On 22nd May 2026, i fished Swim no 39 Roadbank East, thinking that it was part of Roadbank Shallows 😬 Oops 😫 my bad. Bailiffs we're very understanding & empathic to the fact that I had all my gear set up & seatbox positioned nicely in the water etc, therefore was reluctant to move. So full marks to those good guys. However, I experienced the opposite from whoever ( & there seemed to be a never ending arrival of family or friends or both from 16 30! ) on Swim 41 nr the point on the Shallows. The noise & foul language from the 2 anglers from 08 30 up till this time was bad enough, including a period when one of said anglers was taking casting coaching lessons from his mate, which resulted in me having to share my swim several times when his mate didn't listen & overcast into my fishing spot 🤔😔😡 I would also like check what latest rules are regarding parking on the roadside?? I understood it that you only park there to unload & load ur fishing gear, rest of time u park @nearest car park, as I did 🤔 I appeared to be in the minority, as there were a lot of vehicles on Roadbank just above their swims all day! 🤷 I would appreciate feedback please to my issues raised in this review.

I had to disposed of litter in swim 37 that had been left before hand. Cans and bottles. Not really a problem, seems to happen every where.

Lots of dog walkers with very noisy dogs . Some swims full of litter and broken glass bottles in edge of water on road bank . Good fishing though but wouldn't feel comfortable leaving car in road bank car park as doesn't seem to be locked at night .

During my visit no bailif came around to check Anglers. Rules are stating that no loud music and drugs are allowed swim next to me group of lads had a party while fishing and smoking cannabis other anglers asked them to keep the noise down and smoke away from the swims but that was not working. The location is beautiful and can be relaxing but with idiots being allowed to break the rules the experience is low. This place needs more strict supervision.

Had a good day, some other Anglers were quite unsanitary with regards to using trees next to our swim as a toilet and our neighbours smoking some questionable substances, also lots of people shouting to eachother early in the morning, other than that it was a really good experience will be going again all gripes aside

It would be great for fish care if the swims could be dug out a little deeper just around the edges to assist landing fish. Sometimes it’s almost as if you are dragging them over rocks to get them in the net. I wear wellies so it’s not so much of an issue for me personally but I see the potential for issues with other people

Far too busy , with hundreds of people walking around, which is fine, but having park away from where you are fishing, and leaving all your gear unattended is very worrying. As it would be very easy for it to go missing.

A 30+ acre lake that fishes well all year around, going from 3ft at one end to 24ft at the dam. With a large stock of both silvers and Carp spodding over zigs can produce some massive bags and generally avoids the Bream that appear to pave the bottom! The lake is not fenced and is fully open to the public, has a 'B' road running along one side and a gated track across the dam and along the other. This is area gets very busy especially at weekends and during the summer, but is never actually quiet, even on a cold wet winters day there are always walkers and dog walkers around. If fishing alone this makes it impossible to leave your gear, so using the Portaloo is out and recent forestry work means a strong bladder is essential on all but the road side!

Mr J Manley sorted me out in a great professional way. I wish all customer service agents would take a leaf out of this mans book. My rating is 10 out of 10 for both the venue and there customer services department

Beautiful location with many swim options and fantastic scenery. Friendly dog walkers and occasional horses trotting by. Helpful and friendly bailiffs to top off a wonderful fishery.
