Kind and patient agent

Marcello was incredibly patient and understanding. As someone who didn't understand domains too well, he was patient and explanatory. Fantastic chap.

A bad experience

A bad experience. I hope it doesn't happen to you as well.

My domain was set to expire on January 24th. On the morning of January 24th, I placed a renewal order on the website, made the payment, and received confirmation that it had been renewed.

On January 25th, they opened a ticket stating that I should have renewed it by January 23rd at 11:59 PM.

They have taken away my domain and put it up for auction!

My ticket number is 101CM-362328. I am providing it in case they try to claim that this review is not true.

Hi Alberto,

We sincerely apologize for the situation you are in and we will do everything to assist you in recovering your domain name.

We want to start by letting you know that these rules are put in place by the .BY domain registry and are out of our control.

We state in all of our domain renewal reminder emails "Please remember the renewal is late if not paid prior to 00:00:01 UTC on the date of expiration". We know that although we provide this information it can be overlooked, and we are very sorry for that.

Unfortunately, the .BY domain registry does not have a grace period for late renewals. Their policy is to immediately place expired domain names in a 'pending auction' status to be sent to a public auction at random. Again, we have no control over your domain name once it reaches this status and we have no involvement in the auction.

We understand your frustration and our domain specialist has provided you with directions on how you can request for your domain name to be placed in the next available auction by the .BY registry so you can bid on your domain name and hopefully successfully acquire it again.

Alternatively, should you not wish to participate in the auction, we can wait for this period to end. If, after the domain is placed for auction it is not purchased, it will be deleted and available to re-register. This usually takes roughly 60 days, though the wait time can vary. If we are not able to re-register the domain at that time, we can cancel the order and refund your account.

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding your options.

Best regards,
101domain
