Patrick Mcgawley was the agent assigned…

Patrick Mcgawley was the agent assigned to my claim and he was not very helpful at all. Not only was he negligent, his responses were delayed and fragmented. He rarely addressed all of my concerns and seemed to ignore my request. The worst experience ever and I hope to never do business with this company, EVER AGAIN.

Good Hands


In November 2025, my home sustained significant water damage. What followed was not an insurance claim — it was a months-long fight to stay housed while Allstate systematically found reasons to pay less, delay more, and ultimately cut off the coverage I paid for.
By February 2026, my home was gutted. Bathrooms stripped to studs. No working plumbing. Active demolition still in progress. On February 11, 2026, Allstate terminated my Additional Living Expense benefits — the coverage that was paying for that hotel room see attachments.
Their adjuster told me on a recorded call that ALE was ending because of my unpaid deductible. They later repeated a version of this in writing. This is not a legitimate basis to terminate loss-of-use coverage under Texas law, and I have that statement on record. The uninhabitability of my home was not disputed — their own contractor confirmed it. They cut off my housing anyway.
Since November, I have watched estimate versions change without explanation, line items disappear without documentation, and submitted hotel folios sit in pending status for weeks with no approval, no denial, and no response. My contents claim was effectively zeroed out through deductible mechanics, despite documented item losses. I have receipts, recordings, written correspondence, and a paper trail that tells a story Allstate cannot explain.
I have filed formal complaints with the Texas Department of Insurance and retained legal counsel. I am not writing this review out of frustration. I am writing it because every person reading this deserves to know exactly what Allstate’s “good hands” looked like from inside a hotel room, waiting for a company to honor a policy I paid for — while my home sat in pieces and they searched for reasons to close the file.
If you are considering Allstate, document every call, save every email, and understand your state’s insurance code before you ever need to use it. Because when it matters most, the policy you think you have and the coverage they are willing to deliver are not the same thing. One final word about the agent who sold me this policy, Trey Garcia. When I needed help navigating what Allstate was doing to my claim, he made one thing clear: he is only the sales agent. He sold me the policy, collected the premium, and stepped aside the moment I needed someone in my corner. If you are considering purchasing through him specifically, understand that the relationship ends at the sale. The “good hands” he promises are not his to deliver — and he will not be there when Allstate proves that.

If I could give Allstate Canada a review of ZERO or even in minus I would. The customer service is a nightmare.

Allstate wants nothing but your money. Customer service non existent. They won't return emails and calls.

Put your fault on claim bcaz the opposite vehicle is TTC’s vehicle even you don’t have any fault.

I have been calling Allstate for two…

I have been calling Allstate for two weeks trying to get a COC sent to the BMV and they have stonewall and drag their feet this whole time. The people I talked to on the phone were rude and didn’t understand what I was asking for and this has just been such a nightmare. Do not get insurance through Allstate. They lie and they don’t do what they’re asked for.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. My husband spent over 3 hours on the phone changing our auto insurance and home owners insurance. Yesterday we got 3 letters saying we aren't eligible for the home owners insurance. When he called today he was transfer multiple times only to be hung up on.

Not trustworthy

I would give this company a zero rating if it were possible. Greg Garris of Willow Grove, PA is a fraud. He is only after your money and will lie and cheat to get it. This company displays a huge lack of integrity and is not trustworthy. They send generic replies to complaints as if they will look into them and never do. Another slick tactic of theirs.

Overpriced

Overpriced, When I switched over to Allstate,I was told I was the kind of customers they like. I had never filed a claim. They dropped me a month later for older roof which I had already told them about and that would be addressed when the warmer weather came.

Don’t use Allstate for your homeowner or car insurance

I asked my Allstate agent if a water pipe was to break within my concrete foundation of my house would it be covered by my policy and he couldn’t provide an answer even though this is what I explicitly asked for along with fire and structural insurance. Since he seemed to have no idea, he referred me over to claims who did not give me a straight answer either. I have no idea if I am being covered for a situation like this. Allstate used to be a decent company now it’s a worthless piece of crap.

