I used their services to move from NY to UT. I called them the day before the delivery of the container to find out what would be the time window for them to drop it off and the representative told me that I would be receiving a courtesy call from the driver one hour before it on the scheduled day. That never happened. The guy showed up at 6:30 in the morning and I had plans to put a few last things on it. But I was counting on that call that never happened. OK. Not a big deal. Then I found out I was charged extra. Like about another $400 on top of what I paid before ($5200). I asked the lady several times what would be the final cost of everything when I did the quote. She gave me the price. I asked if there would be any extra charges (bc I read reviews about it before) and she told me that it was the final price. Unfortunately, that was not true. I was charged extra for storage fees. I hate when people are not clear like that. If I hadn't asked maybe I wouldn't take it so hard. But I asked over the phone what would be the final cost bc I wanted to be sure about it. Unfortunately, they were not reliable about it and charged me extra. So yeah, be careful with the hidden fees. Besides that, the pick-up and delivery happened on the scheduled dates. I had used PODs before, and I liked their services better. The price is what made me switch to Pack Rat, but in the end, with the hidden fees, the price was not that much better. So be aware of it.

I had a great experience with them. When It came time to pick up the unit, it was impossible to arrange it. The manager, David, wouldn't even come on the phone. He spoke through his employee Shannon.
They were in sales. The sales team was fine to talk to me when I was giving them thousands of dollars. But when I need them to stop charging, you can't reach anyone.
They're a typical company whose attitude is: "We will do everything we can to get your business but nothing to keep it."
It's telling when you call sales and get a person right away. You call service and it's over an hour.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. There are too many other choices.

Today, I put my moving info on their system, but the system did not give the cost. The system said: call!! so I called. A man talked to me nicely, later, when he said "DO YOU WANT TO RESERVE NOW", I replied Not now, I need to think about it because it is too expensive when I kept talking, the man hung up the phone !! NO RESPECT, I always recommend Uhaul

I was overbilled three times. What gives This Rat Pack the right to bill my credit card any time they want to? I did not have the containers, but they still charged my card. They refused to pick up the containers when I called them because they said I had an outstanding balance. That did not make sense because I paid the first month, they Charged my card $208.00 dollars from my account with some made up reasons. I see that they charged my card $335.00, I do not have the containers. Due to the lousy service, I requested that they pick the containers up immediately. I had the containers for 1 month and 8 days. I was charged almost $1400.00. This is going way too far with this bully. This is an extremely poor service, and I cannot and will not make any recommendation for anyone to use this service. I expect my money refunded or go to small claims court. This has caused me and my family extreme anxiety.

W started communicating with Pack Rat in December 2022 to inquire about the services being offered and finally scheduled something for February 2023. The driver that came to drop off the Pod didn't know how to park and called the office to state this and attempted to cancel. I immediately called the office, very frustrated and upset. Obviously, I couldn't afford to cancel because of other timelines we had to meet, especially with moving from Virginia to North Carolina. So after speaking with the person in the office, I was reassured that the driver would be leaving the Pod. Fast forward to today, we are currently in the process of closing on our future home and paying storage monthly. I was ok with the quoted price, but to my surprise, the new payment amount was increased without any notice via email, mail, or phone. I am again getting frustrated and upset that Pack Rat, and per the Rep (Taylor), who sounded like she was eating and being argumentative while communicating with me, tried explaining; I was told the amount was going to change in my contract, and as I explained to her just like other storage companies like U-Haul; who we also use gave us a 30-day notice in advance of any price increases. This company needs to train across the entire organization and not just place bodies in these "CUSTOMER SERVICE" positions when dealing with real-life people who are paying for you to stay employed. This will be our last time using this service and have no intentions of sharing their number with anyone we know. Let this review be useful for anyone thinking of using their services.

