Tone veers to the "flute-like" of two oboes blended together, than the "reedy." Your expectations and preferences, or mix EQ, may adjust accordingly if you wish for it to stand out in a mix rather than be a supporting flavor that fades back and blends. Like all the Pro series, much character can be controlled via mic positions, but this can be a high cost-- both literally and in RAM-- for what may be intended to be supporting character a2 woodwinds. On the plus side the amount of articulations and execution is peerless. For the price, a soloist along with the a2 pair would be both more useful and realistic for the customer to expect at the pro price, compared to competitor offerings. Perhaps Spitfire will consider a significant discount for a2 owners who have shown faith in the series, should (hopefully!) any woodwind soloists be released.
