Dropped off a brand new Accurist watch (been in the box for a long time and never used) for a battery change, the watch was as mentioned brand new never worn and not a single mark/scratch/scruff anywhere on the metal strap or lens. Paid £49.99 for the battery repair, asked the college at the shop if this watch is going to Accurist for the battery change and she said no its going to earnest Jones worship for the change. I completely trusted them as I have used earnest johns before for my Rado (twice) and the Rado was sent to the Rado's service centre in Southampton and it came back as it went. no issues. but my Accurist came back with scruffs all over the glass/lens and I was really disappointed with the service. I raised my concern with the staff and she has agreed the watch came back with scratches on the lens and offered to send it back for a lens/glass replacement, at first I agreed as I was very disappointed and then I asked her where is this watch going back to for the replacement and she said its going back to the same workshop. so I decided not to send it back as I do not trust them replacing the glass. I truly believe the local technicians working in local shops will take more care on the watches than the Earnest Jones workshop mechanics.

My wife bought an expensive diamond dress ring from Ernest Jones in Preston. It lost a diamond on the third wearing, an estimated maximum of 10 hours use. The 18 ct yellow gold ring had 11 similar size diamonds, one of which was lost when a claw came off. The estimate of repair was £400, more than 25% of the cost of the ring!
I asked why it was so expensive to replace one of 11 diamonds. The glib response was "the price of diamonds has shot up in the last year".
I took the ring to a reputable, independent jeweller. It was repaired for £130. In addition, it came with assurances that any problem, just return it to us. We will look after you.
(They also noticed that there was no indication on the ring of the gold content - no hallmark nor gold number.)
The lessons:
1. the ring was extremely fragile. The great care my wife took was not sufficient.
2. the repair price was extortionate.
3. the standard of service from EJ Preston was very poor on several counts.
4. EJ Customer Services are pathetic. The response to my complaint was literally a late Friday afternoon (16:29) tick box exercise ignoring all of the issues I raised.
5. Never do business with Ernest Jones. It is not only the Preston branch that is poor.

Ernest Jones Preston, Karen and Louise were fantastic. We’ll definitely be visiting for future purchases as their customer service was excellent. They both went above and beyond to help us after my husband’s wedding ring was too loose to wear after we finally got married. Full of knowledge too.
I visited the Preston Fishergate store where the ladies working in there were fantastic. Friendly and helpful. I had originally bought online and wish I hadn’t bothered. Going into the store was brilliant.
I purchased my ring on line as I loved it and the ring was a good price as there was a special offer on on receipt of my ring I thought it was lovely I wore it straight away and loved showing it off until I notice it was very scratched immediately I emailed the company and explain what had happened they told me a courier
Would pick it up and on receipt of the ring they would give me a full refund but this never happened they offered to re polish my ring sent me to a sister jewellers to do this the manager of this jewellers said the ring should never of left the shop in this state and referred us back to the orgi al shop which isn’t local so yet another car journey back to earnest jones Preston to deal with the problem which in my opinion was handled very badly the girl named (Lucy) lack any customer service and needs retaining the manager never even bothered to assist her basically we were total it was our word against there that the ring had only been worn for a few hours there policy was to send the ring back for a polish or a credit note even though there policy states 30day refund I didnt want the same ring as was frighten of it happing again so felt pressured into getting another ring I didn’t really want which cost me another £650 i suffer with anxiety and metal health issues I explained this to the assistant how hard it was for me to come into store and just wanted my money back not a credit note I am taking this further to head office if I get no joy there I shall take it to trading standard and will never deal with this company again or recommend it as there after sells leaves a lot to be very desired 😡

Very pushy sales assistant .. gave a budget and she kept pushing for a more expensive at 2-3 times more than we wanted to pay.
Didn’t listen to what i wanted and kept making unrealistic suggestions.
Walked out in the end ! Preston Store

Me and my partner called in to the Preston store with the view to buy a wedding ring after purchasing the engagement ring from them last year.
We was greeted with a very enthusiastic young lady called Laura-May who sat us down and dedicated lots of time to help me narrow down my search to my correct size and from lots of styles to one I really liked.
While we was doing this she had a colleague take my fiancés ring into the back for a clean and it came back gleaming, all part of the wonderful Ernest Jones after sales care.
Laura-May was fantastic and deserves recognition so thanks so much again
We love the Citizen watch we bought. Ernest Jones were selling it at a very good price, much less than other similar jewelers. We ordered it to be delivered to our local shop. The staff at the shop were excellent - polite, friendly and helpful.
The shop staff were incredibly helpful but the online team were useless and un helpful and no email confirmation was sent to collect my order so had to keep asking the useless online team until i just went in to the store team where they were again incredibly helpful
