My first foray into quality, goodyear welted footwear - after a significant amount of research, I purchased two pairs of Berwick boots and various accessories across a couple of orders.

I was quite nervous buying shoes without being able to see them first, from a manufacturer I had not tried before, but - even during a very busy sales period - helpful, friendly and to my mind earnest advice (i.e. not simply guiding me to the most expensive option, but what was best for what I was after) was given that guided me right; I spoke to two people on the phone seeking pre- and post-sales advice, including I believe the Director of the firm?

Their brand and last-specific sizing charts also set them apart from many other retailers that only offer generic sizing charts.

For the benefit of others, one minor thing I would note is the condition of both shoeboxes. Both shipments were packaged very well, including a shipment with a bunch of glass jars and other bits and pieces, clearly arranged with care inside the delivery box. However, in both cases the shoeboxes were quite scuffed and dinged - without damage to the outside packaging box. I kept both pairs and the boxes are still structurally sound so serve their purpose, but if I needed to make a return I hope they'd factor that in (since the customer is of course reasonably expected to return them in saleable condition).

I will be shopping again!

They try to sell you an insurance for damage or non-delivery at checkout, called "Swap Protect". This is already covered by your statutory rights in consumer law. You don't need it. Very tacky and illegal. When I contacted them about it their reply ignored the issue.

I purchased a pair of Berwick Brogues (5215) from” A fine pair of shoes”.
They arrived next day and the service I received was excellent.
In addition, these shoes were exceptional in terms of both quality and value for money hence, I have taken the trouble to write this review. I would normally expect shoes of this quality to be double the price especially as they have welted leather soles. The sizing is accurate as per the size chart and colour is close to the photos. Hope this helps anyone reading my review.