We canceled our policy with Allstate…

We canceled our policy with Allstate because we went with a company that offered better rates. This was after Allstate jacked our rates 3 times and we never had a claim. Even though we had canceled Allstate was still taking money from our account. It was $6 three times adding up to $18. I contacted them and they claimed they had no record of it even though I had receipts. So I had to go through the hassle of turning in as fraud to my bank to get my money back. I know $18 isn't much but it adds up and in this day in age every penny counts. Also like I said we canceled so they took money that didn't belong to them. Hey Allstate that is considered theft! The bank got my money back but still... Also I was charged $36 stop payment fee so I gained nothing. Shame on you Allstate! By the way you now owe $36 because I shouldn't have to pay to get money back that you stole!

Allstate provided a dozen fraudulent…

Allstate provided a dozen fraudulent comparisons in my settlement. After a month of disputing, we agreed on a settlement. A month or more after cashing the check, Allstate audited the claim and now wants me to pay them $3,281.08.I have researched Allstate since and found that these fraudulent comparisons are commonplace at Allstate. Beware.

Been with Allstate since age 16

Been with Allstate since age 16. My home is less than 10 years old and was inspected by our fire department for clear defensive space and passed with flying colors. Allstate is non renewing and refuses to discuss my minimal fire risk.
This is not a way to treat a customer after decades of loyalty.
I am canceling my auto, boat and RV and to much surprise I am saving over $1400 per year. After the company went public they care more about their stock prices than their policyholders. Truly NOT in good hands!

They didn't pay a fair market value for…

They didn't pay a fair market value for my vehicle when my vehicle was totaled they low ball, during the pendenmic, when used car prices were 40% higher to replace.
Adjusters in different parts of the country, different time zones couldn't reach most of the time voicemail. Very poor service.

More recent same problem with adjuster. Was hit from rear by hit skip on claim they had I collided with other vehicles which was a lie. Did pay anything because I was making a delivery. So remember if you deliver pizza, or anything or using vehicle to have an income the good hands people are useless. That's my experience with them.

Very creepy marketing from Allstate…

Very creepy marketing from Allstate agents. They keep sending letters with pictures of the exterior of my house. I did not authorize them to use these pictures and both Zillow and Google do not allow such use of pics without the permission of the property owner. I have complained to Allstate but corp says they cannot control the agents.

Stole my shit and left me hanging

Did not return my item therefore I could not continue with my claim. They stole my package and left me without help..

They responded to this complaint and wanted me to call them and ad more confusion for them to ignore.

Its not insurance practice its fraud with an excuse department

I'm still waiting on my stolen item to be returned. You will lose when using allstate

Just awful customer service

Just awful customer service. We reported an accident which was not our fault, it took forever to get to speak to an agent, then they kept repeating questions, interrupting, and getting information wrong. Then gave us the wrong advice about filing a police report (said it was optional, which it is not in California for this level of accident). I will be switching insurance companies FAST.

