Caring
My 91-year-old father, Gerry, was discharged from the hospital, his choice, with or after a urinary tract infection (UTI), a Parkinson’s disease flare-up, and dehydration.
We anticipated an imminent NHS care package. However, this was not the case, and we quickly found ourselves unable to cope.
I contacted Amazing, I mean Amaiva, on a Sunday afternoon. They were the sole provider to respond within the same day and were able to schedule an initial visit for Wednesday morning that same day. Amazing!
Emma and Leanne arrived at 9 a.m. as scheduled to assess Gerry. At that moment, we were contemplating a two-week recovery plan involving personal care and appropriate exercise.
We felt able to place our complete trust in Emma and Leanne, allowing them to guide us through this challenging situation. We felt utterly unprepared for the circumstances.
We immediately felt in safe hands with Amaiva.
My mother, myself, and my husband were all profoundly impressed by their professionalism, clear communication, and unwavering sense of safety and genuine care to do the best for my father and us.
We promptly engaged Amaiva’s services.
The quality of care provided was unparalleled. Personal care was carried out with the utmost dignity.
However, there was a rapid deterioration in Gerry’s health due to a UTI, which exacerbated his advanced Parkinson’s disease.
Emma effectively communicated directly with the general practitioner to expedite the prescription of medication after our initial efforts proved ineffective.
The team at Amaiva promptly organised a hospital bed at very short notice.
Gerry’s condition continued to deteriorate, necessitating a decision from us regarding his hospitalisation and end of life care. Gerry had previously expressed his strong desire to avoid hospital admission.
We choose to follow my fathers wishes.
Emma had explained the adverse effects of declining medical intervention. The explanation was given with compassion and empathy, assuring us that we had made the optimal decision for Gerry and fostering a sense of security with the Amaiva team.
Following the advice of the GP’s surgery and the NHS clinical team, the team transitioned to palliative and then to end-of-life care. These adjustments were executed with remarkable ease by the team.
The quality of care provided to Gerry was unparalleled.
The compassion and care extended to my mother, myself, and my husband was also exceptional.
Leanne and Vicky, the other highly skilled carer who provided care for Gerry, were present when he passed away. They were instrumental in guiding us through the subsequent steps and ensuring that Gerry was prepared for the removal by the undertakers.
We are profoundly grateful to Emma, Leanne, and Vicky for making Dad’s final days as stress-free as possible.
I would unequivocally recommend Amaiva Care to individuals with varying short-term, medium-term, or long-term care requirements.
We were so lucky to have engaged Amaiva and we are all eternally grateful,
Pennie King
