Bullshit rental policy

Had a reservation for a car through airport rental cars.com with thrifty rental. I’m canceling my trip 14 days before I’m to arrive. My total cost for 3 day rental is $119.00, they charged me $86.00 to cancel. This is absurd. I get having a window to cancel. But 14 days before. It’s a rip off, do not use this link. Disgusting. I have pictures of date time and charge.

Please do not rent a car from this…

Please do not rent a car from this website. Vacationing in Texas. I rented a car for 4 days Oct 12- Oct 15. The car rental company assigned was Mex rent a car in Houston Texas, I had one of the most awful experiences ever renting a car and I rent cars all the time. By far this was the worst. We had to take an uber from the George Bush Int’l airport to the rental location, this was my fault, booked the rental at George Bush Int’L instead of William p hobby airport where we would have been picked up and taken to Me x rent a car. Once we arrived there, the location was small and going thru some type of construction, barely any cars and only one person working the counter, the wait was long, finally I believe who I thought was the manager came from the back told me to go in the private booth, its a virtual person on a screen , this was the worst, took almost an hour to complete, he said the system was slow, after verifying all my info the virtual guy Said my rental deposit would be $1500, I said say what!!!!!!. I asked him why, he told me due to high demand etc. I knew he was making up something to say. I told him I did not have enough money on my credit card for that high of a deposit. He said he could lower my deposit to $500 if I paid $75 and the $75 would not be returned. I had no other choice but to take it. Scam Scam Scam Scam Scam Scam . Buyer beware…….

No customer support and fraudulent offers of insurance.

Following reservation confirmation of a rental car it was noted that the additional full protection insurance package for 13 usd per day was not accepted. Since this was a main reason for renting from them I wanted to understand why it was not added or to cancel the reservation. When replying to their email there was no known email address. There was no customer support to contact them by either email or telephone. The only option was to call the car rental company directly who wanted to charge a cancellation fee or add the full protection insurance for an exorbitant amount of money. I see from many other reviews I’m not the only one who has had issues. Since this is a third party rental site their website should not be allowed and taken down if there is no way to contact them.

Avoid this website at all cost!

They're squeezing customer pocket out. A lot of hidden fees and dishonesty. I would suggest to rent physically on the spot. base on my experience, Turo has been the right choice.

Buyer beware!!!

Buyer beware- your “reservation” means nothing and won’t be honored. I reserved an Enterprise car. When we showed up, they were sold out and didn’t have a car for us. They had the reservation, but they didn’t honor is. We ended up renting from Hertz and paid twice the price. That’s the last time I use this terrible website for booking a rental car. And Priceline for that matter.

Bad Experience

Reserved two 7-person passenger vans and was assigned Dollar Car Rental at the San Antonio. When the cars were picked up (not by me), Dollar had no record of the prepaid collision damage insurance and wanted to charge $200+ more per car than was listed in our price quote from Airport Rental Cars.

I immediately got on the phone with Airport Rental Cars customer service, and they "think" the extra cost is a deposit required by Dollar. They don't actually know. Would have been great to at least be warned of any additional costs beforehand since our organization is a small nonprofit on a tight budget.

To be fair, Airport Rental Cars customer service was pretty decent and I was connected with an agent quickly. I asked for a refund on the collision damage insurance on each car since the people in our group that picked up the cars were told at the Dollar counter that nothing had been paid for and they would need to pay for insurance again (the cost was more than double that we originally paid). The customer service agent first said that we could only get an insurance refund from Airport Car Rentals on one car, and after I asked again they "double-checked" and discovered that both could be refunded. Okay.

At the end of the day, this was a big, unnecessary hassle and it demonstrates this company's inability to actually connect with the rental car companies. Fortunately, I was able to get the case numbers for the complaints I made, and I will be calling back if we don't get our deposits returned because costing innocent people extra money for the company's ineptitude is not acceptable.

Unsubscribe from emails IMPOSSIBLE

Tried multiple times to get my email address removed from the mailing list. Terrible service and the contact us section on website doesn’t work. Happy to remove this review from trustpilot if someone from the company can contact me by replying to the review.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS SITE!!! I've rented under this site, never got my car because my ID was "invalid" and I had to contact them to get a refund. I'm still trying to get a refund and they won't answer to me. They will ask for my info and never reply back to me. Worst site ever!! Do not rent from this site! I wish I would have read the reviews first!

We will never use this company again

We will never use this company again. Rented a Thrifty car through this company and had to cancel two months before we were to use the rental car. Could never get a contact with this company either by phone or email. Thrifty was able to cancel the car but not give a refund. That had to come from airportrentalcars.com. The elusive company that doesn't return emails or phone calls. NEVER AGAIN!!! Unfortunately for Thrifty cars, this has left such a bad taste we won't use them either. Folks my advice....there are lots of rental car options out there. Airportrentalcars.com should not be one you use.