Let me first say, I never actually went through with using the service after placing my initial order. But I'm glad I didn't. I reserved a container for a long distance move about 2-3 weeks in advance over the phone. The process was fairly easy. Once I was able to log in and view my order, I saw that the discount code I had responded about in the email wasn't honored (though the savings wouldn't have been huge overall). The guy on the phone also mentioned a certain amount of coverage and a lock was included in the price, but saw that these were basically extra add-ons he added without giving me any choices.
Now comes the poor communication part. A week before the container was scheduled for delivery, my circumstances changed and I didn't need it anymore. I hadn't been charged anything and was within the no-cost change/cancellation window. I emailed to cancel and didn't hear back at all after 2 days. I then went on the live chat and talked to a rep there, who assured me she would pass on the cancellation and I'd get an email confirmation. I figured I was all set, but never got an email confirmation. Then the day before the original scheduled date, I get a text about "tomorrow's delivery". When someone called from the local hub the next morning to give me a time window, I explained I had cancelled already and didn't need the container. He said no problem and he'd make sure it was marked as cancelled and was very nice about it. Again I thought I was done. The next day I get a text apologizing for the delay and that my container would have to be delivered a day late due to a truck breakdown. I replied to that text (a local number) saying I had already cancelled (3 times at this point). No reply there. I again emailed the main company to make sure things were cancelled. Then this morning another guy calls saying he'd be able to deliver the container in 45 minutes or so. I explained to him that I've told multiple people I've canceled and don't need anything. This new guy was also perfectly nice and understanding and said he'd mark it as cancelled.
So that's 5-6 total attempts for me to communicate the cancellation. It doesn't seem like the main office support reps did anything at all, and don't look at their emails. The local guys that called both times were very nice, but seemed almost unsurprised that I had cancelled and they hadn't been notified in any way. Nobody seems to be talking to anyone else within the company. Luckily I haven't been charged for anything at this point, though I'm keeping an eye on my credit card.
I'm pretty relieved I never actually used them since I wouldn't want to trust all my stuff to a company with this level of apparent disorganization.

I moved from Texas to Kansas. When they arrived in Kansas, they dropped the container at the wrong spot inspite of me telling the driver not to place it there. He literally did not listen and ignored me....very disappointed on where it was dropped. I should have gone with UBox from UHaul. They have small containers and people are easier to work with. With PackRat, I was promised something and delivered something else. My container number was HD61596

AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. Delivery was fine, pick up was late. Moving out of state and now a truck is broken down. They have our entire house and cannot deliver it. I scheduled 2.5 wks in advance. Saying it will be 2 more days. Beyond mad. Will never recommend or use them again

Absolutely horrible customer service. My order got put under the wrong name . Customer service told me not to worry they would fix it in the system and delivered the pod. They did not fix the mistake and when I went to have my pod picked up I had no access to my own account because the name mistake was not fixed !! No one would help me even after I spoke to 4 different people. I’d rather pay double than use this company again.

Terrible terrible experience! The bottom fell out of the container and ruined our things, they offered nothing compared to the actual cost. Paid WAY more than when we used pods and their bottom didn’t fall out. Go with PODS and save time, money and your items to be safe.

Not good. THEIR CONTAINERS ARE NOT MOISTURE PROOF IF THEY HAVE HOLES IN THEM. BEWARE. Two of their agents told me that they have insurance coverage for personal property up to $10,000 that comes without having to pay for ANY additional coverage. Over $2,000 for their smallest container, and they never sent it out on time. Because they never scheduled my delivery date to ship the container to Michigan, the container sat in their warehouse and was delayed by Hurricane Ian. The items arrived soaked with water. BECAUSE THEIR CONTAINER HAD HOLES IN IT. There was white DUCT TAPE over parts of the container when it arrived to me, and they told me that they have actually heard of duct tape being used before. They told me it was my responsibility to make sure it was in good working condition.
Today, after waiting 3 months for the them to keep their promise that "you will be compensated" I got a letter stating "ALL PROPERTY IS STORED BY YOU AT YOUR SOLE RISK. INSURANCE IS YOUR SOLE RESPONSIBILITY....
Depending on the nature of the claim and how the damages were incurred during the storm, a customer's contents could be considered for coverage if the event took place while the unit was in our possession. Due to this not being the case concerning your claim, we cannot extend coverage on this loss. Despite your claim not being eligible for coverage, 1-800-Pack-Rat Zippy Shell apologizes for your experience and would like to offer what we refer to as a Customer Satisfaction Credit payment in the amount of $350.00. A separate email containing a payment agreement form is being sent to you from DocuSign. Please complete the e-sign and payment will be issued as soon as possible."
My container WAS in their possession the entire duration of the storm at: 3661 Ironbridge Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33916. I know that because they told me they located it there after the hurricane, and because I saw it there, TWICE, with my own eyes when I brought two additional car loads of stuff before it left for the move.
To add insult to injury, when they finally were able to locate my container in their warehouse in Florida, it sat in their warehouse in Michigan for a week before I was told it had been sitting there with, no delivery date for it to be sent to me. How could I schedule a date when I had NO idea when it would finally be found and shipped out? They told me they were upset no one let me know, but that information came from the person who told me to be patient and wait while they were going to "put the pedal to the metal" and call me with an update once the issue was resolved. They assured me I could rely on them to make it right, since they made the mistake of not sending it when they were supposed to. AFTER admitting it was their mistake and telling me I did everything right on my end, I got a call from their corporate office accusing me of not paying all of my moving fees on time.
They have also refused to pay me back the $100 they charged me IN ERROR for changing a date they picked up the container from me. THAT IS STEALING!!!!
Save your copy and paste emails of apology, 1-800-PackRat, I am done! This company seems to think that if they keep you waiting long enough for answers you will give up! Never. Going. To. Happen.
1-800-Pack-Rat, never again. My order number is 2509085 since you ask everyone when responding their bad reviews.

