Booked online

I booked online - didn't like this system, however, a few minutes later - RESERVATION CONFIRMED.

I've used these folk years ago, they are still the same - the vans are not new, but they are well-maintained, clean and well-presented.

I can't comment on price as I won't use any other rental company - not worth the headache

I use them because they don't mess me about - no false claims of damage etc... it's an honest service, I treat their vehicles with respect and they treat me with respect...

A good service and recommended.

We will not use this company anymore

Rented a long based Van from these guys.
I will just write about why 2 stars and won't mention that the vans are acceptable condition and clean as this is how it should be.
Only 2 stars for the following reason:
I have rented a few time from this site and been told at the first time that for returning customer you do not need to book online just call and book on the phone and no deposit.
I have called, went through the whole booking process, when I told the person on the phone what I have been told he just transferred me over to another staff member and had to start the process again.
Then the person explained that now it has to be withing 3 as returning customer which is not exactly true as I have used the before with more than a year gap and the process was the same. So that's 1 star minus
The second star loss was because of the collection. It's long and annoying process.
We have presented all the documents to the staff member and mentioned what documents we have brought, he said ok hold on because there is an order he will do these in. Not sure what order was that as half the documents were not checked but requested, he couldn't use the driver's licence code and because there is no reception it took me about 10 minutes to check and provide NI number instead. So it was frustrating.
The third star disaperance is for the reason that they are still using the bring back the vehicle on whatever the fuel is at rather than Full to Full as all rental company does.
With this they make loads of extra money because you can not get the level dead on to when you picked it up so normally you will put more or bear the £12 fine and pay for the remaining fuel on a premium price.
It's unacceptable for a company like this to do that. Change to a full to full fuel system and stopp ripping of customers even more.
And lastly the 200 miles limit? This is a ridiculous amount and you don't get 200 each day, it's only going up by the fraction.
We rented the van for 2 days they asked where will it be used and at the end the staff said "ok so it's a 200 miles limit for the rental period" 200 miles for 2 days?? What do you think people use the Van for School run????
One positive thing tho, the drop off. The drop off guy grabbed the key and jumped on the checks and we were out there in 5 minutes.
You need to give him a bonus or something.
In all I don't believe we will use Alley Cat again. Not for personal or business use because of the above

I'm sorry we haven't met our usual efficiency when dealing with your booking. I'm unable to comment exactly as I'm not able to confirm you individually.

We pride ourselves on efficient service and work with every booking to make it easy. Its one of our most praised service factors. Sometimes profiles and booking history can be fragmented due to multiple accounts. Customers also move address so we do sometimes require paperwork and online bookings are treated differently so this can impact verification too. We only need two documents, so we may not have needed everything you brought (especially our team member established you had hired before).

We don't understand the comment about the licence check as we can do it for you but I'm sorry if you had trouble connecting to your network once here to present your code.

Our Fuel policy is to return it on the same level you collected, it is very rare we charge the admin fee for refuelling, that's for the worst case scenario, we are very friendly here :-)

The mileage limit was 350 miles over two days. I'm sorry if you were mis-informed. Less than 10% of our customers exceed the mileage limit and it charges at £0.20 per mile thereafter.

We will endeavour to improve and if you are willing to contact us to discuss this further I will certainly try to clarify your concerns.

Excellent company

Excellent company. Liam at the Thetford branch is a true professional. Extremely helpful, personable, knowledgeable and friendly. He has a genuine desire to help and goes out of his way to make the customer journey, vehicle rental, as easy as it can be.

Great vehicles, brilliant prices. My default choice for vehicle rental.

well first of all i book a automatic …

well first of all i book a automatic van as i have bad legs .turn up about 730am because never been here before. two men turned up was not very friendly he said we are not open yet your have to wait till 8am which i was doing any way . i said i ordered a outomatic he said we only have a manual . anyway he took pictures a the van loads of pictures he took of the van i left . we was busy so had keep it for another day .took it back on 2/1/2026 the van seats were dirty i told him i cleaned all the seats washed in side to make it look nice. i do this to show respect .and i put more fuel than i had in it . so i brought it back in good condition no marks . then the man checked over then he said you have scratched the back left side i said no i have no . then he brought the manager out and he said i have to look on the computer in side .as i went in i said to him i did not damage the van. there was 6 people in there .then he said that’s what all people say .disgusting rude and horrible behaviour .then i said i want my deposit back .which they took of my card .£300 he said busy with other customers. i nearly lost my temper but .i though if i did i would loose my deposit so i keep my cool .then i left .i was very angry to think they insulted me called me a liar and blamed me for damaging there van .then i walked home .and to my amazement i got a phone call .saying there was scratches .was already on there and it was our fault . to many insults and rude people never use this horrible company .mr s brackley is this you way of saying your sorry what a load of rubbish do you honestly thing i would ever hire if you again or recommend you to anyone else and regarding the p c n moving your daughter where she live is rubbish it’s a private company which has 1 star rating that rips people of oh so sorry your 3 stars and you tryed to rip me of saying i damaged the van you was trying to get £300 pound of me and i stood my ground so you failed to rip me of . believe me your rating can be seen by other users and it will wake them up to how you treat customers you can’t even realise your blaming people for scraping your van shame on you keep well away from this company all they want is your money and lie beware .

Dear Mr Brackley,

I have carefully investigated these complaints for you. We seem to have a completely different set of facts but all the same we are sorry you weren't happy with the service you received.

With regards to the pick up you were impatient and knocking on the window 15 minutes before we opened. We still managed to get you on the road withing 7 minutes of opening.

You booked a manual and our booking confirmation was evidence of this request. In fact on the day you booked, all Automatic SWB vans were on hire for the period you required so it would not have been possible to book an automatic.

We always take pictures of the vans before and after and this shows this is for good reason as we were able to identify the damage wasn't your fault and released your deposit within a short period despite a busy morning upon your return.

It also turns out you were subject to a PCN on your hire which you have been very rude about an as a result will not be allowed to hire from us again.

In summary, we did not call you a liar and did not blame you it was merely an investigation at that stage and it was stipulated clearly to you that we would take every effort to resolve the issue as quickly as possible once we had reviewed the evidence, which we did so. The holding deposit was not captured and released at the point of non fault discovery and so it would take no longer than normal for this to return to you.

THIS IS THE BEST VAN RENTAL COMPANY…

THIS IS THE BEST VAN RENTAL COMPANY EVER!

From start to finish, the customer service agents could not have been more professional, helpful and friendly. We booked the day before and got the perfect van for our needs. It was spotlessly clean and a doddle to drive, even in London rush hour traffic. Unfortunately we had a bit of a ding in London - a motorbike driver ran into our side mirror when we were stationary at traffic lights and smashed it, the Alley Cat agent we reported the incident to could not have been more laid-back and sorted it all straight away.
Highly recommended, 5*, thank you.
