Great confidence boosting
The initial meeting was very thorough and positive. The finding of a tutor took a little longer than expected, but once the tutoring started it went very well. My daughter grew in confidence and felt capable of tackling her GCSEs. She built a great rapport with her tutor. Hopefully all this good work will be rewarded with the results in August.
A wonderful tutor and a personalised approach
Our tutor has been absolutely wonderful. We have a very perceptive child who usually takes a long time to warm up to new people. When our first tutor wasn't quite the right fit, switching to someone else was completely hassle-free. Our second tutor has been fantastic. She truly understands our child, puts so much effort into building a real relationship with him, and tailors the work perfectly to his needs. She also communicates brilliantly with me to ensure we’re completely aligned on goals. I highly recommend Spark Tutoring over those mass 11+ instruction companies that just use a one-size-fits-all approach instead of personalising the learning.
Superb!
Spark Tutoring has been the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle! GCSE maths tutoring brought my son from an expected Grade 5 to just 2 marks off a Grade 9!!! And now A level Physics tuition has given him the confidence he needed to excel again! (Can’t wait to see his result)! Online lessons that are totally flexible has been a godsend and the tutors were superb!
Sparks tutor Tom was excellent
Sparks tutor Tom was excellent. Our son enjoyed the sessions and gain much needed confidence in English.
Highly recommend Spark Tutoring
Spark tutoring has been seamless from beginning to end. The initial assessment was thorough, the process clear and tailored to my daughter and her specific needs.
My daughter’s tutor was amazing from the off. She made her feel really comfortable and considered and supported. She was flexible to our needs too. Although there was noticeable improvement in my daughters grades and understanding it was my daughters confidence that grew most and she went into he maths GCSE more confident and determined than ever before. Especially positive for a subject she actually doesn’t enjoy.
Overall I would highly recommend Spark tutoring as they tailor the learning to the individual needs of the student which I believe was the first step to my daughter’s happiness and willingness to learn and her overall success.
Thank you.
Excellent tutor experience
Tutor was great, connected well with my daughter and kept her focussed
Spark tutoring has been amazing for my son
Spark tutoring has been amazing for my son. The matching process is very carefully done, so your child is comfortable and confident with their tutor.
The support and communications is great, for everyone involved, including myself, we would highly recommend Spark Tutoring.
For every 25 signups Spark Tutoring fully subside support for a child in need, which is a great thing to do.
We are happy with Spark tutoring and would highly recommend them.
Knowledgeable and reliable English Lit tutor
Our daughter has been having weekly online tutoring for English Literature A Level. Her tutor is knowledgeable, proactive and an excellent communicator. My daughter feels she can relate to her tutor as she is young and so is very familiar with the curriculum and exams.
Her tutor is reliable and flexible where possible.
The hourly rate is well worth the quality.
We used Spark tutoring for the first…
We used Spark tutoring for the first time after a recommendation. They match an incredible Maths tutor (Sophie) to my daughter and we could not be happier with how the experience went.
Sophie was prompt, flexible, polite, knowledgeable but most of all patience and inspiring with Milly. The sessions were fun, well planned and interactive. Thank you Spark and Sophie for being amazing. Signing up daughter number two next year!
Really happy with Spark
Really happy with Spark after seeing a recommendation. The sessions have given my daughter more confidence. The flexibility to have the session fit around the child’s needs is great. My daughter likes both her maths and English tutors. We did change English tutors after a few weeks as my daughter felt the fit wasn’t right. As promised in my initial call, the tutor was changed and she is really happy now.
My son enjoyed his tutoring very much
My son enjoyed his tutoring very much. The 2 tutors he had were fantastic and relaxed. It suited him to have then online as it was less intimidating than in person. Thank you
I discovered Spark Tutoring after seeing @TheBraleyFamily feature them online
I discovered Spark Tutoring after a recommendation from @thebraleyfamily. After an initial discussion, I knew that it would be perfect for my 8 year old daughter who was struggling in school.
We are currently having our daughter tested for dyslexia - the impact of this is that she's often a bit slower than others in her class at school and quite often the teachers move on before she's had a chance to fully understand.
Spark Tutoring did an assessment and have tailored a teaching schedule to address the areas in which she struggles the most.
Our daughter loves being able to do it online, she feels grown up being able to take the lesson in her room on her iPad as it gives her a sense of independence and the tutor is kind and very accommodating.
I would highly recommend Spark Tutoring for anyone looking for additional support for their children.
Maths SATS tutoring
My daughter started having weekly maths sessions ahead of her SATS papers as she was really struggling at school.
She can be very shy with new people and was initially very quiet in her sessions, her tutor has been absolutely brilliant at building a friendship with her and it’s now so nice to see them chatting away during sessions, which has really helped with her learning and being confident to ask questions.
Her tutor is really patient in getting her to understand new topics and has introduced some great and fun ways of helping her to learn and remember ways of working things out.
I have seen such a difference in her confidence in maths, she went into SATS week with a positive attitude instead of the previous nerves and upset she had been feeling around maths. Her teacher has also mentioned that he’s seen a real improvement at school too, which is so great to hear.
We will be continuing with sessions now in to secondary school too for extra support for her learning.
