and respected. I was given clear instructions/definitions to things if/when needed. My personal 'issues' were never used against me in anyway. The staff I have spoken to here have been incredible and amazing to speak with. Response time to emails have always been great here too, never did I wait longer than 48 hours unless it was between a Friday and Monday. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone needed help getting a diagnosis.
