They are basically licensed scammers with hidden (insurance $30/day) fees and won't provide you with the car you booked! I had a booking for a Kona, called and confirmed the make and model was there. Only to find out they do not even rent them. They won't compensate; instead, they were rude and unprofessional about it. Very poor customer service. First and last time!

It’s a scam. This company uses deceptive business practices to make you pay more. They advertise a low daily rate, but don’t disclose extra fees. I was bullied by Simon into buying their insurance policy which amounted to more than $50 PER day. The reason ACE gave is that local residents are required to show proof of insurance. That was NEVER indicated at booking or in the multiple reminder texts I received from them. I was not able to show proof that they deemed adequate, even though I was covered both by my credit card and by my personal auto insurance. I have rented many cars locally and in other states and never encountered this before. It’s completely intentional to recoup costs from the low daily rates they advertise.
I called ACE before leaving on my trip and they advised me that I would have to go to handle it at the rental office. I did that and told the clerk that I felt tricked into buying the insurance and the right thing to do would be to give a refund, and the first thing he said was “oh that guy never sells” meaning that the guy who rented it to me in the first place never sells the insurance.
Deceptive and coercive business—avoid at all costs. The low price is not worth the headache and extra cost. The Spirit airlines of rental cars. More like ACE Rent à la CARte.
Edit in response to ACE’s response to me: “it’s in the fine print” is not the same as not being deceptive or bullying and it’s not the ground that respectable businesses want to tread.

This Ace claims they are a rental car facility that exists at the ORD Airport Rental center. They are in fact not at the Airport Rental Center but a few miles down the road from it.
After bringing back the rental, the manager tried to claim that I had a scratch in the car that was not there when picked up. When I asked him to show me, I could see he was pointing at some dust/dirt on the bumper. I then proceeded to wipe it away to show him it was exactly that.
At that point he asked me for my paper copy of the exit forms I signed when taking the car. I told him that I did not sign any because I was not presented any. I believe he was trying to hold me accountable in some way by proving that I signed the forms agreeing to certain conditions. Since the employees are so inept at doing their jobs, even if the vehicle was damaged, he could not hold me accountable.
When I called back another day to straighten these issues out, I found out that he has barred me from renting from that ACE ever again. Never told me in person, never sent a letter, never received a phone call. I guess this was his childish way of trying to get at me despite lying about damage. I also have pictures of before and after as proof.
In the end, it is just as well because this place is shady from the word go. Even for people looking for a good deal, I promise, it is not worth it.

I recently rented a car through Ace Car Rental, and I want to take a moment to highlight the exceptional service I received from Angel, the rental agent.
After a frustrating experience with a competitor car rental company, Angel's professionalism, understanding, and helpfulness truly made all the difference. He took the time to listen to my concerns, answered all my questions, and went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. His friendly and patient approach was a breath of fresh air, and it restored my faith in customer service.
Thanks to Angel, my experience with Ace was smooth and stress-free, and I will certainly be returning for future rentals. Highly recommend!

On December 23, 2023, I arranged for an SUV rental through Expedia from ACE Rental Car Company. Upon arrival at the rental facility with my canine companion, I was greeted by an employee who provided an overview of the rental terms and conducted a damage inspection of the vehicle. At no point during this process was I informed of any restrictions regarding the transportation of pets, nor was this information apparent on the Expedia website.
Regrettably, upon returning the vehicle on December 28, 2023, the inspection agent notified me of a $250 cleaning fee, in addition to a $50 tax, attributed to pet hair found in the back seat. Furthermore, I was informed for the first time that pets were prohibited in the rental cars. I expressed to the agent that this policy had not been communicated to me at the outset, and that I was unaware of any potential fees for vehicle cleanliness or odor related to animals.
Subsequently, I reached out to ACE Rental Car Company's customer service for clarification and was advised to lodge a formal grievance with their corporate office. I followed through with this advice on December 30, 2023, and was assured a response within two business days. Despite multiple follow-up calls, my issue remains unresolved, and I have been directed repeatedly to the Chicago branch without being provided the necessary contact details for the manager.
The lack of resolution has been deeply disappointing, and to compound the issue, my requests for a detailed invoice outlining all charges associated with the rental have been met with incomplete responses, showing only the aggregate amount due without itemization.
I am seeking a prompt and equitable resolution to this matter, as well as a transparent breakdown of all fees incurred during my rental period.