Absolutely horrible customer service and they do a bait and switch! I signed up to have my belongings picked up in Nevada then taken to California. I noticed in my account it said that the pick was in California and to be taken to Nevada (switched). I told them and the changed the pick up address. When it came to having the drop off everything, they told me it would be an additional $1250 to switch my account to long distance because it was never long distance. After being on the phone for over an hour, I got no where. No empathy, no concern, no ownership of the issue and when I asked to speak to management was told that they were the manager and no one else could help me. Absolutely horrible and I have filed a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Pack Rat truck comes to my house without any lumber to place under the container in order to negotiate the tall curb, I have to supply 6 big blocks, which they then took when they picked up the container. Then, we had heavy rains and the container leaked damaging 2 items in the container and they refuse to pay out a $700 claim blaming me for this leaky container and mold & rust now on my expensive butcher block table and Stainless Steel gas stove. They also sent incompetent movers and a claim had to be filed for the damaged goods which the movers finally paid, as they should. I will be filing in small claims court this coming week. BAD customer service and cowards for not taking ownership for a leaky container, LETS GO PODS !!!!
What do you expect from a Rat....

They charged me for another’s month of storage even though they were in transit for the 1st of the month and they “had to charge me” for it. And now that I need the empty pod picked up they waited until 9pm to pick it up. You’d think no big deal but his lights are flashing through my neighbors house an I’m sure all the neighbors can hear the commotion he’s making. Very angry with the pick up time choice, they had ALL DAY.

I recently moved to Bellevue, WA from Rochester, NY paying the company in full once the initial delivery of my container completed after it was picked up from storage unit and dropped off at the local facility in Rochester. My partner and I were informed that the scheduled delivery date was 12/17, which was confirmed with a several customer service representatives in the following days. I also scheduled movers to come in on 12/18. Early morning of 12/17, I received a call from a manager at the local facility in Auburn, WA stating that the truck broke down on the way and needed to reschedule the delivery for the following Monday (12/19) between 7:30 am and 8 am. I was taken aback but agreeable to rescheduling. Lo and behold, I didn't hear from anyone including a driver on 12/19 until 8 am. I reached out to the manager and received a text message from him stating that I needed to reach out to the customer service as the truck didn't arrive at the local facility in Auburn? After cancelling the movers and calling the customer service & the dispatcher department (?), I found out that the container never left the facility in Rochester. I was told that the initial driver backed out on the contract and that they are still trying to find a new driver. As of today (12/27), my partner and I are still without our stuffs living day to day with minimal necessity. The level of unprofessionalism and lack of transparency & communication from the company is beyond my understanding.

Everything went exactly as promised. We had no problems. The container was clean and almost (if not actually) new. The drivers that picked up and delivered were SKILLED at doing their jobs.

The pick-up and drop-off drivers were on time, kind, and patient with our unique situation.