The sessions have been great and such a huge help!
Fantastic tutoring - really made a difference
I signed my 7 year old daughter up for a session a week to boost her confidence with her learning. Spark asked her interests and matched her with a tutor who she idolises which is so lovely. She really looks forward to her sessions and has even said how much it’s helped her in class already. Would definitely recommend.
BEWARE
So I want to begin by saying this is not about the Tutors. My young persons tutor was amazing – we had two and they were fantastic!
This review is about the lack of cost transparency amongst other things!
I reached out to this BBC supported company at the end of March, to provide some extra support for Maths and English. When you initially reach out you are bombarded on email and whatsapp, to sign up. This is a mixture of AI bots and Humans.
We set up a meeting that included myself and my young person and ran through the areas of support needed. We were then provided with LOADS of forms to complete, almost duplicating the initial intro call. These forms come through via Whatsapp, and I would say I am pretty good with tech, but given the amount of forms and links being sent, email would have been easier!
Anyway, beware here – Your bank details are taken and you are agreeing to a subscription. Once this is signed you are literally at their mercy and they can charge you whatever they like!
Ask for a full breakdown here – at this point! Do it otherwise you will be in my position, just randomly being charged money and helpless passing it over!
At this point there is silence, No AI bot on whatsapp, no human comms. I thought I had been scammed! I checked my bank account, my emails, companies house and social media – praying that I had not bee scammed!
Finally around 2 weeks later I get a message – We have two tutors.
So here is the thing, I do not think they have tutors lined up and ready to go. I think they then have to find them. Review their books or whatever and this is why you wait. I really do not mind this and would be happy to wait, but communication here would have been great.
Also my young person needed help immediately!
You then have a initial 30mins with a Tutor, check compatibility and from there book your session frequency. Mine was one math’s and one English each week.
So, lessons start April in the Easter hols.
I am billed for April and May immediately – absolutely fine – this takes me to June and the start of exams. It’s expensive, but the reviews are good, so I trust the process.
Our Tutors were fantastic! Really did provide the level of support we needed. However the frequency and the appoints are not always set and I became a PA for my young person trying to coordinate each week. Now when you spend almost £500 on tutors support, you would expect a little more guidance coming from Spark Tutoring. Unfortunately not, so each week, I am trying to track the lessons, I am having to ensure nothing is missed. This is less than ideal when you are already managing a stresses young person with exams.
Anyway, then we cut to the end GCSEs end nationally pretty much the same time – so why would I need to renew for June? I am asked about this, and I provide the exam schedule and kindly ask from our tutor support’s help she fires off a load of advice, I willingly accept and I provide the 28 day notice – its kinda obvious if your young person has no exams from 15th June, that you no longer need any tutors.
So all is wrapped up, and so I believe. But no – today I receive another bill! But hang on, I have had confirmation that I have given appropriate notice, I double checked the billing, I actually paid June 1st, so I should be done????
I have had 3 emails from accounts today and have demanded the full breakdown of costs. I strongly advise you to do the same if you engage with Spark.
So my advice today for anyone reading this is:
• What is the initial fee
• How much per session
• Be really transparent about when you want the sessions to start and finish and get confirmation in writing.
• Cancel the subscription with your bank immediately leaving it open will allow them to take whatever they please.
Just ask the right questions.

Low confidence
My son was very anxious about sitting his chemistry exam with just 8 weeks to go before the start of his GCSE I saw an advert for Spark tutoring and got in contact. It was a straught forward process and from the first session we could see a huge difference in his confidence and understanding within this subjet. We are extremely grateful to Noah and the team at Spark Tutoring for their support and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality GCSE tuition.
Excellent online tutoring
Excellent online tutoring. Did an initially assessment that was thorough and was patched to suitable tutor. Payments were clear and the lessons were always prompt and they were flexible to adjust days/ time when needed.
My son lacks confidence in his work
My son lacks confidence in his work , having a tutor has seen him thrive in exam conditions ! His tutor grasped his personality quickly and used strategies to get the most out of each lesson ! My son went into his A levels , calm, composed and confident - mostly thanks to his tutor nailing down his weaknesses and really drilling hone the learning required ! Many thanks Sparks - I am sure my son will get far better grades thanks to you ! And best of all I was able to sit back and be mum during his revision times knowing his lessons were always 100% nailing it !
Really positive experiene
We’ve had a really positive experience with Spark Tutoring - they found a great match for our son (A’Level maths). We’ve seen an academic improvement, and an increase in subject confidence. Communication is good, and billing is transparent. We’d highly recommend them and will be using them in the long term and also for our other son who is starting GCSEs next year.
Excellent support for my daughter’s GCSE exams
Spark Tutoring provided excellent support for my daughter in preparing for her GCSE Maths and English exams. They took the time to match her with a tutor who was well suited to her needs, and arranging sessions was straightforward, with plenty of flexibility and availability to fit around our schedule. The tutoring sessions were tailored to my daughters’s individual requirements, and any last minute requests to the session content were always accommodated. The online platform is easy to use, and accessing sessions was simple and hassle-free. We have been impressed with the quality of support provided and would recommend Spark Tutoring to anyone looking for personalised and flexible GCSE tuition.
