Great Sunday Dinner Bed & Breakfast deal

We spent a very enjoyable night at the Canterbury Abode Hotel. The parking was very convenient, the central reservation system worked well, the staff were all very friendly and helpful and we had an excellent tapas meal in the Brasserie. We booked at the last minute as our original Booking.com accomodation was appaling so we decided not to stay there

Don't Trust What They Tell You

We booked rooms in Canterbury for 1st of August pre Covid and we were reassured to receive an email from them shortly after lockdown began stating "If you do fall ill or are worried and need to cancel at the last minute, then we will move your booking to another date, to be as flexible as possible during this period. And so that you can book with confidence, we are offering to move all rates including advance purchase pre-paid rates within a 12 month window with a 48-hour warning – so no need to worry."

What this should have said was "So no need to worry but if you do need to change your plans we'll charge you almost double your initial price". That doesn't sound like "we are offering to move all rates".

Unfortunately the event we were due to attend couldn't go ahead because of restrictions on how many households can meet up.

The hotel were completely unhelpful or willing to be flexible about the increase in price when an admin fee at most would have been sufficient.

During these uncertain times where plans can change at the last minute don't be duped by the dishonesty and inflexibility of Abode and book somewhere trustworthy.

We are advising the rest of our party to book elsewhere on the rearranged dates so Abode have cost themselves many bookings with this policy of deceit and hopefully reviews of this nature will cost them even more until they be fairer with their paying customers.
