Product details

Brand: Spitfire Audio

A beautifully recorded, meticulously crafted acoustic guitar with emphasis on the soft and delicate. Recorded at Spitfire HQ with a pair of vintage Neumann U87’s, MG Soft Acoustic Guitar brings the soft sweet tone of a Martin J-40 steel string acoustic guitar, featuring various playing modes including a feature-rich chord / strum system and a fully customisable step sequencer plus a MIDI Drag and Drop feature. With deep sampling covering all guitar-related articulations including mutes, harmonics, slides, slurs, vibrato and string/body hits. Recorded and scripted from the ground-up by composer and virtuoso guitarist Mike Georgiades, this guitar aims to set a new standard for virtual guitar libraries, offering a remarkably authentic sound out of the box, and helping to demystify the workings of the guitar for non-guitarists.

It's being used solo and duo from my next release.

Demos made this one sound infinitely better than it does in reality. Hands down the least realistic and playable acoustic guitar I've purchased to date.

Spitfire products are first rate. As a non guitar player I always felt stymied not being able to record covers and originals of guitar based tunes without being able to play the instrument. Until now! MG Soft Acoustic Guitar delivers the goods. Since I picked up this sample library I can't stop recording and making new discoveries. Thanks Spitfire team!

I was looking for a very dry and warm acoustic source — and this is it! I love that it doesn’t have an artificial feel or the typical bright, jangly tone of a steel-string guitar.

This is probably the best guitar 1st on the market right now for delicate guitar work. The demos are quite impressive.

Only issue is you have to watch the videos to know how to use many of the basic functions...

So far, it's the best acoustic guitar emulation in my opinion.

An excellent acoustic guitar - works great in Kontakt and the samples are very clearly curated with attention to detail in mind. One of the best acoustic guitar sample libraries I have heard. Thank you Spitfire Audio!!

Wonderful Library! Super clear sound, definitely recommend it!

Excellent sampled instrument library but NKS tagging needs to be fixed to be consistent with MG Soft Nylon Guitar Library for use in Native Instruments Kontakt/Komplete Kontrol.

I haven't had the time to try out the MG Soft Acoustic Guitar yet which is why I have only given four stars. I'd give five stars, however, to Spitfire for continuing to produce affordable (as well as free) sample libraries. Such libraries (and plug-ins) are always very tempting but usually way outside my budget. That changed for me when I was able to get the BBCSO, Discovery version, absolutely free. I subsequently upgraded to the Core version when Spitfire held one of their regular sales, another feature of their business model which I find incredibly helpful . So more power to their collective elbows for really supporting all musicians, regardless of their budget. Thanks!

I purchased this instrument with high hopes and excitement. It had all the features and articulations I need. After purchase and installation the instrument began acting up and I couldn’t get it to play simple note patterns as all the notes were played with a slide up articulation that I could figure out how to stop. The instrument now is so bad it’s unplayable. I have contacted the developer twice with some help but no solution. I would like a refund as this is unusable or at the very least a store credit for 150$ as that’s what I payed for this unusable product.

I bought because of the warm tone of this guitar sound. It's lack of f dynamics but if you are not going to use it, it's fine. The engine is great. There are some round robins that has high dynamics, should add compressor to help tame some of those.

ncredibly authentic reproduction with a warm sound. When played correctly, it is very difficult to recognise the difference to a live guitar. Playing the chords (strumming) is not so easy and the user interface for the sequencer is also not entirely intuitive to understand. It's always a good idea to watch the walkthrough. Overall, I would have liked to have seen more examples showing more playing techniques. Nevertheless, I haven't regretted buying it for a second - very, very nice! Instructions aren't clear on how to play the chord mode, but overall it's a good guitar vst. I run it through Guitar Rig 7 and it's fantastic.
