Immersive and supportive
Amazing time in India with great support from the team
Very immersive and enriching experience, the best medical programme I’ve done so far. Highly recommend!
the medical programme was very good and hands on. the doctors help you get involved as much as you can and teach you along side it. the locations were really cool- such as the village med camp or the neuro facilities.
A really enjoyable experience
I had the best time volunteering!! Projects such as medical camps in homes, slums and different communities, hospitals and even watched surgery. I met some amazing doctors and felt like such a privilege with PMGY.
It was so great, the personnel was extremely nice and helpful too, Vishy especialy, he made the trip so much easier, helped us not only during the week while doing volunteer but also during the week end. He helped us plan our entire week end trip and it was so great. Honestly the best volonter experience of my life. I definitely recommend
I had a wonderfull time in India participating the medical program!
A great experience
I spent two weeks on PMGY's Medical Volunteering Programme, and overall it was a really valuable experience that I would definitely recommend to anyone. The programme was very informative, and I learnt a lot during my time there. I got to have a lot of hands-on experience, which helped build my confidence and understanding, as well as being able to observe surgeries, which was an incredible learning opportunity. The local organiser, Vishy, was fantastic throughout the programme. They were friendly, supportive, and always happy to help with any questions or concerns. The staff and local people were also incredibly welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The only downside was the facilities were more basic than anticipated. The bathroom did not have a shower or toiletries, which made the stay less comfortable. But I came away having learnt so much, gained practical experience, and made memories that I'll always value. I would definitely recommend PMGY to anyone looking for a meaningful and educational medical volunteering experience.
I learned different cultures of Idia, and can experience new circumstances of India.
I was able to do more than I expected from med camp to teaching. I would never forget my past 2 wks in india
i volunteered in Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka for two weeks and had an amazing experience. each day was well organised and busy, with a morning and an afternoon volunteer project as well as an evening group activity daily. one of the highlights was how much we were able to experience outside of volunteering. we had plenty of opportunities to explore Sri Lankan culture, visit different places, and take part in organised activities with the group. there was always something to do, making the experience both rewarding and exciting, alongside also having an opportunity to travel and see other areas such as Ambalangoda. All three accommodations i stayed in during my trip were comfortable and included everything we needed, with all meals provided throughout our stay. the support from the PMGY team was great all throughout the trip. staff members were always available to answer questions, help with anything we needed, and made us feel safe and welcomed wherever we went. my advice for future volunteers is to come with an open mind, get involved in every activity, and make the most of every opportunity. the two weeks went by very quickly, and it’s an unforgettable experience that allows you to make a positive impact while exploring such a beautiful country.
The volunteering was great for getting to see how people live and to get amazing opportunities to try and see new things
Trip of a lifetime
Incredible, eye opening experience
the culture was great and the people are amazing
words couldn’t describe how amazing this experience was
As a member of staff accompanying 44 students on a two-week volunteering programme in Sri Lanka, I cannot thank Plan My Gap Year enough—particularly Ashika. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, Ashika went above and beyond to ensure both our students and staff had the best possible experience. He organised four outstanding volunteering projects for our group and even arranged a fifth project at our request after seeing something we felt passionate about during our time in Sri Lanka. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Every aspect of the trip was organised seamlessly, from transport and accommodation to cultural experiences and volunteering placements. Everything ran incredibly smoothly, and we encountered no issues throughout our stay. Ashika regularly checked in with staff to see how both we and our students were finding the experience, asking whether there was anything that could be improved. Every decision was discussed with us first, and our input was always welcomed—although, thanks to Ashika’s meticulous planning, there was very little that ever needed changing. Ashika wasn’t just our local coordinator; he became a genuine friend, and we fully intend to stay in touch and visit him again in the future. His wider team and local contacts were equally exceptional. At no point were we without support, with members of the PMGY team always nearby should we need anything. What really stood out was the attention to detail. Not only were all the major aspects of the trip carefully planned, but even the smallest things were anticipated without us needing to ask. Whether it was arranging for a broken phone to be repaired within the hour or having a PMGY team member accompany hotel cleaners into student rooms to ensure both pupils and their belongings remained safe, every detail was considered. The list of examples could go on. The experience exceeded every expectation, and we are already planning to return with another group in the future—which probably says more than anything else I could write. If you’re considering volunteering with Plan My Gap Year, don’t hesitate. I couldn’t recommend them, or Ashika and his team, more highly.
