No Notification of Additional Charges

I have to repeat what many others have already said about Ahrefs.

As a small business their prices are already pretty expensive. I initially signed up to the basic plan but then upgraded because I wanted the additional features.

Having decided to cancel my subscription when they changed their pricing plan I learnt I had incurred a further £79 for running three reports.

There was no notification that I was about to incur an additional charge. Had I received one I wouldn't have made the same mistake on two further occasions.

That's no way to do business. A customer deserves to be clearly advised when they're about to incur an additional charge.

Expensive hidden charges that just get taken from your bank

I'm a small startup business with limited funds but needed to do some keyword research so I signed up to Ahrefs. It is not cheap at £74 per month just for the basic package but I thought I would try it. After a few days, they tried to take a further £75 for PAYG extra charges and reports. The website does not make it clear anywhere when you are running these reports that they are a chargeable extra. No warning when you run the report, no pop-ups or info next to the report option, just money taken straight from your bank account. I've cancelled my subscription and have moved over to Surferseo. A lot cheaper and seems much more transparent.

Watch out for expensive extra charges

Watch out for expensive extra charges. The subscription isn't the only price you will be paying. If you're just a semi-serious Ahrefs user, chances are the subscription costs will be 20-40% higher, as you will easily exceed their new "reports limitation". Basically every action inside Ahrefs will consume a credit, and without notifying you they will just add on extra costs to your invoice.

You're in for a very nasty surprise if you dont keep an eye on this.

Very greedy move ngl.

It is not true that every action inside Ahrefs will consume a credit. Reasons are below:
- With old plans each tool had its own set of limits such as “Domains per week” in Site Explorer or “Reports per week” in Keywords Explorer.
- However, new plans have a single limit called “Reports” that is consumed when using Dashboard, Site Explorer, Content Explorer, Keywords Explorer, and standalone tools like Batch Analysis, Domain Comparison etc. Site Audit and Rank Tracker have their own limits and do not consume reports.

Watch out for pay as you go charges when/if you cancel!

Just cancelled my monthly subscription. Paid $99 for a month subscription. The software is buggy and the reps openly admit this.

I was reviewing keyword comparisons and the page would freeze. I contacted support and they openly admitted this the buggy part of their database. I wasted hours trying to figure this out only to find out they are fully aware of these issue but charge customers $99 to discover this new problem as they do research.

I cancelled after they charge me $70 for data overage. No notification was sent regarding this until I was invoiced again after cancelling.

Find a cheaper option instead of this nickel and bait scam.

Are you referring to a known issue with reporting keywords for very big websites like Microsoft, Quora etc?

Ahrefs Review - Poor Experience

Last night, I signed up for a new account on Ahrefs.

Since this morning, I've been trying to get used to the platform looking for new keywords, but unfortunately, I have been experimenting several errors during the day.

I contacted support, and they told me, big websites such as Microsoft, etc, are too big to show the results, that I needed to try with smaller ones.

I kept trying with smaller sites, but I found out that for every 10 sites I searched for, I was getting the same error. Technically, I was unable to gather the info I was looking for.

So, I decided to contact them to cancel my account and ask for a full refund.

But sadly, I was told they don't offer refunds if a customer have already used their platform. The funny part here is that I used it, but I was unable to do anything due to that error.

My recommendation is, please don't use this company. I felt terrible about the way they talked to me in their live chat. I don't think they aren't really concerned about their customers, and they don't care if their platform works or not.

Now that I am reading the bad reviews, I just realized it was a mistake to get that service.

Find a better option and keep away from them.

Yes indeed, we do have an issue that organic keywords report may not work for very big websites.
The team is aware of the issue and working at finding the solution, but unfortunately it can't be done as quickly as we'd like to.

Regarding the refund part, we had to refuse, because indeed the the service was used, and not only with those tools and reports that might have failed due to the above error.

We never meant at making you feel bad talking to us in a live chat and would like to apologize if it somehow looked or sounded that way.

Great tool, terrible customer service.

Great tool, terrible Customer Service & Billing. I've used Ahrefs at many previous positions. This new account had to be made through a reseller(provided by Ahrefs) due to my company needing to pay via invoice. It took over a month to get the account made.

Today our account is activated and I see a new feature for Advanced plans advertised in a banner. As an advanced plan I was excited to try it. Turns out if you made your account over 2 weeks ago you are locked out of new features under the same plan at the same price.

The lady from the live chat insisted the only way to fix it was to cancel our account and start a new one. This is insane. New features being locked out from existing subscribers at the same level? At previous positions I was able to use the beta version of new features. Now I can't even get what I paid for?

Customer service was of absolutely no help. Just the same circles over and over. And when I tried to reach out to the support email it just took me to the same exact person who refused to help us.

Like I said, I've used and loved Ahrefs for years at prior positions. This will be the final position that I recommend them at, and since I doubt they will fix any of this I'm certain we will be canceling this account and moving to a new tool.

This new feature was advertised for new plans only and when you worked at setting up your Advanced plan, it was not even available.
Payments by invoice (wire transfer) can indeed sometimes take longer than expected - unfortunately, we cannot speed up this process.

We do understand you from the customer's perspective though and offered you a solution, but never heard back from you to make things settled.

All in all, we are very sorry for this experience and hope no bitter taste is left afterwards.

The worst customer service ever

The worst customer service ever. I have been using ahrefs since 2017, I then got some payment issues from my credit card attached to the account, and didn´t see the notifications in time (been sick, and not online for while), which ending up in cancellation of my old plan. I contact their chat support, ask if they please can re-submit my plan / payment, as the bank/credit issue was fixed. They told me that I know would have to signup for a new plan, and that it wasn´t possible to use my old plan, which was a bit better than their lite plan anno 2022. Anyways, never ahrefs again, never seen so arrogant customer service before in my life, is that how you treat loyal customers, that supported you guys from the beginning / for 5 years?

A good tool

A good tool, but it costs too much. I use it only on a weekly subscription and no more. in general, I like everything, but the price could be lower. If you lowered the price, your audience would instantly increase

I have never used a software as a…

I have never used a software as a service platform with so many errors and down time. I have the feeling that the customer is the problem, when Im chatting with the customer "service". And you have to start explaining the same case or issue over and over again.

I don't know if someone else would say this, but trust me Ahrefs has become my hobby. I love this website. All that information is so exhilarating. Spiking ranks and all that stats, I never knew business and statistics could be this fun before I joined this site. And SEO was really boring to me and thanks to Ahrefs, that's how I make a living now.
