Not a good experience

Not a good experience.
I bought a set of 3 ribbed galvanized garden planters from their eBay outlet shop in May 25. At the same time I bought several others in varying sizes from other sellers.
All were duly planted up and placed outside.
All are still fine apart from one of the set of 3 ribbed. The bottom of one has a large rounded band at the base where it is rusting badly. This appears to be due to the manufacturing process and insufficient galvanization. This should not happen over such a short period of time.
I contacted them via messages on eBay and got a reply from Rob who said:

Hello,
I'm afraid we would not provide a replacement for this item.
It is a rustic planter that will weather in time when left outside, we do not sell/advertise them as weather proof or that they have a specific weather proof coating.
All pieces are different so one may weather quicker than the others.

After sending my response disabusing him of this notion and highlighting his responsibilities as a seller and mine as a consumer, he replied asking me to return all 3 planters.

Bearing in mind all 3 planters have established plants in them, this is not proportionate or reasonable - and is not acceptable under the terms of The Consumer Rights Act 2015. I advised him that a satisfactory outcome would be 1 replacement planter (which I asked him for in the first place) or a partial refund for 1 planter.

I’ve yet to hear back but will update when I do.

Why do small (and big) businesses continue to behave in this way? Why do they think the law does not apply to them? The easiest business is repeat business so you have to treat your customers well! It’s not rocket science.

The mark of a good company is how they respond when things go awry, and clearly this company has earned their place on the ‘treat customers like cr@p’ pile.

A wonderful online shopping experience!

I think this might be my new, favourite small business to shop with!

I ordered three items from Alfie Francis and I can’t fault a single thing.

From getting 10% off for being a new customer (this is available to all new customers on their website!), receiving my order really quickly and the order itself being packed impeccably (whoever is packing these parcels deserves a shiny badge!!)

The items I ordered were even more beautiful than I expected, they quality is 10/10 and their customer service has been even better. Such a lovely, friendly team!

I’m looking forward to placing my next order :)

Great customer service

The item I bought is lovely and came very well packaged to avoid any chance of breakage. But more than that - it was likely to take 4 days to arrive and I was going away in 3. When I emailed to ask if it could be left somewhere safe in case I was away they responded that evening, arranged 48 hour tracked delivery, and it arrived in 2 days! Thank you.
