Over the past year, I’ve ridden extensively in Umbrail apparel across a wide range of conditions, distances, and terrain. What started as curiosity about a relatively unknown brand has turned into genuine loyalty to a company that clearly understands what matters most to cyclists.

For me, the true test of any cycling apparel brand is its bib shorts. Comfort on the bike is non-negotiable, Across countless road rides, mountain bike adventures, training sessions, and races, Umbrail’s bib shorts have consistently delivered. The fit remains secure, the support stays exactly where it should, and comfort is exceptional—even after many hours in the saddle. Having ridden for more than 20 years, I can honestly say they rank among the most comfortable bib shorts I’ve ever owned.

What has impressed me is the consistency of the apparel over time. After more than a year of regular use, frequent washing, travelling, racing, and training, the kit continues to perform as well as it did when new.

I also appreciate Umbrail’s approach to design and bold colours. The brand has a distinctive identity, without chasing trends, and its products feel performance-focused without becoming overly technical, balancing both function and style.

No brand is perfect, and Umbrail’s biggest limitation is probably availability. Outside Italy and parts of Europe, the products can be difficult to find and online ordering from overseas carries uncertainty for me. As a result, whenever I come across the brand during my travels, I tend to stock up. In many ways, that says more than any review could—when I need new kit, Umbrail is now one of the first brands I look for.
