Ahooga modular-low step
I recently received my ahooga modular bike.
I ordered this bike after researching online for quite a while. I wanted a bike to use in my daily commutes in Lisbon (a city with many uphill streets), to get my kid to and from school. Plus, it had to be lightweight enough and flexible enough to store in our apartment.
Oh, and did I mention affordable? yes, it had to be reasonably priced!
I ordered it in July and received it in October. I knew beforehand that this would take a while, with an extra 4 weeks from the expected September deadline.
And although this may sound like a reason for less than 5 stars, I was answered to, given explanations always in a personal and friendly way, and that made a big difference!
Enough about service, about the bike now:
It came with more bells and whistles than I had expected: the bike is very comfortable, the seat is extra-nice, so are the handles, and the riding position is very balanced. I ordered the low-step to be able to keep better balance with my 8-year old riding with me even when off the bike and dismounting; gears are easy to use and the pedal-assist dial is the right size- small, simple, intuitive.
Since my son rides with me I ordered the kid seat that was very easy to install in the pre-mounted racks and they sent the bike with footpegs all ready to use!
Plus, and this is one of the reasons I choose this bike, the handlebar swivel allows me to store this bike in a small space, with my other 2 bikes easily, and access any of the bikes without having to shuffle the others. It is a great feature!
The design and attention to detail in this bike are really outstanding!
Rinding it:
Riding this bike by myself is a breeze, I hardly use the pedal assist (although it is great when the wind picks up to have that extra help!!) because the bike is not very heavy (17Kg) + extra aluminum racks.
When I ride with my 23 kg kid, I use the pedal assist most of the way on 2 (out of 5) and on 5 on the occasional steep hills (9%).
In these steep hills, I need my full effort even on 5, but I would not be able to go up this hill with my kid were it not for the e-bike!!
Disk brakes: super nice and a must for riding safely with my son; also, came with a great set of led lights that are easy to charge and place/remove with magnetic holders, and a cushion for the rear rack for occasional riders.
I am very happy with it, my commutes are now car-free, hassle-free, fun filled and this bike is a big part of that!!
In case you missed, it in this long text, I highly recommend the modular, low-step, pedal-assist Ahooga Bike!
Great service by a friendly staff.
I love this bike. It had an issue that was quickly fixed. Great customer service by a friendly staff.

Definitely not worth the price
Definitely not worth the price. I have the bike since June and it has had to be fixed 3 times already. The battery is also not living up to the promises. You’ll have to charge it everyday if you want to be sure it won’t let you down. The folding system is only good if you don’t need regularly. It may be a good bike for leisure city tour but would definitely not recommend for everyday bikers or train users

I really love my bike
I really love my bike, and even though I waited almost 2 months to get it (due to production, and the current situation we all went through) I feel very listened by the staff, and well advised. Full recommended if you want a long lasting electric bike for your everyday life
I don't like reporting back like this…
I don't like reporting back like this but hoping I might get a response from Ahooga. Maybe covid has got in the way but they should say so on their website.
I'm in the UK I like the look of the bike, still do, but although the website looks professional it isn't that informative. There is a lot about the folding and how light it is but not a lot else..battery, the seat, comfort? Also what are the differences say between a comfort + bike folding bike and an essential one. Anyway emailed twice and no response after 5 days - they said within 48 hours. Then I set up a telephone call and they didn't ring. Emailed again and nothing! AHOOGA - come on improve things as I am sure you have a good product to sell Ian

Perfect bikes, very handy and well-designed and a nice service!
Bought a folding bike with them
Bought a folding bike with them. Good service and excellent product . E powered but very lightweight and great riding pleasure even without assistance
Very long waiting times, otherwise good bike
Very long waiting times and poor communication after ordering. We ordered and payed for our bike on the 24th of september 2020 and as of 20th of january 2021 after 4 months still no bike. Much longer than the 6 to 8 weeks that were promised when ordering the bike. Ahooga also claims to have transferred the bike to GLS delivery service, but they don't have a tracking number.
*Edit*
On 21st of January, we finally recieved the bike. So far, we're quite happy with the bike! The battery needs to be "worked in" a bit and starts to lose power when it's at 50% or below, but our bike retailer mentioned that this could happen the first few reloads. Otherwise it's a very clean and robust bike that rides very smooth.
So in other words if you don't mind waiting a bit for the bike, it's worth the wait.
Great bike, beware of battery features.
I purchased the 36 v folding bike from Ahooga about one month ago since then it has been in repair twice and kept showing issues with the motor and the battery. It appears that with a Low battery the bike will cut itself in case of a too strong demand on the battery to protect it. Now that I know that, I must say that with a full charge the bike works very well and is very pleasant to ride.

Poor and untrustworthy customer service - huge delays in delivery
We ordered our Ahooga modular bike back in May and we still have not received it !!! in September. We have been to the store numerous times to receive information and the excuse is always the same - Covid 19. Clearly this is impacting the supply chain, no doubt, but they are very poor in managing expectations and overall customer service. The first answer we got was that the bike would be delivered july 25 when we enquired in July and last time I asked they said by the end of that week, which also did not materialise.
There has also been no proper communication on the status of the delivery and absolutely no word of a commercial rebate due to the huge delay ( they have all the cash flow from the orders full prepayment upfront ...).
I am sure the bike is good and I also wanted to support a local Belgian start up by ordering it and I was ready to accept medium service as a result. However they have gone far beyond what any consumer should accept and with this kind of service I would surely not recommend them. They are not be trusted - surely kind appearance but more than 3 months delay from the initial delivery date is unacceptable.

Nice team bad service
Nice team bad service.
Also the bikes looks great, the team is nice and the context was a bit complicate with the coronavirus situation. We experience weeks of delay in delivery which was not a good experience at all.
Some of our bikes arrived 2 months later, other more than 3 months after purchase.
We were not always contacted. We received mostly excuses other than solutions. It appears production was stopped for a while but then a lot of problems appeared in terms of production follow-up.
I wish this will serve Ahooga management as lesson for improving their value chain and general customer experience.
If I had to order a bike again. I would most probably chose another brand.
Even though Ahooga bikes are great !
Super service.
Great service, great bike
I bought my Ahooga last week, the service was great, and so it is the bike!
