Subject: Avoid 42 Birds – Rigid Policies and Poor Customer Service

I am beyond disappointed with 42 Birds. My husband gifted me the Imperial Eagle Extra Long mat for Christmas, purchased in early December. When I unrolled it to check the size, I realized it was too long for my studio’s layout. I reached out immediately on Dec 30th to request a simple exchange for a standard-length mat.
Despite being a "small business," their customer service was dismissive and incredibly rigid. They refused an exchange because the 14-day window—which started from the delivery date in early December—had passed before Christmas even arrived. They offer no flexibility for holiday gifts, effectively penalizing customers for shopping early.
To make matters worse, they used "integrity" and "sanitary" concerns as an excuse to deny the exchange because I honestly mentioned a few stray pet hairs (which I easily removed with tape). Ironically, their own website claims you can return mats even if you’ve "sweated all over them." Apparently, bodily fluids are fine, but unrolling a mat once is a dealbreaker.
I offered to pay for all shipping and even told them they could keep the price difference between the mats just to make the exchange work. They still said no. They clearly do not value building a community or keeping customers. Save your money and buy from a company like Manduka or Lululemon that actually stands behind their products and understands the spirit of holiday gifting. I ended up having to file a dispute, and I’m relieved to say my bank found in my favor and returned my money.
