An impulse buy priced gateway drug into modular. I bought this and a microfreak from store dj recently. Since then I am a few thousand dollars poorer. Pic includes an overlay from heinakroon which features colour coded jacks to help sort your signal routing.
A great first synth.
Sounds nice. But hard to work out how to do stuff on it.

Bought this for my partner and he loved it.
A fantastic 1osc (by design, yet other aspects of the synth can oscillate at audio frequencies therefore becoming a 2 or 3 oscillator synth) semi-modular monosynth. this is perfect for teaching synthesis to beginners, and I have used it this way with my students. Due to its great price synthesis students can afford to buy it for themselves and follow along with the lesson on their own synth. This is not always possible when learning on vintage, rare or expensive synths.
This is all working ok except one glaring omission. Out of the box there is no midi sync in. This is 2020. I bought a drum machine in 1984, just after the introduction of midi, and sync was fully enabled. As is I would have to use this as the master clock of my whole studio (including computer) and there is no tempo readout on the Crave. OK, I got the "Synth Tool" which contains the latest firmware (no instructions included for use). Apparently the midi sync problem is fixed in this release. Obtaing this information required considerable online research but should be on Behringer's site. Try going online to get the firmware and "the cloud is maintaining" - forever. How much maintenance does a cloud need. I have spent 3 days on this and enough! Life is short, either put out instruments that work out of the box or make something else that you can get right. This is too cynical even for me. Eventually I gave up and used a Korg Volca as a midi to sync interface and that works. Mr Behringer do I really need to use equipment from a rival manufacturer to get your product to work.
Another clever unit from the innovators that are Behringer. Very well made. A good size - everything easy to see and access - unlike the annoying trends from other companies. A simple unit with some complex possibilities.
