I was handled with great care and communication, and even given a great moving company recommendation which ended a tiresome search. Can't fault them. Thankyou especially to Imran, who was very helpful and patient indeed.

Absolutely awful con. Daylight robbery / prying on the lack of understanding and lack of clarity of instructions. I’ve been a loyal customer for years - despite prices being astronomical. I had the smaller sized unit. Price went up a lot. When I signed up, the terms were I would only have to pay for the days I was there. They changed their terms and informed me through a non-obvious email in February. Sadly I missed this due to intense life events.
I went to give notice and was told the rules had changed and if the notice crossed the invoice generation date I would have to pay a full extra month. My notice on 21/06 went 4 days over the invoice date. I vacated the unit on the 22/06. Was charged an extra month to 01/08. I vacated the unit on 22/06. I was told in store they cannot legally take money off me for a whole extra month. But then I was emailed with another invoice and late payment fee, where in writing it was made clear I was responsible for making this payment. I was scared into making this. I was then told that I shouldn’t have done so and that is an automated email. Obviously a payment just under £250 is no joke - and this is no different to fraud and preying on people scaring them into unnecessary and astronomical payments for fear of legal consequences. The staff member at Crystal Palace was nice on vacation, but the information given was conflicting with the written information received on email. Normally anything in writing supersedes verbal advice in a court of law and they are scaring people into large payments.

Misleading, Exploitative & Poorly Managed
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Safestore Crystal Palace. When I signed up for a unit, I was clearly told I only needed to give 14 days’ notice to terminate. I relied on this in good faith and gave notice accordingly. I’ve rented storage units many times before with competitors and have never had a problem.
What wasn’t disclosed—and what’s hidden in the fine print (which I never received a copy of)—is that if your notice falls even one day into a new billing period, you’re charged for the entire month, even if you vacate immediately. I vacated and returned the unit on 31 May, yet I’m being charged until 7 July, costing me hundreds of pounds.
To make it worse, they are now free to re-let my unit and earn double rent—a practice I consider unethical and exploitative.
I’m neurodivergent and flagged this at the time of signing. We arrived 40 minutes before closing and were pressured to complete everything quickly. I was never offered any reasonable adjustments, never provided a copy of the contract, and wasn’t informed that the advertised "late access" required prior manager approval, a fob, and a one-month tenure—none of which was disclosed upfront.
When I came to close the unit, I overheard the same misleading sales script being used on another customer. I challenged the agent, who arrogantly retorted, “Well, it’s all in the terms and conditions”—completely dismissing the need for clarity and accessibility, especially for neurodivergent customers. It became clear this tactic is part of a commission-driven script used routinely.
To add insult to injury, my support person even phoned ahead to ask about key details and wasn’t informed of any of this. Later, the sales rep himself admitted that hundreds of customers have raised the same complaint.
I’ve since raised a formal complaint, which was met with zero accountability or support. Safestore has shown no intention of correcting this misleading practice.
If you’re considering using this branch: don’t rely on what staff tell you verbally, and be prepared for surprise charges and zero customer care. I wouldn’t trust this company again, and I strongly advise others to avoid the same trap.

If you’re planning on storing your property here please read your contract and pay no attention to the verbal communication from the sales team as we were told that our first payment covered us for the first 8 weeks and we paid up believing that the first 8 wks were covered only to receive phone calls demanding money and claiming that they only related the first 4wks. Bottom line it’s a company that is not to be trusted. My witness and I both heard the verbal communication stating that that first payment we made covered the first 8wks, we made the mistake of taking them at their word and not look at the receipt of which we asked to be emailed