This is a HORRIBLE company (subsidiary of Priceline)! Do NOT deal with them EVER. I tried booking a car with them, and their website kept giving me errors stating that there was a problem with reservation and it could not be made. I tried again with the same company, same day rental and same exact vehicle, again---same Error. It said reservation could not be made. I did not get any emails about any reservation numbers or bookings being made. I only got errors of no reservation being possible. I assumed no bookings went through.
The next day:
I found out from the rental company (Dollar) that they had two cars booked for me for the same day at the same time. Luckily They called to confirm. I checked my statements and it said this Airportrentalcars had charged me TWICE for a total of around $900!!!
I called them and they refuse to give me a refund for both of them saying no cancellation allowed. They finally gave me refund for one and even that if for less amount than what is on my card statement. They refuse to give me refund for the other booking for the exact same thing!! This website has HORRIBLE customer service. I have put a dispute on these charges. It is NOT my problem that their website gave me errors when booking.
When I called them they said "sir you could have called us to check if the reservation went through"..What???
I will NEVER deal with Priceline Again!! This is a subsidiary of Priceline. Screw Them!

We rented a van for 7 people for our trip to Cozumel and were assigned Alamo as our rental car company from airportrentalcars.com.
When we showed up at the Alamo rental location at the Cozume Airport they stated that airportrentalcars.com had overbooked them and they did NOT have a car for us. We ended up going to Budget next door and paying twice what our reservation was for with Alamo.
DON’T DO BUSINESS the them THEY ARE A JOKE and Alamo would NOT STAND BEHIND the reservation.

TERRIBLE REPS AND SUPERVISOR!!! we had to cancel our trip due to Covid-19 and they will not refund our money.. even during the pandemic! Ridiculous and the fact that they use an off shore custoner service team is ridiculous....DO NOT USE THEM!

This site is an absolute joke! You’ll be guided to boom through sites that won’t even have cars or be open! It’s a joke! Then their customer service support is a bigger joke. Maybe a robot. Never rent or use this site just pay the extra money

Do not trust this rental site

Do not trust this rental site. Had great service until now. Rental car booked for 11pm pickup at Pearson International... Payless rentals closed at 11pm. Listed as on site airport rental but we had to take a train and then take a shuttle bus to the rental outlet to get your car(not stated on airport rentals site)-(shuttle stops at 11pm when Payless closes) Since Pay less was not open we had to rent a car from another place at the airport for a day. We drove back to pick up our rental at Pay less and were told they gave ours to someone else. They did not honor our original Airport rentals agreement and we were charged 200$ more for different car and shorter rental period. Sent them a detailed email and just got back a form letter saying they could cancel my rental for me... they didn't even read my email.

Insurance Fraud- don't buy!

Don't buy the insurance from airportrentalcars. It will not be accepted at the time of car pickup. I called the insurance company that I prepaid the coverage with to advise it's not being accepted, and they claimed they would call them and get it refunded once I return the car, or else they will refund me directly. BUT that is not what happened. Airportrentalcars insurance claims they researched my reservation and their insurance was honored, and I wasn't charged additional insurance. I have the receipt and charges in hand and they don't even want it or to prove that I was charged. They said the car was returned and the case was closed. They offer no help and no alternative. You will be stuck paying doubled insurance. Horrible customer care and no concern!

Good luck trying to communicate..

I tried making a reservation using this company and the pick-up and drop-off time differed from what I had entered. I tried correcting using their "Change Reservartion" link, but was taken in circles without any success. I wrote two emails to them and received no response. I was able to document my cancellation. PLEASE do not risk using this company for your car rental.

Poor customer service.

We rented a standard car through AirportRentals.com to be picked up in Orlando airport. The car company that was providing the car was Hertz.. When at the counter the attendant stated we rented a 2 door car standard automobile. That was incorrect according to the pictures & description on the AirportRentals.com website. They said we had to upgrade and the charge would be an additional $30 per day, but they would only charge us $10 per day. I contacted AirportRentals.com and they said that they couldn't change anything and I did rent a standard car according to their records. They would issue me a credit of $25 for a future rental. Even though I made the rental through AirportRentals.com, they were not able to assist me with this issue and help to get everything resolved. So instead of paying $279 for our vacation stay for 12days rental, it was $422. I always have used Hotwire and never had a problem. I will not trust Airportrental.com in the future and don't depend upon them to stand by their customer, nor assist with an issue after you've booked the rental. Seems to be out of their hands after the booking takes place.
