I bought a refurbished MacBook Air (M1, 2020) to replace my much-loved MacBook Pro (Intel, early 2015, Retina). The Air is a little smaller and substantially lighter than the Pro; its power supply (30w USB-C PD) is much smaller and lighter, and as a bonus can charge many of my other devices. The 13.3" screen is the same size, similar resolution, and possibly a bit brighter (but the 2015 Pro had a superb screen for its time). Both have Apple's excellent build quality (the Pro still looks like new after 9 years of daily use). The Air can run up-to-date MacOS Sonoma and should accept further MacOS updates for several years yet, while the Pro was stuck at MacOS Monterrey. Finally, the Air is noticeably faster than the 2015 Pro. All in all, an excellent replacement and certainly more than adequate for my needs.

Having bought refurbished items before, I was expecting the odd blemish here and there, but in the case of this MacBook, there is a small scratch on the underside, and other than that it looks like new. Even the keyboard looks unused (a sign of the wear and tear). So, a rough 50% saving on a new one, and with a 12 month warranty thrown in, you can't really knock that can you?
