Dobbies Garden Centres - SandyholmReviews 

We visited Sandyhome Dobbies recently for a dog gift plus coffee and scones. Managed to achieve both, especially enjoyed the freshly made scones, delicious!
The staff were friendly and helpful, the only downside with stopped me giving 5stars was the cleanliness in the restaurant, the chairs and surrounding carpet had not been attended too.

I purchased what I was looking for, an Orbiloc light for walking my dog in the dark. They are very good lights.
It would be useful to have the replacement battery packs available in store also.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Greeted with a smile and “good morning “ as I entered. A kind member of staff asked if she could get me a trolley when she saw me with my arms full with goods.

So love going to Dobbies we attended little seedlings each month. very friendly staff and atmosphere and enormous amounts of items for sale , I do prefer this garden center to the ones nearby

Heading in for lunch just after 2pm. Ordered at 2.30pm (baked potato and a gluten free toastie) finally got our food at 3.10pm. Almost £10 for a gf toastie made with the small half slices of bread (technically equal to one normal slice of bread). Restaurant was very messy with very few staff visible clearing tables etc. visited the toilets which weren’t the best and was confused to see a staff signing sheet to check the toilets hourly with no signatures on it and actually dated the 23/10? Very disappointing 😔

I bought 2 plants which I wanted and one was reduced so that was a bonus . I then bought new scone cutters and I had been looking for them in several shops and couldn’t find them anywhere else so very pleased.

We visit Dobbies weekly and always come home with plants, compost or bulbs. The staff are very friendly and helpful, as members we take up the offer for free coffees

Called in for a couple of chrysanthemums, place was very quiet for a Sunday afternoon. I always feel Sandyholm looks a bit neglected compared to other Dobbies.

Insufficient staff working at serving food and drinks resulting in a long wait to order and receive food and teas etc Staff very pleased but not well deployed

No herb plants at all and staff had no idea when any would be arriving. Waited 10 mins in a queue for a very poor cup of cold coffee. Plants were disorganised and needed a water. I could go on. This was not up to Dobbies brand standard as I remember it!

Well laid out store. Easy to park. Loads to choose from in every department. Lovely, bright cafe with very good selection of home-made meals, snacks and cakes.

Garden centre was ok as usual. Disappointed in the cafe. Stopped serving hot food at 3pm and cafe closed at 4pm. Since my last visit Sainsbury’s has been closed in it. Other Dobbies replaced this with a Waitrose but this one just closed the small food section completely.

Paid a visit today…..this is how it went ….ordered 2 salads waited 15 mins with new little alarm which bleeped ….expected to collect but was told sorry we can’t make these !!! Decided to have refund of our money rather than wait longer …stood in queue at till explained to cashier who said she would need to get the manager but made no attempt to .She just continued serving and left us waiting..after a good 10 minutes a girl serving tea could see we were being basically ignored so she asked another girl to process refund …in full view of the cashier…this young tea girl saved the day unlike the other one who made no attempt to call manager!one star rating is for the young girl who should be applauded..no stars for the waste of our time ….not all bad news though we then went to another smaller garden centre…lovely food and great service…be a while before we will be back if ever and that’s after years of loyalty.Poor poor to say the least.

There is a good selection of plants, well laid out and friendly staff

Won’t be renewing my membership. So disappointed with this garden centre, the quality of the plants was awful, so many were dead and extortionate prices. It’s a shame as the staff in restaurant were so friendly, shame about the lack of vegan options. Will be supporting local garden centres from now on.

Wonderful helpful friendly staff in Sandyholm where I shop, relax & eat .

Very disappointed at dobbies new policy for their dog friendly area. Supposed to tie your dog up and leave it alone to go to the counter and be served now.. no chance. For a start is a plastic fence round a small section with 1 way in and out.. my dog would pull that over to get to me. So either come with someone who can go to counter for you or avoid. Plus the 1 way in and out the dog area means dogs have to pass in close proximity. Not good if your dog is nervous. Should do table service if you can't go to counter. They have no signage to advise of the change that dogs are not allowed near the counter. We got 2 plain scones and they were brick hard, not worth the money. Won't be back

Good customer service. Staff polite and helpful. Good variety of shrubs and plants. Prices reasonable.

2 for £20 afternoon tea with 1 upgrade to Latte-50p and 1 savoury plate upgrade-£2.50ish?
We had absolutely no complaints! The price was extremely low for 2 people for the amount of eats.
Unlimited tea and latte.
Lovely fresh sandwiches-ham, salmon, cream cheese and cucumber, egg mayo. The egg Mayo was superb.
Homemade mini fruit scones with jam and clotted cream with an array of mini strawberry tarts, macarons, carrot cake and more.
Savoury plate had sausage rolls, vol-au-vents with prawns Marie Rose and cheese savoury. The vol-au-vents were a treat.
We had to ask for doggy bag as we were stuffed.
The table was ready waiting with a table cloth and some flowers with a window view of Clyde valley.
The staff were extremely attentive and polite. Can’t fault them.
I wouldn’t hesitate to book this again in future or recommend especially at the price!!
