Useless

Useless. Provided a car that was no fit for purpose in Orlando, Was advised by roadside assistance when issue occurred to go to nearest Alamo branch who would be expecting me and would assist. Finally found them and they didn’t want to know. I have complained 3 times using their online contact form, 2 using text messaging, 2 by phone and once to a manager when returning the car. All of the pass the buck. Truly awful service . Avoid - save your money and use another rental company. They clearly do not care at all when issues arise. Pathetic lot!

Scam company! Beware and stay away!

I have rented a car from them and it became a nightmare. I have returned the car after hours and dropped off the key. Everything was fine during rental and we did not have any problems. The next day I have received a car report which claims that the spare tire is missing and I have to pay 1700€ fee. This is ridiculous, firstly we did not have any tire problems and secondly I have not even opened that compartment. I did not know that you have to check that the tire is there when picking up the car. No one showed us anything when we made a pickup. Why would I need to take a spare tire from some random car in another country???? This is a major scam!

Can not use debit card here…

Knoxville Airport Alamo - Can not use debit card here if you have TN license and it does not matter if you are flying in from another state. Manager said people will get fired if they rent to someone with a TN license with an out of state flight and they only have a debit card. Although their website says "Renters using a debit card at an airport must show proof of a return flight or other travel itinerary and their driver's license must match their current home address (active-duty military are exempt). If you don't have a return ticket, you'll need a credit card to cover the rental and a $300-$400 deposit", which I showed my military ID. I also was flying back out of state. The manager didnt care to assist at all. He told me go and find an Uber. My family and I will never rent here again. I will be telling everyone I know about this experience with Alamo.

NEVER rent with ALAMO

NEVER rent with ALAMO
They have no remorse or customer service for thier actions. I drove in Tallinn it was the first time i drove in the country and the highway speed limits moves from 110 to 50 on a dime ...i was slowing down but speed camera got me at 64. that was 4km/h over their accepted speed max limit. that incorred a 70EUR fine...ALAMO THEN DOUBLED IT TO 140EUR total for their "Fees"! Which they charged directly to my credit card I couldn't contest the fine as it wasn't my car and alamo was no help in trying to understand and drop or lower their fine. They had no flexibility, i communicated multiple times and they weren't helpful at all...IF we all stop using their service and make them go bankrupt they will get their end that they deserve!

Used Alamo in Porto

Used Alamo in Porto. Like a few others I had to drop the car off before the hire centre opened. Landed back in Gatwick to find they’d sent me a picture of the boot and charged me 400 euros! I’ve now been trying to dispute it for 2 weeks or at least get more detail. You’re just ignored. It’s so poor for a brand like Alamo. Worst hire car company I’ve used while travelling in Europe.

I really don’t want to even give one star…

I really don’t want to even give one star. The most dishonest company. We rented the car online and picked it up at Lisbon international airport. After initial check in for car rental at Alamo office at the airport, we were directed to the garage where there was a small office and the guy just handed the keys to us and pointed where to go to get the car. I asked him to go with us to give us the basic information on the car since it was a Toyota hybrid model, and my husband and I didn’t know anything about this type of car. He was dismissive and said it just like any other car. The garage had very low lighting and cars were parked so tightly and close to each other. My husband tried to turn on the car, get our phones paired in to use the gps with no success. So, I went to the guy he asked for help. He never offered walk through the car.
Anyways, when we got to our hotel and saw the car in daylight I noticed some scratches by the frame of the windshield. Unfortunately, we did not take pictures of the damage. Long story short, they charged us for the damage that had already existed. They asked for pictures from the day we received the car. We explained due to above mentioned conditions of the garage and ignorance of the guy at the garage we did not have any pics.
Also, they over charged us for the tolls. They told us to use the device that was installed in the car to pay
The tolls (similar to ezpass). Another scam that they played was every time we paid tolls using the devise, we were charged extra $18 for €3 or the most €5 tolls.

Alamo was just the worst experience…

Alamo was just the worst experience while renting a car ever.
Pick up was supposed to be at 7 am. Our plane arrived in Cairns at 5:30am, not their fault of course but after waiting for over two ours it was the first time we saw someone at the counter at 7:30. There were people in front of us with the same problem. The women then told us she needs to get the car ready for the first guys. About 30min later she came back with their car keys and checked them in. At about 8:45am it was our turn. Again the women told us she needs to clean the car and get it ready for pick up. At about 9:45am our car was ready and we could finally leave.

The car was completely fine and we were very happy with it. Unfortunately there was a drunk driver hitting our parked car outside of our hostel at night. Of course, this is once again not Alamo's fault. But the handling of the situation is the worst I have ever experienced. There was no hotline available at night to ask what to do in this situation. In the morning after we tried for about 30min to reach someone, we were told we need to bring back the car because they could not help us, as we were only insured with a third party.
We did what they asked us to do. At the counter of the airport nobody knew a thing. It took us another 2 hours to complete the process of claiming the damaged car.
The first and only sign of empathy was an exemption from the obligation to refuel on the part of the management. Later we were still charged of that fuel and we had to call them again to get the charge cancelled, what they did.
After a couple of days I did not hear anything from them. The only thing that happened was an unauthorised hold of 2000 AUD on my credit card, next to the authorised 5200 AUD hold because of the damage liability.
I called them again and nobody knew what this new hold on my card was about. It took them a few days and they cancelled the 2000 AUD but fully charged the 5200 AUD on my credit card, without sending me the damage report.
The date of the accident was the 19th of November. Until today I have not received a damage report which I need to get back my money from my insurance. Alamo have showed no empathy or understanding of the situation. Expect of a couple of standardised mails and some phone calls the customer service was a disgrace and 100% disappointing. I still hope they will send me the report, otherwise I payed 5200 AUD for a 4 day rental and an accident in which I did not even sit in the car.
Thanks a lot

