about The Actors Gym
Hello,
My name is Said and l am from Azerbaijan. I have been a member in The Actors Gym since the end of last year. Well, my story is really weird. When this global pandemic hit all of us last year in March l remember l wasn't even able to communicate with other people in English. But little did I know that the course of my life was about to change completely! I started improving my English and watching movies and documentaries originally filmed in English. I learned a lot( still learning) and l suppose l loved the language to the point that it inspired me to try to be an actor. In a nutshell, through learning a language l found a new passion. I searched a lot with my passion boiling inside and found out about The Actors Gym on Instagram as far as l can remember. I told myself l have got nothing to lose but new things to learn and new people from around the world to meet even though l was really insecure at the time. Sounds exiting doesn't it? I joined the community at the end of 2020. Since then l have been enjoying being part of this amazing family, learning about the industry, gaining confidence. It is not just about learning, it also offers jobs as well as being a safe and motivational place to thrive not just as an actor but as a human being too. Everybody is so polite and generous when it comes to helping others. I have met a new friend and guess what, we have started practicing Meisner together at weekends. The other thing is it's really affordable since drama schools are not that cheap comparing our currency to the US one. That's why it's well worth being part of it to continue to evolve as an actor.
Well worth the investment.
I joined the actors Gym back in January and have loved being part of the community. There is access to great resources in the form of webinars that, even if you aren't able to get to physically, can be accessed afterwards. The twice monthly self-tape challenges are great opportunities for self development, to try something new and get industry led feedback that I have found so helpful. Lots of opportunities to get stuck in and develop your skills further and I would highly recommend.
Highly Recommend
Recommend anyone who wants to get into acting to join the actors gym! Been on this course for about 4 weeks now and i have learnt so much already from how to self-tape to how to prepare for an audition etc!! The live classes are amazing as well!!
Very supportive community
Very supportive community, Everything from Workshops to self tape challenges are available there. It’s an absolute must for aspiring actors to practice their craft at home.
A helpful and useful resource to consider for Actor training
The Actors Gym seems like a great resource and initiative, and I was grateful for the 7 day free self-taping challenge that arrived in my inbox for the New Year. It was motivating, detailed, insightful and thorough.
I think it's confusing orienting oneself on the website - the look of The Reel Scene and The Actors Gym are similar, and my initial impression was one of confusion as to what I was looking at, as of course they are linked.
Having said that, once I figured out where I was, The AG website is informative, and their links to the industry solid, with great opportunities for learning from working professionals.
They seem to have a range of content to suit you whether you are a beginner, starting out on your training, or have already trained and are looking to build on your skills. I do wonder if it's a little pricey though for online training.
It's also very useful to have this online resource during such a time as Covid and of course for International students to access great training.
