If I could rate this company zero…

If I could rate this company zero Stars, I would. In my opinion, this is nothing more than a scam organization. Unfortunately, when I bought a new car, they had financing through Ally. I had originally sent them a $10,000, lump payment for my first billing cycle.
They did not credit this to my account, but spread this out over my next Year's monthly payment. I called them to explain I was going to make the monthly payments, but I wanted this as a lump some payment. The rude customer service representative, agreed more or less, when I check next month this had not been done. When I sent my monthly payments, But again did not credit it toward my principal.
When I accessed my online account, suddenly it told me that my password was incorrect, which it was not and it had been saved on my computer. I called Ally to sort this out (Good luck getting someone on the phone, long wait periods only to be disconnected) But they gave me a temporary password and said it was reset. Again, I was not able to access my online account. This game went on for quite a few rounds.
I am 61 years old with an excellent credit rating, I have dealt with mortgage companies, loan companies, credit card companies throughout my whole life and nothing could have prepared me for the experience that Ally put me through. Everything from not being able to access my account online, to the most rude and disrespectful customer service representatives that I have ever encountered. I am absolutely the nicest guy in the world, there is no reason for them to be this way.
In my opinion, and with my experience, I would never, ever deal with this company again and I would recommend that others follow soon.

RUN FROM this BANK!

Go to Capital One, Chase, Discover, or even Credit One—literally, anyone else over this bank! I had seven years with Ollo before Ally took it over. I had that card to rebuild my credit after medical debt bankruptcy the previous year. I started with a $500 credit limit and worked it up to a $2,400 credit limit over the years. I was never late on a payment, whether it was with Ollo or when Ally took over. My card had a $0 balance, and it had only been three months since my last use when I received a letter this week stating they closed my account due to "inactivity" and "high risk". My bankruptcy is eight years old, with not a single late payment since then, and my credit score is 705.

I called the Ally bank number online and chose the credit card option to speak to a representative. They proceeded to tell me they couldn't reopen an account and that I needed to call Ally Bank. I told him I thought that was who I had called, and he said, "Yeah, but we are the credit card division," to which I replied, "I know, this is about a credit card." After some back and forth and confusion, I called Ally Bank, and they transferred me to the credit card line, who again told me there was nothing they could do.

After seeing the other reviews, I realize I am not alone in this. They apparently are just closing many accounts and have horrific customer service. Obviously, this affects people's credit, especially when they have worked hard over seven years to build it back up, do everything right, and still have it closed. When I tried to leave this review on their page, I get an error message "Our Ratings & Reviews page isn't working right." I wouldn't trust this bank at this point.

Trash

Pretty much every time I try to access the website my account is locked out. The site says I can call 24-7 but when I click on call I find the hours are actually different and not even 7 days a week. Also there are several 5 star reviews that claim English speaking customer service. This is not true they are from India(very kind lady with an obvious Indian accent even told me when I asked her). Several other reviews claim they are suspicious of all the negative ratings. People come to this site to write a positive review? It's a bank not a neighborhood business. I would bet they positive reviews are bs. They at least all follow a theme.

UNTRUSTWORTHY COMPANY…

Company lies and tell you that they have not receive your check that you mailed to them a month ago for a car payment and you pay with the customer rep for fear of receiving a late fee and then Ally mysteriously finds the check and cash it which they were told not to cash because you have already paid them for the month and ally cash the check causing your funds to be low in your bank and not able to pay your bills.

Simply fee-free.

Ally is easy to communicate through a real person without an accent that is difficult to comprehend. A real person! The interest rate is the best around. NO fees. Simple to connect with local minor account and Ally for transfers. The best bank I’ve ever had. Highly recommend to real people who are looking for a real bank that is smart enough to pay you for storing your money almost any way you want to receive real cash in return. No gimmicks, no points, no wasted time. You just get more than you put in!

I’ve had amazing experiences with this…

I’ve had amazing experiences with this bank. They’ve allowed the account to go -200 before with no fees and no repercussions for up to 45 days. They actually try and help you on the mobile chat rather than getting someone who doesn’t speak English on a phone call, and they reimburse every last ATM fee that you have within that month.

