Late Employee is Jerk to customers
For the first time I was late in repayment, my estranged husband pulled money from our joint account and caused my repay to bounce. He told me he took care of it which I found out was untrue on Saturday when the draft declined again. So Sunday morning I left and drove overnight straight from NJ to get the cash there as soon as the store opened on Monday. I arrived at 9:15 but saw it didn’t open until 10:00AM, so I waited. I watch 5 or 6 potential customers come and go. At 10:45AM, I called the toll free number when the store was still not opened. (Side note the lady on the phone was awesome and helpful)
Finally at 11:20AM the employee showed up, blew past us and over his shoulder snapped “Im gonna be few minutes, stay out here, and locked door in our face with a condescending look. When he let us in he could not have been more nasty to me and another customer that had also been waiting. He barked orders at me, slammed the cash drawer and when I asked him why he was acting so hostile towards me he said ”I’m not hostile, corporate knows exactly where I was so you had no right to call them on me, I started to say “I’m sorry I was worried” but he cut me off looked around me and said to other customer he could help him now because I’m done.
I have used Advance America many times over the years and have always faithfully paid on time, even once during a hurricane, it was hard on me to be late and I did everything I could to pay, but even late I don’t believe I should be treated like a dead beat trying to skip out on a debt.
I understand your core customers are people without stellar financial histories (in fairness it seems that group has supported a profitable business model to Advance America) so that does not mean we deserve poor customer service and public humiliation from store level staff.