Had Allstate for over 25 years

Had Allstate for over 25 years. Two daily drivers, and my homeowners. They really screwed me over. Almost 4 years ago I was involved in a crash where a woman broadsided me, very young police officer shows up takes report does not cite her for the crash, because he claims “he didn’t see it “.. I didn’t worry, I was in “good hands “supposedly I had the best policy available zero deductible, accident forgiveness, etc. etc. three years after that there was what I would call a “mutual scraping “in a parking lot we are a very young driver scraped my front bumper. Absolutely no damage to my truck truck, zero, they had a scratch. The mother of this very young driver insisted on a police report. Officer came out, took Report, could not cite anyone. Once again “parking lot “, and “I didn’t see it happen “. Again I didn’t worry “I was in good hands with all state so I thought. My rates never went up. I will add that I have been driving for over 45 years, have never had a traffic ticket. Have never caused a traffic crash, have “safe driver “on my license forever. Last year I purchased a Classic car. Went to ensure the Classic car with an auto insurance company that specializes in classic cars. I come to find that the people who I thought I was in “good hands “with worked behind my back, quietly to sabotage me. While I was never faulted or charged with either of those two described incidents, because Allstate had to “pay something out “they held it against me. There was also a Windshield rock chip claim on my Daly driver, which they also hold against me. When they listed the two incidents(rock chip not included) in the computer database for insurance claims, Lexus/Lexus, or something like that,, they were very ambiguous. This creates a problem that got me denied insurance from the Classic car insurance carrier. Safe driver, zero points on my license, ever! No traffic tickets, ever and I get denied… it gets even better, after 25 years I decide to leave Allstate because of this. A friend recommends a broker. Bring all my documents to the broker, he calls me back the next day and informed me that Allstate still had the replacement value of my home, at the same same replacement value it was when I purchased the home 22 years ago. Which made it some $225,000 less than it was supposed to have been insured for. “Good hands “….I THINK NOT… not only did the broker find me a different policy for my homeowners bringing me up to the current value of my home, raised all of my limits of coverage, and saved me $1200 a year!…… I will furthermore add, that days after what I call a “mutual scraping “in the parking lot with a very young driver who cut into me, I get a call,, on a Sunday! By a woman claiming to be a claims adjuster for Allstate. I was at a family gathering. And this woman, who barely spoke a word of English. Was rude, and belligerent. Every time I asked her to please repeat what she said because I could not understand it, she got upset with me. When I asked her why she was calling me on a Sunday when I was at a family gathering, she said “I have a job to do “… When I told her chapter in verse how the little scraping incident happened. She flat out told me that she refused to believe me. And refused to believe I had not one mark on my plastic front bumper of my truck that was anything noteworthy. I informed her I sent pictures three days ago when I made the report, and told the first adjuster I spoke to that I had no damage. This person that claimed to be an Allstate Claims adjuster. Was extremely unprofessional and absolutely ridiculous. Very accusatory. As if she was working against me, definitely working against me. This is why after 24 years or so I left Allstate. Nobody from a management position bothered to contact me and asked me why I left after so long, just about a quarter century, of loyalty. They act like they’re doing you a favor charging you big premiums, keeping you under insured, and working behind your back to sabotage you quietly. I strongly advise anyone to stay clear of Allstate. They’re not doing you any favors. They’re not even representing themselves in a professional fashion. They put blemishes against you that you rightfully do not deserve. You were never ticketed or cited for any incident, but yet, they report it differently, if they have to pay out one nickel. Horrible company! NOTICE…… within one hour after posting this I get a generic AI generated response. I want to talk to someone in charge, a supervisor. Not any “customer care representative"classic AI generated BS response. I want to talk to a human

What a POS company

What a POS company. I'm an insurance agent myself, not for Allstate though... I decided do go with them despite reviews which was against my better judgement. Needless to say, it was a stupid mistake made simply on the grounds of price, and not "You get what you pay for" which is worth more than price when it comes to insurance. I've only been with them for 4 months and on the first auto renewal they increased my price by 20%, no tickets, no violations or accidents. Same policy, new price. To make matters worse they refuse to tell me how much of a discount I'm receiving on my Homeowners policy for having the auto as well. I bought the policies because the homeowners was low enough to just justify the enormous auto policy. Lesson learned, I'll be going back to State Farm with a slightly higher price with out hesitation.

Horrible customer service

I received renewal documents in early January, 2026. The quoted cost for my auto policy was $597.17 and stated that if I paid in installments there would be an additional installment fee. “If you do not pay in full, you will be charged an installment fee(s). “If you pay in full(includes Fullpay Discount) $548.77. I paid in full on 1/14. A couple weeks later I got a letter stating that they “changed” my policy. I called 1-800-ALLSTATE to get an explanation and was told that I had dropped the autopay option. I was repeatedly put on hold and not given an explanation as to why that mattered when I paid the policy in full per their paperwork. When I insisted on talking to a supervisor, she hung up on me. I called back and again requested to speak to a supervisor. This rep put me on hold and came back to say the supervisor was busy with someone else and she would call me back within an hour. I never got a call back. A few days ago I received another letter/bill with, now, an amount due of $30.40.
This is obviously a scam to get clients to pay in full and then claim additional funds or simply a scam to collect additional funds that are not due. HORRIBLE customer service and unethical business practices. I will be changing carriers asap. Stay away from these hucksters.

Inept Allstate claims adjuster
