Sold Me Incompatible Equipment — No Resolution
Rating: 1/5
I engaged AHT Global to design and install a high-end home AV system in my Manhattan apartment. I would not recommend them, and I would caution anyone considering them for a significant home technology investment to look elsewhere.
There were multiple failures across the engagement:
RESPONSIVENESS: The design phase took months, and throughout the process emails frequently went unanswered for one to two weeks. Unacceptable for a self-described premium service provider.
INSTALLATION QUALITY: AHT's team damaged a wall in my apartment during installation and failed to repair it adequately, requiring me to hire an independent painter at my own expense. The technician assigned to install my turntable disclosed on-site that he had never installed one and consulted an online tutorial during the visit.
EQUIPMENT COMPATIBILITY: Most seriously, AHT produced three written proposals specifying a Lyngdorf TDAI-2210 amplifier alongside a Savant universal remote system. This was a clear representation of compatibility. The products are not compatible. AHT acknowledged this in writing when I raised the issue. Their proposed workarounds were subsequently rejected by Savant as unreliable and potentially damaging to the equipment. AHT then suggested the issue was my integrator's competence — an authorized Savant dealer who came directly recommended by Savant.
Despite acknowledging the incompatibility in writing, AHT has declined to replace the amplifier and has offered no workable resolution. I've been left with no choice but to escalate this matter to the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection and the New York State Attorney General's Consumer Frauds Bureau.
Buyer beware.
