I really wish I could love these shoes. They look so good. but there are just things wrong with them that make them not a good choice of running shoe. First time i wore them i got a blister at the back of my foot. Not that unusual for new shoes, but this shoe has just never fit right and always rubbed at the back of my foot. Interestingly the material is very coarse in that area and not well padded and with very little use they already wore through in that area. The other issue I had with them was the plastic material the lace eyes go through is such that it doesnt grip the laces at all, and the laces have no give in them so they are always coming loose and then undone. It's not a problem of double lacing, its a problem of how ever much you pull the laces tight, they dont grip through the eyes. I only used them for a handful of runs and now just use them for casual wear. Bit of a waste of what could have been a great shoe.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback, but we are sorry to hear the TrailFly Zeros aren't as you hoped. We did update the rand on the V2 version to give a more secure hold when tightening your laces, so you might find that the TrailFly Zero V2 would work better for you. With regards to the heel rubbing, we would suggest trying a lace lock (if you haven't already) as this should hopefully stop you getting blisters and the area rubbing.

I hate these shoes. I had a pair of Inov8 trailfly G270 Zeros and they are the best trail running shoes I have ever worn. Unfortunately they are not made any more and this is the replacement. My previous shoes were 7.5 standard fit but in the end I ordered 4 different pairs. The same size are just too small, the wide fit 7.5 and 8 are too big and in the end I went for the 8 standard. They were fine on short trail runs but on a long rough run just that fraction too long and I kept tripping. No fun at all. I'm going to give them away

Great shoes overall. I like the new foot shape and wide fit. I love the full coverage of the outsole without any exposed foam. The outsole grip and durability are very good. The midsole feels nice and is very durable as well (at about 600 km I don't feel any excessive compression). I love that the insoles are also very durable, not like from other brands when insoles are compressed just after a few runs. (In my trailfly speed I didn't notice any insole compression after 800 km.) Overall, the full combo of outsole, midsole, and insole gives enough foot protection on stony trails. The upper feels tough and a bit too busy with the overlays. The tooth like overlays in the toe area bite into the upper as the shoe flexes during run. This led to a hole in the upper at a bit less than 600km. Also the overlays are pretty hard and developed some cracks at the flex points. The overall fit of the shoe is a bit weird in the heel area. I feel like my heel is pushed medially, and the upper is a bit baggy in the mid foot area on the medial side. I did not have similar feeling in my trailfly speed, probably due to different shape of the foam in the heel area and different upper. Probably it is because the foot base at the heel area is narrower compared to the insole width in the heel. Overall I like the performance of the shoe. I use it everywhere: on tarmac, fire roads, single tracks, and very technical trails. I'm impressed how well the shoe handless technical steep downhills. I also ran a 6km road race in them and managed to get an impressive time.

I loved the Trailfly 270’s and I love these too. In a world of “marshmallow” shoes…Iam so glad Innov8 have stuck with a Zero drop shoe.

Too soft as compared to previous Terraultra G270. I have 2 pair of G270s, which I love. The new wider toe box is much appreciated, but would have been good if original G270 sole/midsole had been retained.

You know....I was asked to write a review for you before and I did. It was a 6-star review. It was such a good review that they doubted my sincerity and facts, so I enclosed a picture of me at every 100-mile marker on my successful thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail with my INOV-8s featured in every pic because I thought the TrailFly and it's precursor (the Terra Ultra) were hands down the best trail runner on the planet. THEY STILL DIDN'T BELIEVE ME!?!? They asked me to provide receipts of my purchases and I told them EXACTLY where to go....so since then I quietly order my INOV-8s and ignore every request until now. By the way, I appreciate progress in the evolution of your business, BUT...when you keep modifying/"improving" a particular model until they no longer resemble the awesome trail runner that we all loved and then...we have to find something else to wear and start all over. If you make so many modifications that it's a different trail runner, just call it a new model and leave us the ones we first loved to live in? Thanks. I'm training now for the PCT and I will never stop long-distance hiking or INOV-8s..there doesn't exist one without the other...please leave me my zero-drop TrailFly trail runners...Thanks again. YOU ROCK!

Awesome shoes! I mean, it is easy to say and write it on the web, but those shoes really changed my running. It all started from a double plantar fasciitis that I got after using "too much drop" shoes, thinking that with more drop and cushioning it would help me. Proved out to be the wrong approach. Train the body first, then use good gear. Those shoes perfectly match my heel-striker needs, particularly during strong downhill sessions, preserving my heels. Very very good grip as well, and precise positioning of the feet when using the shoes on harsh terrains. Definitely a game changer for me, it gave me the extra new kick I was looking for nice quite long now! Thanks! PS: the RoadFly Zero are just the same level of perfection to me, meaning, take the trail shoes and turn them into road shoes with appropriate external sole. Smart and genius!

Wide fit is still too narrow for those who can only use Altra wide fit. Tongue is top thin, slides around. This shoe should be a trail version of the road fly with different lugs but unfortunately it isn't. Two pairs of your new zero drop shoes; trailfly and mud-talon, both of which are too narrow causing nerve pinching/numbness. Now I have shoes I can't use and loss of money.

My G270 V2 -wellknown- qualities but with natural shape and a REAL wide size; a dream come true! Previous feeling of my frontfoot compressed (big toe) and overflowing outsoles is gone now, and that's wonderful. More protection so less sensitivity underfoot: time will judge. Super shoes till now!

With recent foot issues due to shoes that didn't fit right, I was looking forward to the TrailFly Zero. I really like the zero drop and wide toe box, as it is comfortable and lets my upper foot expand. Other shoes feel confined. Unfortunately, even though I accurately measured my foot and used the sizing chart, the shoes are too small. My feet barely fit inside them with the thinnest of socks. Since I live overseas, I wait a long time for delivery and returning isn't an option. My previous INOV8 shoes have been great. They fit well, were comfortable, and lasted. These not only don't fit, but the toe protection is too firm and rigid. Perhaps with use they will loosen up and streatch a bit too. Toes crossed! However, I should not have to count on that for a close to proper fit and comfortable feel. Since I can not easily return them (I am moving back to the US in the next month) I will continue to try to get them broken in and see if they feel better. No reason to use bad shoes, foot problems are too serious.
