I was charged £924 to have my front door lock gearbox replaced. Now, just over a year later this replacement gearbox has failed. Allservices4u say there’s only a 6 month warranty so they have no aftercare to give. Terrible service from a terrible company.
Although I recovered a good chunk (£637) of that £924 after getting 3 quotes from some honest and trustworthy MLA accredited locksmiths and a long and convoluted email and phone conversation with customer service, I am still disgusted by what we discovered in replacing the door gearbox again on March 3rd. And I shouldn’t have had to go through that process in the first place.
I appointed a local locksmith from the MLA website - he was baffled that the gearbox in the pictures I had taken of the broken door parts from Allservices4u visit did not match what should have been removed from the door. The broken gearbox he removed appeared to be very old/refurbished. Was I shown a substitute part and Alllservices4u never even replaced the gearbox hence it failed about a year since it was allegedly replaced?
He was baffled that the spindle had snapped and the barrel was also snapped. Three points of failure seemed very suspicious. The spindle was probably the only piece that had actually broken when the door handle failed judging from the way the handle freely spun around.
I was charged for parts that didn’t need replacing (door handles at £180!) but also for parts that seemingly were deliberately broken. Here’s the breakdown of that £924

callout £60.00
Total: £924.00
Now that £276 gearbox has failed and apparently only comes with a 6-month warranty so Allservices4u will not help with fixing it. Absolutely useless and a rip-off.
There are much cheaper and better locksmiths who do emergency call outs - look up the Master Locksmiths Association for an honest local locksmith.
My new locksmith has replaced the gearbox Allservices4u supplied (or did they?) for £45 (brand new part) and an hour’s labour at £75. With VAT that’s £144 and a year’s guarantee on the parts. Much better and an honest upfront quote, nothing like the ridiculous ‘and then this will cost’ charade from Allservices4u.
Avoid Allservices4u.

Stop Look Listen... Buyer Beware! Do not make the mistake to use these Cowboys ever! Shame really because Customer Services and the telephone assistant were very Professional. Unfortunately the Freelance Plumber was not and tried to get paid for a half completed Job. Called Trading Standards and the Police once they tried to invoice me via SMS for Payment of the unfinished Job. Please just don't use them for odd jobs.

The plumber came and asked me to provide silicone for the job, saying that I needed to supply it. I gave him a brand new tube.
At the end of the job, I noticed he put the new silicone in his toolbox. I asked him if he had used all the silicone and he said yes. I then asked him about the new tube that was in his toolbox, but he could not explain it properly.
Very unprofessional and dishonest behaviour. I would not recommend this company.

Dishonest unreliable staff on the Fire Door Services. I have no idea if they have done a good job as they are unwilling to provide a certification of the remedial work they have undertaken against a failed fire door cert and charged nearly £800 for 3 hours work!

Overcharged
Quoted us a price of £59 for labour plus cost of the lock when called up. No additional costs were stated. The locksmith came and chnaged the lock in under 8mins and then asked for £179!! Not once did he tell us the cost would be more than quoted before doing the job. This was a simple lock change and checking online for exact lock its £15.99 (should be cheaper for a tradesman). So essentialy charged us £130 for a £15.99 lock. Rang up and emailed asked for itemised receipt multiple times but was just sent total costs. Locksmith said nothing i can do speak to allservices4u. Terrible do not use as ridiculously overcharge for the job from what they quote and costs are not transparent. Look at the other 1 star reviews exact same issues experienced by others as i have.
In response to feedback below, i already have emailed in and didnt get anywhere really as just told £59 for labour and the extra was for the lock (available for £15.99) online. And no acknowledgment that we were at no point advised of the extra costs by phone or by
Locksmith .

A REALLY BAD PLUMBING WORK
They sent someone who was not even a professional plumber and did more harm than good leaving me without hot water ( I had before he came) but charging for one hour of work and saying that he would fix it ASAP and still waiting after 5 days.

2 weeks no heating/water, no fix, had to go elsewhere after having paid
I arranged for a plumber to attend at 8:30am to repair my boiler. He arrived an hour late and explained what he believed the issue to be. He then returned on the Saturday to “fix” it — arriving two hours late again.
Unfortunately, the repair made the situation worse. Over the following two weeks, he came back a further two times, tinkering with the boiler and plumbing, but without resolving the problem (but I had paid for the "fix"!). During this period, I was left with no heating or hot water. He then failed to attend a fifth scheduled visit altogether.
In the end, I had no choice but to instruct another company, who diagnosed and fixed the issue on their first visit — at a significantly lower cost.
I have attempted to contact Andy numerous times over the past month to seek a resolution, but despite being told he is “very busy,” the matter remains unresolved.
