I just bought this one on sale. It sounds of course great and is very useable for quick mockups and ideas. However, I can honestly say that I prefer other more recent Spitfire libraries: I own BBCSO Core, Appassionata Strings, Spitfire Solo Strings, Abbey Road One, many of the Original Series and MORE. And I can tell that the Albion feels like an older thing. I believe all of the other I mentioned sound better. But maybe it's just what I have gotten used to. :) Don't get me wrong: Albion Legacy is awesome, but the other are a step above, I think.
I didn't know anything about the Albion series. But I'd heard great things about them. When I could, I got it. I didn't care that it was a version that was a long time old and had been reissued by popular vote. I wanted to know what it was like. I took a chance, and without a doubt, it's one of the best libraries I've ever tried. Every sound is carefully crafted down to the smallest detail. My God! The amount of things I'm coming up with now. I was really surprised by "Brunel Loops." Any patch in this block is incredibly versatile. I haven't thoroughly tested "Darwin," except for a few patches that I haven't gotten much use out of. "Stephenson's" is very attractive; the pads, drones, and other options offer tons of possibilities for creating atmospheres at certain moments. Of course, "The Albion Orchestra" is the reason I tried my luck. It takes time, yes. But the quality is there, and it shows, oh yes, it shows. In terms of use, I really like the new engine and interface of many of its libraries, but I also feel comfortable with Kontakt, so I haven't had any major issues, and the options offered are more than acceptable. Thank you very much for reissuing such a work of art. I will try to be as good as you have been in the care and attention you have put into each of its components.
Out of the box, instant classic film score sounds.
A full orchester for a good sale price. The sound is excellent and you get a lot of variations.
A wonderful product I could never afford at the time of realise. Such a great instrument to add to what I do.
The sound is great for a string library where it's possible to have the entire range of orchestral strings on a single midi track. Perfect for the kind of sketchpad approach I use for arranging. The only drawback is one that is fairly standard for many string samples, that is that there isn't sufficient attack on the notes to accurately represent shorter note values.
Amazing product, beautiful sounds simply stunning.
