The Real Asia Encounter was an amazing experience! It was a fantastic combination of countries, each offering something unique and truly fascinating. I learned so much about the local cultures and met incredible people along the way. Everything was well organized and full of unforgettable moments. The only downside was that the volunteer program in Sri Lanka didn’t quite match the quality and engagement level of the programs in India and Nepal, which were outstanding. Overall, though, it was a very rewarding and eye-opening journey that I’d definitely recommend!
Cool way to get to know the cultures of the countries and a nice way to travel if you’re not sure about going on your own.
Really well organised with each country adding more to the experience in its own unique way. All 3 countries were my favourite in certain aspects I was looking to get out of the travel. The three house owners and staff are amazingly friendly and well connected so there’s opportunities to do and go almost anywhere you want. The structure of the countries is also very good and wouldn’t have wanted to do it in a different order.
A safe and efficient way of travelling solo. The projects are well structured and there’s a variety to pick from. I especially found the projects in India worthwhile and you can see the impact they have on the community. The India team were fantastic and go above and beyond to make volunteer’s comfortable.
An incredible time!
I had such an incredible time on the Real Asia Encounter! Every country had something new to offer, and the teams were so helpful, welcoming and well-organised. I would recommend PMGY to anyone wanting to volunteer abroad!
Getting the opportunity to visit countries like Sri Lanka, India and Nepal while meeting countless new friends, is incredible and you'll make memories for life. The organisation of everything is professional, you have everything you need and you get taken care of. Don't be afraid and book this as well. You will definitely not regret it. Make sure to visit each country for at least three weeks. Time literally flies.
Definitely recommend! The difference in each 3 countries provides you with the perfect amount of experience. As a female traveller in places such as India I was provided with security and safety which would have been impossible without a company.
fabulous fabulous fabulous
The real Asian encounter was an amazing experience. I would have never of gone to the countries we went to without an organisation, so pmgy made that possible for me to do. They eased us into the new cultures and made it possible for us to see everything that we wanted to.
alright very different in the different countries eg had to pay for tuk tuks everywhere in sri lanka whereas in india they always provided us with transport if we wanted to go anywhere
I can highly recommend the Real Asian Encounter! 🇳🇵🇮🇳🇱🇰 I volunteered in the following projects: boy’s orphanage (Nepal), school for disabled children and mixed orphanage (India) and Mental Health project (Sri Lanka) and loved all of them! While the first three projects were very hands on the Mental Health project expanded my horizon within the psychological field. It taught me a lot about various kinds of mental disorders, was enriching and extremely interesting every single day. Even though some moments during the projects were quite challenging I felt valued for my help and could speak to the coordinators who made every effort to improve the conditions. The safety of us volunteers was the local staffs priority: whether airport pick-ups, offering own Tuk-Tuks or having an emergency contact while traveling, I always had the comforting feeling of being in good hands. The accommodations are basic but all you need. In two out of three countries you even have hot showers, common rooms with sofas and the staff members immediately repair broken parts. The food was always fresh and healthy, I loved trying out local specials and would much prefer only offering local instead of trying to make western one! On top of all you get special tips and contact numbers for your adventure travel on the weekend to tick off all the amazing ‘must-do’s’ on South Asia’s bucket list and get to see non-touristic spots too. Thx to everyone for the shared incredibly wonderful and unforgettable experiences I will cherish forever! One important message in the end: even if it says on the website that ‘you can choose any standard volunteering programme during the online application process’ the mental health project is not listed. In my case the local members arranged it for me but maybe one can change that to prevent the extra work in the future.
This experience was life changing and an amazing taste of Asia. These 3 countries are magnificent and the local team in each are extremely helpful in making volunteers feel safe and secure and ofcourse to teach us the ropes of the manic public transport and busy cuties.
I would highly recommend the Real Asia Encounter to anyone looking to explore various parts of Asia and/or spend an extended period of time volunteering abroad!
This was a great way to experience a range of countries and a good selection of projects were available. Although far more affordable than all other companies I found, the price point was still relatively high but within the context of the voluntourism industry that's fair. I had a great experience over the three months and I would recommend this to others who want to volunteer and see some new countries
Was really amazing experience. Great for first time solo traveller, but there is a lack of communication between PMGY and the projects
