I cant praise the instructors at Phoenix enough.
I cant praise the instructors at Phoenix Colchester enough. Last year I passed my CBT (2nd time) with Scott and Rob who where fantastic. This year I booked my Mod 1 and Mod 2 with them as although I had had some bigger bike lessons, I really needed some structure and guidance and knew I would find it here.
I had my Mod 1 training with Rob who is just brilliant. His relaxed approach calms you and his encouragement and guidance instilled me with confidence so much so that I passed first time. Mod 2 training was with Peter which was full on but I learnt so much in a day it was really worth it. Scott took me for my Mod 2 test and again, such a skilled instructor, who is easy going and supportive. Although I was extremely nervous, he did his best to calm me down and to focus on all I'd learned. It paid off because I passed Mod 2 too!
Seriously, if you are thinking of any kind of bike training, these chaps are the best at their craft. They make you feel part of the team, make you feel welcome (being a woman that was comforting) and the training and guidance is top notch with some witty banter thrown in too!

The staff who taught me my cbt were absolutely amazing, clear instructions and in depth detail to their training, top quality people and training would recommend to everyone
Brilliant Instructors
Just spent a day doing my CBT, all the instructors were very professional and patient, making sure everyone understood the importance of the knowledge they were sharing and took time to ensure that we all developed the skills needed to keep us safe. It was a hot day so plenty of breaks to cool down. I will definitely be back to take my full license here.

My instructor Rob at Colchester was absolutely amazing. Clearly had a real passion and helped me in every way he can. It didn't feel like a course more like someone who actually wanted me to pass and was proud when I did. Absolutely amazing

Absolutely thrilled with my motorcycle training experience at Phoenix – truly a zero to hero journey!
From CBT with Scott through to Mod 2, his calm, clear instruction built my confidence from day one. Rob nailed Mod 1 training – super knowledgeable, patient, and full of practical tips that made the test feel easy. And Paul on the Big Bike training? What a legend. His advice, road awareness coaching, and sharp eye for detail elevated my riding to the next level.
I booked an extra Big Bike lesson, and it was worth every penny – the improvement in my confidence and control was huge. Phoenix delivers seriously good value for money, with a team of friendly, experienced instructors who clearly love what they do. The bikes were in top condition too – smooth, responsive, and ideal for learning.
Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to polish your skills, I highly recommend Phoenix. I went from knowing nothing to holding a full licence – and had a great time doing it!
CBT Colchester
Did my cbt test at Colchester on Saturday, would like to thank Rob and Scott for making me feel relaxed right from the start, it was a long day but under their expert tuition it was enjoyable and fun. Will be going back to do module 1 and 2. Thanks again lads. Mark.
Big thanks to Paul and Rob
Big thanks to Paul and Rob for helping me pass my MOD1 & MOD2. Been on an A2 license for sometime now. Really great to finally be on a full A license and refresh my skills as a rider. When I look to do more advance riding courses in the future I know where I will be ringing. Thanks again :)
Late for his lesson
Whilst I do not condone my son for swearing, no excuse but he was stressed out due to he was 15 minutes late.
The postcode that we was given sent us up the wrong road so we could not find it.
We tried to google on the phone but was in a poor signal area but eventually was able to use Google to find. This took us to where we needed to be.
Now my son got out of the car walked over to the fence and tried to grab the attention of the instructor, he made it clear your late and that’s that I’ve been here since 8.15 good for you one you know where you work Two you need to get the bikes out ready. Could see only a moped was out.
My son swore no he shouldn’t have but it was not directed at you. Then he gets told don’t swear there are kids here😲 why it’s a training place not kindergarten.
I went over to chat with the instructor he knew I was there as he saw me but chose to ignore me. I explained the situation that it was not my son’s fault as I am the driver, well he was rude unprofessional and could see why someone might swear at him.
I guess he is nether late or unable to find somewhere lucky him. But his rude attitude and unprofessionalism, quite glad my son did not have any lessons with him.
Not bothered either about the £50.
His mate was just as rude and laughed well fantastic couple of blokes.
Fantastic CBT training
Scott at Phoenix Motorcycle Training was excellent from start to finish for my CBT last weekend. Instantly establishing trust and a rapour, the instruction was perfect; patient and understanding throughout. I will certainly be taking further training with Scott and Phoenix.
Staff were professional
Staff were professional, friendly and spot on with advice helping me to pass mod1&2 first time.
Brilliant company and a huge shout out to Scott for being an ace instructor.
I’m not a big one for reviews but I really just wanted to give my CBT instructor Scott a shout out.
He genuinely cares and is passionate about what he does. He makes the day a laugh and enjoyable whilst comprehensively teaching you everything you need to know to give you the first taste of the road on two wheels. He’s an absolute credit to Phoenix and I’d recommend the company to anyone thinking about taking their CBT purely down to the great experience I had with Scott.
Can’t wait to be back in January for training for my Mod 1 test 🙂.
Just watched 2 learners take a left…
Just watched 2 learners take a left hand corner,, NO LIFE SAVER, Did say to the long haired instructor and was given a torrent of abuse, apparently I know nothing. So having g a bike licence it's seems is irrelevant, Not a convivial trainer, needs to improve his demeanor and manners....

Big thanks to Rob and Paul
Big thanks to Rob and Paul for guiding me through to complete my CBT, Mod1 and Mod2. Very good experience👍👍
Day refresher course
I had a days refresher course with Paul, it was ace! I’d not riden a bike for 20yrs 😱 Paul’s expertise, patience and knowledge meant that I’m already back on the road!!!
If your confidence has been knocked or like me, you’ve not been on a bike for yonks, please put yourself in Paul’s safe hands. Thanks a million
First class
Passed my mod 2 today so I now have a full motorcycle license all thanks to Paul the instructor at the Colchester site. Paul’s knowledge and teaching skills are first class as this helped me getting a pass today with zero points too. Couldn’t be happier. Many thanks Paul and Phoenix Colchester.
Top Tier Training!
I did my CBT with Phoenix Motorcycle Training. Rob was my instructor, and what an amazing one at that. He made sure everything we did on-site was up to standard, if I missed anything he would let me know so I could improve on it. Rob was calm and collected throughout, supportive, and he had a cracking sense of humour. He also gave me the reassurance and confidence boost I needed to secure my CBT certificate.
Nice little selection of bikes to ride, all of which looked to be in good condition. Lots of gear to choose from if needed, though I brought my own.
I'll definitely be using Phoenix for all of my motorcycle training needs.
My instructor was Ian Burchell
My instructor was Ian Burchell. We were both there early. I really enjoyed the day. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Would answer any questions. Very easy to get on with. If I took any further training would happily do it with him
