Fantastic hives and great service. Wouldn’t use anything else

Made an order as a new beekeeper for all the kit for two hives and upon receiving the products they were great quality and delivered quickly.
What really elevates this review for me was there were a few minor issues on the order and the incredibly warm, friendly and immediately helpful response from Abelo to resolve these was fantastic even with me bumbling my way through everything.
A measure of a great company is how they respond to issues and the staff at Abelo really made me feel valued as a customer and removed the stress I had as a new beekeeper interacting with them.

Staff are very friendly and supportive, always feel welcome. They sell everything you need for bee keeping. Xxx

Excellent service

Purchased two, 12 frame Poly hives to start my beekeeping journey. Purchased Sunday afternoon, then realised I had forgot to add a couple of things to the order. Quickly jumped on chat and was amazed that I had a friendly person (Kerry) to help and resolve my error. Tuesday afternoon the delivery arrived by DPD. All items delivered that I had ordered including the additional items, so far so good. Opened the two boxes to find a couple of items damaged. I called Abelo and spoke to Kerry again who was very helpful, asked me to send a photo of the items damaged. I sent the photos and without any fuss received replacement items. Will certainly buy more items from Abelo in the future as the customer service and products are exceptional. Looking forward to purchasing from them again.

In April 2023, I decided to take the plunge and start helping a neighbour keeping their bees. Initially I needed a protective bee suit, some gloves and wellies so that I could pop round of a weekend to help my neighbour. I am lucky that the Abelo Ltd Beekeeping Supplies shop is just down the road. I had previously done a theory beekeeping course where I had previously heard of Abelo.

I remember my first visit to the Abelo Shop quite clearly. I will be honest in saying that I was partly unsure whether getting up close and personal with bees was the best idea for me personally and almost chickened out on the way over to the shop!

On arrival, the shop entrance exudes a warm welcoming feeling, smart looking displays and clean, Saint Ambrose was there in person inviting me to explore within!

Like a sweetshop, Abelo is packed from floor to the ceiling with premium beekeeping kit that any budding beekeeper could wish for and in my opinion, should aspire to. All manner of colours, shapes and sizes and textures of the equipment too much to take in. Time to mooch around is needed over several visits to absorb everything on offer.

Hello can I help you? I was greeted by a member of staff who proceeded to help me understand the vast range of beekeeping protective suits on offer. Really helpful and friendly customer service. I soon felt at ease and reassured. I opted to purchase the Lyson pest control double layer bee suit – the ultimate in peace of mind against prospective bee stings! It was the right choice, as at the time I hadn’t experienced a bee sting and unkown as to how stings might affect me.

Exuding confidence in my new bullet proof suit and big gauntlet style gloves I ventured forth to help my neighbour.

In the short time since April (October 2023 at time of writing), I have found beekeeping to be utterly absorbing, a healthy addiction and I am helping promote the honey bee. What better occupation of my time could there be. It has changed the way I think about everything.

I can do this! Helping my neighbour has helped me discover this new hobby and ordering my first nuc of honey bees from Abelo in May, has propelled me into this hobby – and now I am far down the rabbit hole!

The team at Abelo: Kerry Oxley; Damian, Mariola, Daniel and Trish et al., have been there for me every step of the way. They have made a massive difference to my understanding of the subject of beekeeping and it is most important to say that I would not have progressed as successfully as I have without them or if at all! A special mention for Kerry who has been utterly brilliant and patient with my endless questions!

A fantastic resource of knowledge which the whole team continue to generously offer to inform my choice of equipment and sundries, from how I might manage my bees through the season to associated activities such as candle making. I am lucky to have the Abelo so close, but for those occasions when I can’t get to the shop, they are very responsive to any phone calls or emails that I send.

The sheer choice of styles of bee hive that Abelo stock boggles my brain! After much research of my own from competitor equipment elsewhere, it was really a no brainer to opt for the fabulous Abelo 12 Frame National Poly Hive. I also opted for the fabulous Abelo 6 Frame Poly Hive when I purchased my first nuc of honey bees. I good decision as I have used that nuc to do one split already! So I now have two colonies in two Abelo 12 Frame National Poly Hives in my amazing Apiary.

