Builder Broke Up with Us!

Absolutely terrible experience. My wife and I travelled to Pace FL from TN to meet with Debra Holifield at the Parkland Place model home. We were excited about the whole experience (picked a lot, chose our colors, etc.) and spent days calling lenders to get pre approval letters while drafting up a diagrams for extra lights/outlets/concrete etc. The day after sending them what I thought was our final step before signing a contract, I received a call from Debra informing me they were returning my $1000 earnest deposit check and stated “we aren’t the builder for you.” Can you believe it! (I couldn’t). Please, take my money for the options I’d like! And if it’s not too much trouble, try to put them where I’d like! No, sir, they’re more concerned with throwing these houses up as quickly as possible, the way THEY want (your preferences apparently don’t concern them too much).

Spending just a little time working with a buyer on where they want lights and outlets to go would have made them almost $30k in profit over base price. How can they be in business when they turn people away for wanting too much of what they offer? Who’s running this clown show!? I’ve never felt so insulted in my life. I’m very disappointed considering the time, effort, and money spent trying to make it work. They could’ve just said “sorry sir, we can’t do that - would you still like to sign a contract anyway?” But instead, they gave me no choice in the matter and simply said “bye”, like Curly Bill to Wyatt Earp in the movie Tombstone. I have never been treated like this from any business and am glad it happened earlier than later - good riddance!! Those pesky homeowners wanting things the way they want -so annoying!
