Sometimes in life you come across true excellence in those providing a service or treating you, just pure unadulterated excellent professional and personal care at the highest level possible. Alex Ionides, with his team at Moorfields, is one of those rare finds, ensuring the cataract surgery I had to have at short notice was as pain and stress free as it could possibly be. I couldn’t recommend him more highly!

When I first decided to have ICL surgery, I was originally going to go to an independent clinic. I had started the process of registering with them and having various pre-op appointments, and I was growing increasingly uncomfortable with every aspect of their approach. I spoke to a personal contact who works in the field of eye surgery, and I told him about my experience so far; he simply said, ‘Go to Moorfields’. He was absolutely right, and looking back on it now, I really do not like to think what might have happened if I hadn’t taken his advice. Choosing Moorfields, and Mr Ionides in particular, was absolutely the best decision I could have made. Mr Ionides is not only utterly professional and incredibly experienced, but he is also friendly, sympathetic and generous with his time. He took care to explain everything clearly, he performed all the procedures himself, and I could contact him at any point after each one if I had any concerns or if anything happened that I wasn’t sure about. I felt entirely confident at all times that I was in the best possible hands, and I never had a moment’s concern about anything. I would recommend Mr Ionides without hesitation to anyone. He is an excellent surgeon, and I feel extremely lucky to have been under his care.

Mr Ionides is a wonderful ophthalmologist. Would be most happy to recommend him to family and friends.