I am sure the bees will make it successfully through their first Winter. The construction of the Abelo 12 Frame and 6 Frame Poly hives are of robust insulating polystyrene with impressive strong interlocking rebated components to guard against the British Weather and I feel confident sat here on my laptop that my bees will be safe and sound while Storm Babet rages on!

Great customer services, if there any issue you need to call them and explain what are the issue, so far called 2-3 times and all the time experience was great. Great work Abelo, great product and services.

Brilliant company to deal with. I bought my latest cutting-edge-design, 12 frame Abelo poly national bee hive in a great pre painted sage green and grey colour. It arrived next day along with the frames and foundation at the same time. All extremely well packed.
I have to mention Kerry Oxley in sales there who was truly magnificent in sorting out my order and she went above and beyond expectations in assisting me. So Abelo now have a customer for life. In fact I've found their prices for general bee keeping items to be cheaper than most companies. They are in York and I'm in Gloucestershire and it still works out cheaper with carriage costs added.
So I've gone for their latest 12 frame fully rebated poly National beehive. All items slotted together perfectly and all the supers, brood box, floor unit and roof etc are pre-moulded and in one piece so nothing to make up from the flat pack alternative companies out there. In fact I wouldn't hesitate to declare this hive has got to be the market leader in poly type hives which I think is the future for hives. The poly is thick with good handholds on all four sides and the pull out varroa inspection tray is well thought out and useful. Made in Poland by Lyson this is all with the latest innovation and design in poly hive construction. The hive is well designed and I can if I wish do vertical splits with this hive as the design has been well thought out and clearly Lyson have listened to what beekeepers have asked for. I'm really pleased with the items and the superb service and help I received from Abelo staff.
The hive sits beautifully in the setting here and adds to the aesthetics of our countryside garden area.
Even my bee colony came originally from Yorkshire and are calm and gentle. In fact I'm wondering if Kerry Oxley is a clone from one of them; I bet she's a queen bee in Abelo anyway.

Abelo best bee supply company ever!!

I’m writing this review after ordering several times with them and they never had disappointed me…
Unfortunately this is very rare this days and especially the bigger companies seem to not care about their costumers anymore, big mistake! There is a very competitive market out there… and Abelo seems to do the right thing.
Nothing is too much trouble for Kerry, a very friendly and professional way to deal with costumers and their problems, thanks a lot Kerry!
Their products are great quality and I can highly recommend their poly hives.
Especially their 6 frame nuc boxes are just great, because very strong and dense, interlocking system and you are able to combine boxes to build up a cell builder for grafting or for worker production colonies. The price is very reasonable when comparing with other products on the market.
I like the idea to use ashforth feeder with them instead of feeders you can’t remove without disturbing the colonies, like in other standard poly nucs. With this setup it’s very easy to remove and wash the feeders.
I can highly recommend their products and their costumer service to everyone.

Totally fantastic, great range and clear website, reasonable prices and postage costs, fast service and helpful staff. Really useful at a time when I needed bee equipment quickly, good quality products and straightforward ordering. Very, very pleased and will be using for as much of my beekeeping needs as possible in future. I am bee keeper building up to a bee farmer and recently decided to give poly hives a try after watching Black Mountain on Youtube. Not only am I very happy with the product I am extremely happy with communication and service from Abelo. I have used most of the others and there is no comparison. Will defiantly be ordering more.

The poly hives from this firm have had excellent reviews from many more expert than me but what sets them apart is outstanding product support and customer service. My hives were damaged in transit despite being well packaged but were replaced without hesitation. Excellent friendly communication throughout. Would definitely recommend and use again

Recently purchased again poly hives and several other products including a fantastic premium line honey extractor. As usual, customer service has been excellent. Abelo is by far and away my favourite beekeeping supplier.

The beehives and extraction equipment are top quality but the customer service is second to none, which gives me confidence to order products again and again.

Recently purchased a poly hive,it arrived damaged. I contacted the company who immediately without quibbling ,sent out a replacement. I am absolutely delighted with the product and will definitely purchase more of these soon. What a delight to deal with such a helpful and supportive company. The staff are absolutely fantastic…and we only find out how important that is when things go wrong.

I have several Abelo Bee Hives, they are the older model, I find them great for swarm collection as I can easily carry them with one hand when strapped together.
Looking forward to trying the lastest model as this has a better system of locking the pieces in place.
