Akshay has been a wonderful chess coach for my 7-year-old son over the past around 8 months. He strikes the perfect balance, fun and engaging, yet firm and patient when it counts. He keeps careful notes and remembers details from past sessions, which helps students track their progress and ensures each lesson builds meaningfully on the last.

Akshay also has deep knowledge of chess history. He weaves in fascinating stories from the game's past and connects them to what students are learning, making each class feel richer than just moves and tactics. My son looks forward to every session.

I wholeheartedly recommend Akshay to any parent looking for a coach who is both skilled and genuinely invested in their student's growth.

My kids have been taking chess classes from Akshay for the past 2 years now. He is the most professional and polite teacher I have interacted with amongst all online / offline classes which my kids have attended.



As regards to his class, he takes one-on-one sessions which contribute a lot to improving one’s game. His patience and dedication are evident as he tailors the class as per the need of the child learning. For example to engage my younger one, he focussed more on puzzles and building a rapport with him initially to get him into the game.



The greatest testament to his teaching effectiveness is that within 6-8 months of my son taking his classes, he made it to his school’s chess team.

Akshay is a very dedicated teacher. He assesses the level of aptitude of his students very well and tailors the chess puzzles/sessions accordingly. He also ensures that all activities in the class are well-planned and timed. My son's suggestion is to play games in alternate classes and not in every class.

My son is 5.5 years old and has been taking online chess class from Akshay sir since around 5 months. He knew basic chess moves before joining the class. We have seen a significant improvement in his game since the time he has started classes with Akshay sir. He is a very patient coach. As my son is very young, he gets distracted easily. Akshay sir never stops him from discussing topics other than chess. He indulges him for a while, and eventually gets him back on track. This makes the class all the more interesting for children. Also, he always starts the class with a game, rather than with instructions. He lets the child play first, and teaches later. My son enjoys and looks forward to his weekly chess class. I went to Akshay as a total novice in chess. Akshay is a sincere coach. He genuinely enjoys the interaction with young kids and invests his energy to ensure the learning experience is a pleasant one for that age group.

Akshay has a friendly but a very professional approach to his coaching sessions.
His coaching methodology is simple & very easy to grasp even for beginners.
He has a way of putting his wards at ease so that it's not a typical coach -Student session .but more of 2 players .
He teaches a variety of styles which makes his sessions all the more interesting.

Akshay has been teaching Freya chess now for approximately 7 classes.
He is a very patient teacher and has done a great job exciting Freya about chess. I think this stems from his genuine interest in chess and teaching kids. It’s not a commercial transaction.
What’s been great to see is how he has slowly built her skills class on class and crated genuine curiosity for chess.

I have found Akshay to be an excellent coach for my 7 year old son. Coaching a jumpy and distracted kid virtually is no mean feat! I have found Akshay to be patient, engaging and encouraging. He keeps the class interesting. I think the fact that he is has a similar aged child of his own helps him to relate much better and understand the child’s psychology. He is also quite generous with his time - I have noticed that he does not end a game abruptly or rush the child even when the time is up. He always completes the game and explains the moves, asks why the child chose a certain move, probes the child to think of a better move.
My son enjoyed the class, but we noticed that his attention span was lower, so when I suggested that Akshay cut the length of the class, he was receptive to it and tailored the class accordingly.
Overall an excellent experience that I would recommend without hesitation.

He has helped my kids learn chess and I have not seen them be this engaged and focused on anything prior to this. He is patient and has a way to teach chess easily to kids.

He has also helped me improve my own game and it’s fun learning and playing with him.

Akshay is very professional about his classes, always on time. For many of us parents dealing with remote sessions it is very helpful if we can help with log in anf leave for our own work calls as per schedule. Unfortunately this has not been my experience with many other teachers. He has a very positive and cheerful disposition and is respectful towards the student, not drawing on authority to enable learning. He communicates feedback very well. I would recommend Akshay very highly to any parent trying to develop interest in their child for the game of chess