Unecceptable

We rented a car from 14/08 to 26/08, in addition to having paid in advance, the card of my partner who is a few years older than me, was not accepted for the deposit, and even having the cash they didn't want it entrust the car.
So we had to add me as a second guide, which together with the deposit had an additional price of 579 euros…
Not only that, once the car was returned, two days after the return I was EXTORTED of another 244 euros, again for being in the group of young drivers, who had already been paid upon collection of the vehicle.
For a week both my partner and I have been trying to contact customer service which is practically non-existent.
Absolutely disappointed with the experience, and the staff.

Buyer beware

No-one in attendance when the car was collected.
Car dirty and several marks.
Car returned with no incidents.
1250 euros taken from credit card without notice claiming additional damage.
Dispute escalation procedure requested without response.
Are they just hoping I will go away?
Do they do this often?
Legal action being taken.

Terrible service

Terrible service. Due to a flight delay the rental office was closed when we arrived at Leeds Bradford Airport. I returned the following morning to collect the car, only to be told that it had been given away overnight and they had no cars available. They just said I could go to the Avis counter as "they have cars". Avis were very helpful but of course I had to pay again at a higher cost. I am still waiting for a refund from Alamo/Enterprise.

Helpful staff at o Farrell Street SFO

Helpful staff at o Farrell Street SFO. Jade at front desk sorted out an early pickup. Mark Aguilar worked hard to explain all the features of the car when we took it over . How to switch things on and more.

Could not help med cancel reservation

Could not help med cancel my reservation. The staf at the counter at Nice Airport could not help me, other than give med at phone number. Talked to customer service on the phone, they told med to go to the website. The website stated that I only could cancel via phone number. Called again, was sent back to website. Tried one more time, could not cancel thru website, and the staf at the counter or customer serice at the phone could help me.

Arrogant customer "service"

Always been very happy renting cars at Alamo in the US. But alas, the portuguese branch leaves everything to be desired.

Absolutely no willingness to seek a solutions or even communicate in a respectful and constructive way.

Luckily, I was able to go next door at Sixt and place my business there, and not only received better service but also a nicer car in the same compact SUV class (an Audi Q2 instead of a Hyundai something).

Avoid Alamo in Portugal. It's operated by a local excuse of a company called Guerin, a prime example of the portuguese (non existing) approach to service.

4 months troubles until guarantee was refunded

I had booked a car from Alamo via booking.com, and while booking I had to give my credit card number as a guarantee. While picking up the car in Lisbon Airport, they told me that I had to make another payment with my credit card, because the first one was just a guarantee. When I returned home I realized that both amounts had been taken immediately. Communication on the website and emails did never get a reply. Also booking.com was no help for me; they just said I had to phone to Alamo. Finally I contacted my credit card filing a complaint because of fraud. Now after 4 months I got my guarantee back, but I don't know if it was refunded by the card or actually by Alamo.
I had booked the car through Alamo, but actually I got the car from Guerin, which seems to be the same.
The car was ok, nothing to complain.
I am just disappointed how big my trouble has been to get my money back.

Alamo rent a car Malaga Airport.

Alamo rent a car Malaga Airport.
Great choice, i have used other car hire rentals at Malaga airport and have been left very disappointed with their services, Alamo was great, once we got in the shuttle bus ( 7 people ) from the terminal the driver had texted my name to the depot and i was greeted and welcomed to Spain by a member of staff ( never has this been done before on arrival to Spain ), I was given three choices on the fuel for the rental, full to full, full to empty or what ever was in the car, to be returned at the same level, the car had a full tank so i went for that option. I was shown the car which was a full size 7 seater vehicle, it probably helped that the car only had 2000km on it and was nearly brand new, i was told about the different insurances that i could purchase with absolutely NO hard sell on any of the options. I went for the best insurance as the car was new and didn't want any surprises on return.
The car itself was perfect in every way, diesel, auto and full air con.
The return service was very easy when i dropped the car off, a quick check over on the fuel and body work, I received an email conformation within a couple of minutes and was taken straight to the airport time by the pleasant shuttle bus driver.
I will defiantly use this outlet of Alamo on my return to Spain

Good experience with Alamo Rent-a-Car

Good experience with Alamo!!!!

How easy or how accurate were the directions?
Good customer service at Porto Airport and great shuttle service from/to Alamo station

How was the service at the counter?
Good customer service provided by the staff. However, further information should be provided in advance with regards to the full insurance package provided by Wisecars that is not accepted by Alamo.

How was the car?
The car was really good (definitely a good choice), However, it was handed over properly cleaned up inside (something that should be improved).

How was the returning process?
Returning process was great!!!! The lady that helped us with the process was absolutely amazing (wish it was always like that).

Overall
This was the first time I rented a car with Alamo and it was a good a experience.
