We had a great family lesson and introduction to the world of surfing from Rod. He started off explaining the tides and currents which is great for our 2 kids to understand beach safety. Progress was quick in the sea and Rod is such a great teacher. The lesson was so much fun and Sandymouth beach is beautiful - along with the bonus of a very well marshalled NT car park and cafe. THE perfect place to learn away from the hordes with a great teacher. Cheers Rod! 🇧🇷

Really great guy. Very patient and good with the children. None of us had surfed before (family of 5), but we were all able to do so at the end - although some more than others!

Having read fantastic reviews my hopes were high and Rod did not fail to deliver. Easy relaxed contact, booking and form filling over text message, on time at the hut and gave our 2 girls (9& 13) 2hrs of fantastic surf lesson and tutoring which resulted in both standing up by the end of the session. Loved it so much we booked another lesson for the following week!

Rod was great. He really broke down what the boys needed to think about in an easy to access way and moved on the elements of the lesson to match the pace they were picking it up at. Highly recommend. Everyone enjoyed themselves and had the confidence to then give it a go all week!

Rod was a great instructor. Highly recommend. He was fun to be around, took time to teach us a lot of very interesting info about the sea and made the whole experience really fun. And we stood up on our boards too!

Brilliant beginners surf lesson for my 2 daughters (9 and 11). Rod gave great tuition, His love for what he does shines through and he had them both up and standing but most importantly made it fun. Highly recommended.

We (myself and 2 daughters) used Aloha Surf School whilst on holiday near Bude at Sandymouth Beach. The instructor, Rod, was as you’d expect knowledgeable and an experienced surfer. He was great at communicating to the different age groups; explaining key skills, concepts and safety. The lesson lasted a good couple of hours and we all managed to stand up for a second or 2. Rod’s teaching helped me understand I needed my body further up the board which I hadn’t done before, which I can carry forward now. Many Thanks. Rob and girls.

We had an absolutely amazing time in a private surf lesson with Aloha Surf School. Neither of us had ever surfed before but Rod was calm, patient and taught us a lot about how to read the beach and waves, rip currents in order to be safe.
We had so much fun, felt so safe and will definitely be back for lesson two.

Every start is difficult. Every rookie is different. That's why the lessons were all the more enjoyable for us. Everyone in the family received help and support in exactly the right place. And all this combined with a lot of humour and fun. Surfing is fun! Thanks Rod

Booked a private group lesson for 4 children, aged 12-15.

Rod was a brilliant instructor! From messaging before with reminders to eat and drink thoroughly and also letting us know if the sea conditions were suitable.
Started with sea safety, which is so important. Before moving onto the beach with a few exercises on the sand and then they headed into the water. Most of the lesson they were in the water, only returning briefly the beach again to get instructions on how to stand up on the board.

By the end of the lesson all 4 kids were standing up. They all said Rod was a fun instructor who made the experience great and not at all boring.

Brilliant surf lesson for our three boys. It was the highlight of our summer holiday! Rod was so friendly and a great teacher. All three children (aged 15, 13 and 10) were standing up and surfing waves within 90 minutes and also learnt a lot about sea safety

Son (15) and Daughter (9) had a 2 hour session with Rod. We find it difficult to find activities that both ages can engage and enjoy together. It was an excellent experience. Both children got a lot of tuition as it was a 1:2 ratio. I felt very confident with Rod taking them out - he gave lots of tips of things to do before they went out. Mr teen 15 said that when I write a review could I give Rod a score of 100 out of 10! That says it all! Thank you Rod

We had a fantastic experience with Rod - couldn't have been better. We were a beginner group from a couple of families, ages ranging from 10 to 42. Rod was really clear, covered all sorts of extra info, gave personal tips & was super helpful all round - especially being really kind to the smallest group member who had to battle the waves to get out into the surf each time he caught a wave!

My kids had 2 lessons last week with Rod and were standing up within an hour. Amazing 1 to 1 tuition from an amazing coach. Many thanks Rod. Kids had a blast. Lifetime of memories created in a few hours.

We booked a two hour surf lesson for our 10 and 7 year old. The lesson was outstanding and we were astonished at how quickly our children (complete beginners) learnt to surf. Within the first hour, our children progressed with ease as the different steps were taught. We were amazed that both were standing on the boards and surfing with confidence. The session was delivered with much fun, trust and confidence - everything we could have asked for.
We will book a further session when we are in the area again.

Rod was amazing! Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. My younger daughter changed her mind 20mins in but my eldest stuck with it. Rob was so encouraging, he was determined to get her stood up and surfing! Unfortunately by the end my daughter was tied and just couldn’t keep her balance to get stood up.
Rob very kindly offered for her to go back the next day to try on a different board. He also took the time to speak with us and explained how she couldn’t practice at home. The next afternoon that was it, she was straight up first time!! She was buzzing with pride and now truly has the surfing bug. We couldn’t recommend Rod highly enough!

Booked a surf lesson for myself and 3 of my children whilst at Sandymouth. Booking the session was quick and easy through text. Met Rod on the day of the lesson and he was excellent with the 3 children, 10,12,14, and myself. Explained clearly the dangers of rip tides and what to look for when in the sea to stay safe. The lesson was kept fun and we all spent more time trying to catch waves than sitting on the beach. Rod made the process of surfing very simple and broke it down into smaller stages so we could gradually get used to what we needed to do to eventually catch a wave and surf back to shore. All of us managed to get up on the board and surf, even if mine was only for a few seconds before I wipedout lol.
