My journey
Hi Alana
A big thank you
It has been so good to have you along on my journey! Your resources and personal emails have made this journey so much more manageable.
My journey
I was diagnosed in late 2025 with IBS and told that FODMAP was the way to go, although was told that it was too hard and that most people couldn't manage it.. Well, my situation consistently got worse and by Easter this year- camping with 4 days of diarrhea, I spoke to a Dietician and commenced the journey. I downloaded the Monash Uni App, tried to become familiar with all the categories and attempted to go alone as there are no certified FODMAP dieticians in my area. Then I found you - hooray! Hours of education, helpful recipes and ongoing support has brought me almost to the end of my journey.
I am definitely intolerant of gluten, okay with lactose on my second introduction, fructose seems okay, celery and leeks have only had small reactions and yesterday I had some mushrooms soup! Garlic is still on my list to re-0introduce.
Can I ask a question, if I test okay to one food in a category ie celery, could I assume that mushroom would be okay? - I know that I have tested both these but does the same apply for each of the FODMAP groups? I feel that if I have to otest every food, I'll be doing this for a year!
Some success: I have lost 7 kilos, do not constantly look for bathrooms and am able to ignore some bloating, noises etc in my tummy.
I did use the NERVA App for the first 8 weeks which I found very useful.
