allpaid dotcom caution & warning re: ‘processing error’ messages

This is a caution & warning rather than a complaint. When using allpaid dotcom for any reason and the site tells you ‘there was a processing error, please try again’ — you are urged to wait several hours if possible. Today we're in our third double-payment fiasco for this very reason, and resolution is complex. It's a municipal water bill. Online banking reports we made the payment twice, only minutes apart, so we contact City Hall. They refer us to the bank. The bank refers us to allpaid dotcom, and they refer us back to City Hall because funds have already been transferred and are in City-of possession. The allpaid site ‘transaction error – please try again’ / duplicate payment situation is a known issue only among those who have fallen victim to the inconvenience it causes and is not publicly well documented. The site does work and no scams or anything dodgey. But the site can be a bit glitchy. Allow plenty of time and exercise caution when using. Getting in an impatient hurry can be and is costly.
