Acorn domains used to be a fantastic website for chatting about UK domain names. In the last 6 to 12 months it's gradually gone downhill. Seems like 90% of the members have now migrated to another forum.

Acorn Domains is the premier domain name forum in the World for .co.uk domains. It also has categories for other ccTLDs and of course gTLDs. It's by far the longest established and the moderation is "light handed" but firm when required. It's run very sensibly.

It's received criticism from some quarters in the past that it's too commercialised and keen on selling premium memberships.

Its critics surprisingly tend to remain anonymous but I'm sure that they're obviously altruistic socialists who selflessly run their not-for-profits, registered charities and community interest companies for no remuneration or recompense whatsoever.

How dare the owner of what is a thriving community that has enabled countless relationships, friendships, deals and sales, have the utter temerity to actually want to make a decent ROI on the considerable investment that he outlaid in purchasing the forum from its founder, Alan! Not to mention the enormous investment of time, energy and money in improving AD v1.0 beyond recognition.

I've been a member on Acorn since 2008, the members are a great bunch, if there's something you don't know relating to domains, whether it's SEO, building sites, WP problems, problems with DNS, whatever, there's always members who know their stuff and help out if you're not very tech inclined.

Not to mention the members who hold some of the most sought after UK domain names, all in one place.

Acorn is now under new management and I’m sure can become an even more valuable resource with an Influx of fresh ideas and investment.

I’d have no hesitation in recommending the site to casual and serious domain investors.