Wouldn’t ever recommend this bank

I have a power of attorney over my incarcerated husband. I opened a checking account for him and transferred 4k to the account and on that day when the money hit the account they locked that account saying that password went too many times wrong and i have password saves on my phone so that is not true even. They are refusing to accept the power of attorney since i don’t have a social security number. Customer service doesn’t care and they only want my husband to call there knowing he can not. I have been trying to offer a affidavits that’s notarized Where he would be stating that he wants to be open and me to be draft the money, but they don’t accept anything. Customer service also don’t listen and they talk over you, fraud prevention department hangs up on you.

Would not recommend to anyone

I had a loan through Ally for around 5K. I never had a late payment or issues with my account. Ally promised a smooth transition when they sold my loan to SYNCHRONY, some of the worst people to do business with. I am now locked out of my account because Synchrony refuses to accept my username and password that I used for Ally. Horrible experience overall, will not be recommending Ally to anyone.

This review is my recent mortgage experience…

This review is my recent experience with Ally powered by Better on a Mortgage Loan. I would give another half star.
Let me preface by saying we did close on time. Also, the process for a pre-approval was quick. Up to when I locked in my rate things were smooth. An account needed to be set up, then the tasks were listed and your progress and requirements were spelled out. They are very strict and inflexible on documents needed. They do dot every “I” and cross every “t” They will pull a soft credit initially for your pre-approval and a hard one when locking in and a final soft one again before granting the loan. Caution, do not apply for any credit during this process, until you have closed.
However, towards the latter half, it became agonizing and frustrating as the closing date drew nigh. No one was getting back timely on matters which further compounded the problem. Especially when it was stipulated that it will be an out of state Notary closing. The Title Co. or myself, were not being responded to despite numerous emails, texts and messages.
My income which comprised a Roth Conversion amount that required reporting as income would not be counted unless I withdrew the amount from the Roth Account and placed in a Bank Account. Though it was in a separate Roth Account. A route I chose not to go as I would have had to pay taxes on the gain in the Roth which would would become tax free in 5 years and interfered with my investment strategy. This income was originally OK in the initial pre-approval.
Further the closing would not have taken place and I would have lost earnest and option monies to the Seller along with appraisal fees. Had I not enquired if an increased down payment beyond the 20% planned down payment would still qualify me for a Loan. Fortunately, I had the extra money available. I had to have approx 50% LTV to avert not closing. Not everyone would be so lucky to have monies available which was almost 150% more beyond the down payment.
Next, the task in my account required for an address and time of closing. It did not allow for any remarks so we could remind it was a Notary closing and which information would be provided by the Title Co.
Professionalism, effective and timely communication is important from the Loan Officer to the Processing Specialist. Thorough knowledge of the income process(when it’s not just W2, Interest, Dividends,SS, Pensions and the like) anything out of the ordinary warrants investigation and communicated earlier to the borrower and not until it gets to underwriting. By that time it’s too late. As much time and effort is lost and then a frantic feeling ensues. Leading to a feeling of hopelessness, total disappointment and anger. And you would hope no one else experiences the same.

Be aware of Pre approved letter

Sent me a letter Pre approving a credit card. They make it supposedly very easy to apply. Please be aware that they run a HARD INQUIRY in your credit and this is not stated in any part of the letter or application website.
When you call them to have an explanation there is none. The credit customer rep even said do you want a straight answer? contact the bureaus. What tipe of company is this? At least we deserve a very detailed explanation after a HARD inquiry.

When I cancelled my Warranty

When I cancelled my Warranty, the rep told me my new monthly payment going forward will be lower, because I was cancelling it before my 1st payment that my finance balance will change.. However, I guess that wasn't true and now I am paying the same monthly payment that was set with higher finance balance due to the warranty that I did not want...... Horrible experience.. cant wait to get this one refinanced.

I submitted a wire transfer request at…

I submitted a wire transfer request at approximately 11:30AM EST on a Friday. It is now after 1:00PM on the following Monday and the money still has not been wired. Customer Service states that Ally handles transfers on a first come first serve basis and that there is a 3:00PM cutoff. I submitted all the required information hours before the cutoff. Basically the bank is saying they can send the wire whenever they want. The whole point in sending a wire transfer is to move the money quickly. So I am forced to pay $20 for horrible customer service. I could have overnighted a check much quicker than this.
