Awesome job

Container was dropped off, picked up, delivered and removed when they said they would. They were all very friendly. It was the easiest part of our move. I highly recommend.

Move

We utilized 1-800-Pack-Rat for our long distance move. Customer service was great setting it up. For the initial delivery of our empty trailer we were contacted in advance by the driver letting us know when he would be by. The same drive was great picking it up. That's where everything good stopped. We had a delivery date of our full trailer for June 18th. Since no one called us in the morning on the `18th we called and they told us it would be delivered between 3:30 and 7:45pm. No one called. No one showed up. When they missed the window I called customer service again and was told they were not coming by. I was pissed and still am as this is ridiculous and unacceptable. Ethan would not give any confirmation that he would be able to get a hold of the facility or promise any delivery date or time. He certainly did not mention they the following day a Sunday they don't even deliver. I found that out calling today the 19th the facilities were closed and they could send an email and they would put me down for a Monday morning delivery. I have wasted my entire weekend over this and now have to take time off work to unload a trailer during the week that was supposed to be here for me to do this weekend. No part of this is acceptable.

I would have given a rating of 5 stars…

I would have given a rating of 5 stars except for delays in pickup and drop off ! One time we were told our pickup of our full canister would be between 8:00 pm - 12:00 midnight we know there can be truck or employee problems, but I know there won't be a pickup that late at night and in the dark. I just would say be more careful and don't say times without being sure. Just try to meet the times you give to buyers a little better. Thank you

We used Pack Rat for nearly 2 years

We used Pack Rat for nearly 2 years. I had excellent rapport with a customer service advisor, Chris who helped me regularly through our time there.
Prices increased 3x during our 2 years. What I found out when I had my PackRat POD delivered was that even though it was 28 days prior to my next payment and just 3 days after the last payment, I would get nothing prorated or refunded back. I paid $279 monthly and the final month with PackRat, including monthly, I paid out almost $700 to them. It was absurd. When questioned, I was just told "it's fees"

Even though we had good experience with them, I would not use them again due to this.

Easy move

All in all it was a good experience

All in all it was a good experience. At first I thought is was expensive but by comparison the cost was not higher than other methods. They tried to give us a fuel surcharge that was not discussed and with a phone call we were able to resolve it.

Excellent Experience

Every part of our experience wth 800-Rat-Pack was excellent. The pod was new, they arrived on time on both ends of the move and the price was less than other competitors for the Ohio to California trip.

Pack Rat made my move an easy one

Pack Rat made my move an easy one. They were on time and courteous. I packed my container and nothing moved. Once I was done they picked up my container in a timely manner. An excellent experience. I would use them again if needed.

Container Weight Policy and Process Clear as Mud

We recently rented and filled our Pack Rat Container. They couldn’t pick up the container before we left the state- so we locked it up and left instructions with our neighbor.

Today the dispatcher came to pick up the container and called to tell us the container is very overweight. When we asked him how this can be resolved we were told to call his supervisor tomorrow.

Unfortunately tge company provides no easily accessible information about weight estimations, or the process for managing an overweight container. No paperwork or any information was left with the container whatsoever. No one even signed for the container.

We had a second container delivered and picked from another state which was no problem. However, that was about 5 weeks ago and we have no idea if it has shipped yet or if it is storage. We expected an email, voicemail or text updating us- but we’ve received nothing. If we have to go searching then there’s a good chance the issue is poor consumer communication. I just sent a message of inquiry.

Another issue is the lack of transparency with the empty container weight (tear). We have no idea what the “tear” is on the container before it’s filled, nor whether the max weight allowance includes the tear or not.

It could be that all these issues are contained in fine print somewhere- but for the average, overtasked homeowner planning a move - it would make life much simpler if Pack Rat provider better upfront, easy to understand guidelines and resources.

We are now 3000 miles away and have no idea what the resolution will be. Had the dispatch been able to pick the container up timely while we were still local, this would have been much less catastrophic.

I hope our nightmare helps prevent someone else’s. Be sure to lock in your pick up date the day you rent the container if you may have to leave ahead of it which could be an issue. We didn’t realize the pick up dates were so rigid.

I will update this post after resolution is achieved.
